= pos.

MF...was doing 45 when the car jerked like it hit a pot hole and the rpms jumped to under 3k. went to manual mode it said 4th, then went full auto and it went back down to normal rpms af a tick above 2k.

wtf??

Last 3k miles...2 stalls and this jerk. last 5 k...3 stalls, dropped screw, tranny selector, and this crazy jerk this morning.

since owner ship...alarm module, 5-6 stalls, tranny selector, droped screw, crazy jerk, moon roof crooked, 1 million times now the rpms after start up dropped to 500 rpms and wants to cut out.

idle has been bumped up, egr cleaned, got FULL 30k main done by dealer. nothing but synthetic since 3k.

fuck this car

pos. = positive for me

(hah) Nothing but 3.5 years and 45,000 completely trouble-free miles for me. Dammit-- my time is running out to hit the dealer up for warranty work.

You have an automatic, so, ya never know.

I am sorry to hear that though. Are you still under warranty or not?

Sounds like it's time to go spend twice as much for a different car that will have a different but equal amount of annoying problems.

Sucks, could be worse, you could be like me and at 55000 miles a completely stock engine blows a pistion for no good reason.

If you are with in the warrenty period, you may want to start the process for a lemon law case so that the dealer will have to purchase the car back from you.

In November.
My fiance was driving home and the car started knocking badly. She got to a gas station and the car was very low on oil. Turned out the #4 cylinder had got smacked up and cracked. I had a used engine with 9000 miles put in that cost $2100 with install. After this and some of the general build quality issues I have with my 6, I am done with mazda. Then again, maybe it was just Karma biting me in the ass from 8 PSI on my MP3 for over a year.

I'd love a MAzdaspeed 6 and was close to purchasing one but with the problems already popping up with it, it is very clear that mazda has not learned from its mistakes and in total can not tune an ECU worth shit.

But the problem is, where the hell do you go if you want a handling oriented sedan with some power? Nissan, Toyota and honda's styling is terrible. Acura has no ballz unless you have over $30K, and even then good luck stopping the car in a reasonable distance. Gm is a fuggin joke, Ford is the same damn cars as a mazda, as is volvo. VW has been a quality nightmare for a decade+. Mitsubishi is worse then mazda by most quality standards and Subaru's are now hideous.

I give up, I'm getting a beater truck.

hrm....I dunno about that. Apparently we have the entire 1/3 on these boards then, because trouble problems on stock proteges are fairly few and far between. Sure, you get the occasional "My engine ate a screw" but that's pretty much stopped now that there's a recall for that. That combined w/ ppl blowing engies due to either too much boost or oil starvation (read: low oil) have been 99% of the problems I've seen on here

the only non stock things to my mazda is the air filter, mobile 1 oil/filter, wiper blades, tires, and washing fluid.

forgot to mention... I had to do bulbs cause one went out (driver side).
