I heard a rumor that the Dodge Viper engine was gonna go to DOHC to crank up the power ... ouch!!! Then I came across this little tid bit of a prediction for future plans ...

2008 700HP-710TQ 8.4L V10

Whoa!! Nothing said about engine configuration, just the target power output.

They are even bumping the power up in the 5.7 and 6.1 hemi's by 30 (to 375hp) and 25 (to 445 hp), respectively. And the new 6.4 that's gonna go in the challenger? ...

2009 505HP/515TQ 6.4Ltr V8

Need some torque? How about the next Cummins Deisel? ....

2008 400HP/700TQ 6.7Ltr

I don't. Dodge seems to be alone producing big numbers. Look at the new Caliber. 300hp for compact car replacing the Neon.

dodge sometimes overrates their numbers. the 04 hemi ram is rated higher hp than my dads 04 titan but my dads titan wipes the floor with it. Also, on dyno's the hemi ram was rated lower than what the factory bhp numbers suggested.

Dodge will do it imo. Look at how bad they under shot the numbers on the SRT-4 when they came out.

yup that is also true. I've seen many a dyno to prove that also

The SRT4's hp numbers were also underrated. When they first hit showrooms, they were advertised with 215hp. People were laying down 220hp+ stock.

The viper better get some more HP....1hp/ci IS NOT IMPRESSIVE! Even our POS FS-DE does better....

Oh, hell...same for their other motors...5.7 is 350ci, and 6.1 is over 400...Sure they have HP, but should be able to get alot more out of them.
