View Full Version : Advice on MSP offer?
I've been looking around for an MSP in my price range for a while now, either blue, black, or titanium...
Anyway, I just found one at a local dealer. It's a blue 03.5 with 47k miles, and the guy I spoke with on the phone says it's in perfect condition. But they're asking $14,998. I know that's high from the research I've been doing, but he said he could make me deal when I come in to look at it. And possibly trade my 02 ES..
How much should I offer? What's a reasonable price for that mileage? And is it worth buying an MSP with that many miles on it?
I forgot to ask if it's still under warranty, but doesn't that just go to 50k anyway?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

there's a lot of people selling their msps here the forums. i would look around here first.
I have been. They're either out of my price range, too heavily modded, or yellow...

(lol) or yellow.
Seriously though, if its what you want, get it. If you still owe money on your current car, and its more then it is KBB'ed for then try to at least get them to Pay the car off. I would als try to get them to at least 13500 because they probably only gave 9-10k for the trade at most. You also should have the opportunity to at least but an extended warranty on the drivetrain for about another 900 1000 dollars.

lol. Nothin against yellow, just can't see myself driving a yellow car.
Thanks for the advice. I just paid off my current car ('02ES). Its KBB is $7640. But I doubt they'd give me more than $6000..
I'm supposed to go check it out tomorrow after work. Hopefully it's as good as he says it is.

Ok so they want 15K (rounded off) for the car. They offer you 7k for yours, thats 8k financed for say 3 years. Payments under 350 a month. :D
Honestly though, when you go, DO NOT TELL THEM YOUR CAR IS PAID OFF. Get an offer on the car FIRST, then work from there. The dealer will TRY to give you less if your car is paid off as opposed to owing money on it.

I just did an online appraisal with a local dealer and it says the value is $6,235 - $8,125.
So what if they ask if my car is paid off before giving me an offer...? mislead them?
Would it be too low if I started at $13k for the MSP? 47k miles seems really high for an 03.

15k average a year for milage. So it would seem to be close to average. :D I would ask to see if they have the servicde records for it, and to have the turbo inspected. (Either by yourself or by a tech that does not work there) IF they want to sell the car, they will do it for you :D
Well I got there about 45 mins. before they closed this past evening. It's very near perfect, just like I was told (and way faster than my ES). It looks like it's all stock except for Corksport exhaust and gauges right under the cd player (which I thought was an odd place for them), and it's lowered.
They said the previous owner was very meticulous about his car and it was hard for him to part with it. But he traded it for an RX8, so I guess he got over it.
The warranty is about up, but it comes with a 1 year 12k I think they said.
The CEL is on, because of the exhaust they said. And I was told everything is certifiable other than the exhaust. They can put the stock exhaust on, possibly at no extra charge. The Corksport is a little loud for my taste, but I could live with it... Is there any way to get rid of the CEL though? Or should I have them put the stock exhaust on?
I got the previous owner's number so I can ask him some questions..... so what all should I ask him? I was planning on asking if he's had problems with the LSD like I've read about here, and what he's had fixed so I can figure out if it's worth it to buy an extended warranty..
Oh yeah, and I got them to $13,500 and they offered me $7k for my car.
Thanks again for the help.
