Cause my wife said that she will foget that it is lowered. (boom07)
But I can respect that. So are there any other ways of enhancing the handling of the P5 at stock ride hight? I put some better rubber on but I think I can get more out of her.

rubber, motor mounts (stop wheel hop) sway bars, and better struts

easy on the throttle.....it's bad for ur CV axles, and tranny...I'm gonna put up with it until I decide to make the big jump into STS...you have to wait til you're pointed straight to go WOT...

you don't need to use the stiffest ones btw, if u get them, ur whole car's just gonna shake sitting @ idle lol, not exactly the best for a Daily...just a thought
And y'd u wanna sell the P5?

If I dont need the stiffest, which ones do I need to get?
I thought about selling the P5 due to lack of power. My P5 sits next to an Evo everyday and everytime I drive it it just feels slow after driving my Evo. But I got plans for the P5. Dont know what exactly but plans none the less. Stay tuned for when I take her to the Nurburgring in March. (thumb)

Get some 16x7 wheels and throw some 205/55/16s on them (5% larger than stock). It will help with the wheel gap.

HA! No shit lol. I'll trade ya! I think AWR makes 95, 80 and 70 (or 75, I can't remember) durometer (hardness) mounts, and a lot of ppl have just replaced just the front one w/ the softest one and say it eliminated wheel hop. I think I'm gonna go w/ the 80's when I do mine. Also, it's not a good idea to just replace the front mount, as it puts extra strain on the rear. It IS a bitch to do the rear, but it's definately do-able.
So, can I have the evo? You could get my P5, take the engine out, do a rear mount setup and have the first twin engine P5.....it's just a though...all that glory, and at the price of a measley Evo...

16x7??? whats stock?
16x6. if u use taller tires, ur accelleration will suffer...I've got 205-40-17's on it now for street use...they're a little shorter than stock, and don't ride too stiff.

The difference is marginal. The MSP has 5% larger overall diameter compared to the P5 and other than the turbo, nothing is done to compensate with regards to gear ratios (AFAIK).

I would be more than happy to sell you my Evo if I could get it back to the states legaly. The whole JDM RHD might make customs kinda mad

205 40 17s will make excess wheel gap if not lowered any.

I'm hoping to just install the 70 durometer front mount. The goal is to reduce the driveline lash without adding too much vibration.
How much life will only having the front take out of the rear? Also, if the rear mount wears due to the extra strain, can I just install the RR inserts?

yeah, but if I'm not mistaken, those are still only the side mounts. It'll help, but, you know. I'm planning on getting the 80's front and rear, and getting either the AWR or the RR inserts for the sides. that should keep the thing pretty damn planted lol

I was actually referring to an insert for the rear mount. I think this may be a good performance/vibration compromise.

Do the MSP (Racing Beat) springs/suspensions work on the 5s?
I never really knew for sure.
Anyway, you're talking about less than an inch drop in ride height and a significant improvement in handling if they fit...

ya, they fit. .75" drop f/r if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure u could sell her on that ;)

they should be ok, if you hear clicking coming from your front end while turning and accelerating(note: NOT A BURNOUT, LIGHTLY like a normal person) then the c.v. joint(s) are no good, if there is no clicking you should be fine
from what I have read the msp springs could fit the P5, but is not recommended harsher ride than the RB springs made for the P5( I think)

No...I mean, unless you really want to be out the money lol. Na, they're not THAT sensitive, just try not to do it a whole lot. I auto-x, and I"m still sortof a n0oB @ it, and for my first few races I'd just stomp on the pedal coming out of corners, and it would buck like crazy (the inside wheel literally bounces up and down as it tries to gain traction...). Basically, it's "driver error." I wasn't any faster (no traction), and I was tearing up my car. I have make a concious effort now to keep my car at the limit so that I don't get wheel hop...and like I said, motor mounts will remedy the situation.

Yep, pair the Racing Beat/Mazdaspeed springs with a set of Tokico HP's and you will get a very nice improvement in handling for not too much money and you will barely notice the difference in ride height. I love mine. I can easily go head to head in handling with my buddy's Cooper S. Only drawback is that WILL definately loose some ride quality. The set-up is a bit stiff.

I'm running the racing beat springs and tokico illuminas. With an AWR rear bar my car handles great, rides great, and sits almost at the stock hieght.

I've recently thought about rigging a shock absorber between the engine and chassis to act as a...well, shock absorber. I think that might provide enough slowing of the engine movement (not necessarily reduce the amount of movement) thus preventing the resonent windup-release-windup-release that turns basic loss of tire grip into massive wheel hop. The key term here is resonent movement, by preventing the immediate release of energy by the rubber engine mounts, I can prevent that torque from being sent to the wheels, thereby allowing them maintain grip. Even if the tires lost grip, there would be no sympathetic thrashing of the engine inside the mounts.
Please, let me know if this is way off base. I know it probably would be seen somewhere is it were effective...I'm probably not the first guy to think of this.
Thanks

am i missing something? i dropped my car, and i rarely have to worry about hitting stuff...the only thing i wacked once was those stupid cement tire stops at the shopping center, maybe a real steep and direct incline, but that would go for any smaller car...i don;t know, but i've never had an issue...?
