Welcome! No, there are others around. I wrote the sticky at the top of the welcome section. When I had purchased my P5, I had no idea that others were so into them! Now I have done a lot, and learned a lot. Be sure to take sime pictures and post them up, so everyone can see it! What color did you get?

Remember, we all started stock. Lots of threads about tire options. Stock rims can support a 205/50/16 no problem, I did that for a long time. 195/50/16's are what we have stock. 205's are wider, and easier to find for sales. Here is a pic of my car a while back. Looked like that for a long time!

heres my stock car. it was stock till i got a flat tire and bent rim.. then i got rims.. and then i ran into the back of someone (i was drunk) so i got a new hood new foglights grill and some other stuff.. got mirrors awhile back and shaved my side moldings, painted my back emblems black and just the lil stuff has made the car look so much more better

Welcome to the boards....and congrats on your purchase. I too have wanted one since they first came out and picked mine up a couple of weeks ago. Mine too is stock and will probably stay that way....gotta save my money for my daughter's competition dance fees and my son will start playing football, baseball later this year....

I will say that the car is great to drive...even stock and the style/design still looks good on the road four years later. I was talking to one of my neighbors this morning while shoveling snow and she asked me if it was a 2006!!! I told her no it was an 02 with 67k...she was very impressed.

your P5 is not a Mazdaspeed. The previous owner put it on. No worries. If you look in the regional sections, you can find out about local meets. I went to them bone stock for a long time. Luck in scoring free/discounted parts from people trading in their cars, as well as deals from ***************, I have gotten quite a decent car. I want to lower it a little, maybe an inch, but it all needs to pass the wife's inspection.

I got mine from Wheelmax, but I was not impressed with their service at all. Lots of people have had problems with them, lots of people had decent experiences.

tirerack has a protege5 you can change the color on to match you car, and you can see the wheels and how they would look on your car, too.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on the P5. I was planning on white wheels with a polished lip but bought the silver with polished lip instead. I was too scared it would look too ricey for my taste. Seems like everone is going for bronze these days. I must say I prefer silver over bronze though.

When you do decide on a wheel I would advise a 48mm offset so they don't rub in the rear if the future may bring some lowering springs.

The console inside is usually black, trim, handles, etc are usually silver. You have an 02.5 or later Protege5, since you have the side marker turn signals and speakers next to the mirrors. You have early 02 wheels, but those looks sweet still. Your headlights have black around the housing. Either they are expensive JDM ones, or they were opened up, insides painted black, then put back together.

All in all, nothing to worry about. You got a head start on the modding! I am sure you can find the fogs in trade for the lip.

Oh yeah, you can take those side moldings off pretty easily, too.

I wish. Major diff was the roof rack delete (could be ordered tho), spare tire sub, and optional auto-dimming mirror

Yours is obviously an 03 or 03.5 de to the color. But yes you do have the 02 wheels.

Very good pics of the car. I think there are some fogs you can get to fit in there with the 03.5 MSP Lip...but you need a bracket of some sort...it looks very nice with the front lip. I used to have a P5, but when I split up with my ex she made me get rid of it because it was in our name...and not only mine. I really liked it too, it was a 02, but had very low miles, as well as the 6-disc changer and moonroof. I had an 03 Civic for a while...but quickly got tired of it then I got my 03.5 MSP...ooo so happy with it...but still miss my P5 sometimes. I would almost say see if you can get the 03 MSP wheels, they look sweet...look at Lisakay's. The stock P5 wheels with wider tires (205/50 16) look mean too. I had that on mine, though in these pics they were stock size. Anyway...welcome and enjoy, the people here are great!

depends on the size. General rule +45 and up. You really wanna get as close to +50 as you can (er...that IS the stock offset, right guys?....and Gals...;))

In Feb 02 the tranny was revised with beefier shift forks and some other parts. I replaced my 02 tranny when it blew with an 03 and it was a little tight and bumpy getting into second sometimes. It is a common thing I have read on the forums if that is what you are experiencing. I use Royal Purple Synchromax tranny fluid and it seemed to smooth it out unless I just got used to it.

Well you can have fogs with the MSP lip, just not the stock pro5 fogs. A few members with MSP's have fogs as well, you just have to get a bracket set and pick out some fogs you like that will fit.

You don't only need the fogs, you need the brackets too kitty. I think I have my old fogs somewhere, but they have rock chips in them and I don't have spare brackets. I have a friend that has a Mazda Speed axle back exhaust for your car if you are interested. It's not too loud and has a nice tone to it (I have this exhaust on my car as well).

I don't think you do. If you look at the interior pictures, certain things are and aren't painted. For instance, your tweeters are, but his weren't (at least from what I can tell). The bezel around your gauges is painted. His was not. (the piece inside the plastic cover)

But there's no telling I guess. edit: unless you check the vin

No name, and yes I just looked at all the pics you took of it and it was definatly mine. It was really in bad shape. Hope it does ok for you. Ran fine after wreck, but every panel was trash.

What's interesting is that whomever essentially rebuilt the exterior of the car, did the same mods. (ie. painted black headlights, etc.) Scarry though. You could have got a killer deal if you knew before hand. No carfax check?
