Pass. side splash guard

So my freind and I forgot to screw in one of the bolts and it ripped itself off while I was driving down the highway. Do I really need it? The guy at the Mazda dealer said it didn't matter. I'm afraid that my tire will shoot somehing into my belts and mess something up.

just to be on the safe side, I would get a new one. Never know what can clank up from the road into the motor......a rock, a bird or even someone's child, hah. But yea on the serious note, I would definetly get a new one. Its there for a reason.
