Add keyless remote

Hi all,

I am wondering what it would take to add keyless remote to my 01 Tribute DX? I thought all had it but when I bought the car it had no remotes. I bought a remote but can't get the car to get into program mode. The dealer said my VIN did not show my car with RKE. Can I just change the GEM module or would I be better off just adding a aftermarket kit? Thanks.

it's too complicated to change the module, you would have to reprogram all the keys and security stuff, and that would be expensive

Just get an aftermarket alarm or simple kill switch. That will give you the ability to unlock the doors with a remote.
