I got new wheels for my msp, 18x7.5 with +50 offset and the front is fine but the rear is pretty close. I dropped the suspension by 1" in the rear and about 1.7' in the front. I got 215/40-18 and I worry about rubbing with passengers. So my mechanic said that with a camber kit, it would solve the rear from rubbing by bringing the rear wheels in more on an angle for the proper clearance and that after....with an alignment, they would staighten the wheels as much as possible to avoid tire ware.

Does this plan makes sense? Have you heard of such a kit for the rear? Is this a good plan other than rolling the fenders?

Thanks

This sounds wierd to me he's telling you to add camber then an alignment will remove it? I'm confused, and about those tires I think were supposed to run the 35 series on an 18". Though 40 is more comfortable. Let us know what you do, I've been thinking about a camber kit as well because my car is too low.

A camber adjustment to the negative side on the rear would bring the top of the wheels inwards. The alignment issue is probably meant to bring the toe back inline.

The bad news is, (unless I'm wrong) we don't have adjustable camber on the rear of our cars and I don't know of any rear camber kits that fit.

You definately want to go with a 215/35 on 18s especially with a drop. You should have no rubbing issues with a 35.

Thanks for the info and the basic explanation. I'll see what this kit is, apparently he ordered a kit that should be in today or tomorrow. I'll let you know if this kit is for real and if it will actually work.

I took a chance with the 40 series, I figured that maybe with +50 offset I could get away with it. The roads here are awful and just wanted a little extra rubber....will see what happens.
