I'm prepping for vtcs removal & just wanted to double check on what folks think the best thing to fill the holes with would be. I have scanned these things at auto parts store & read the threads & just would like the best, most trustworthy stuff to fill runner holes.

I used quiksteel on mine. The shit sets up quickly and when it's all said and done it is hard as a rock. The one other thing that I don't remember getting a warning about before I used it..............................

HOLY SHIT THAT STUFF STINKS !!!!! The smell is down right nasty...........

Because I'm part of the recall, I don't want to wonder if or when it will happen, would rather be proactive so it doesn't cause other worse damage if it does happen, want to get rid of vtcs-not feeling the concept of it, refuse to have dealer touch car for anything if at all possible that doesn't cause big financial hit to me while still having 1yr/35k left on my warranty, dealer won't do recall & remove vtcs while there even if I did let them do recall, etc etc etc

isn't it the VICS screws that fall out?

either way, why not just disassemble the affected part and use threadlock on the screws?

OK, round & round we go. LOCTITE THE VICS SCREWS & REMOVE THE VTCS.

I've never had much luck with epoxy on metal parts. The last failure was my AC bracket. When it failed, the compressor hit the street, got caught under the oilpan and catapulted the car. Prior to that, I used epoxy on the corner of the engine block under the starter on my K-5 Blazer. It didn't work on that either and I'd snap starter bolts every couple of weeks.

Having it fail in the intake is just a scary thought for me. I'd rather use something like what is in the Alum-alloy infomercials.

How about JB WELD??

I am using it in my head where a stripped exhaust bolt was drilled out too far and went into the cooling passage. I JB WELDed a stud into the bolt hole. No leaks and it holds my header just fine.

Please don;t use JBWeld for STRUCTURAL strength! I.e. an alt bracket!! It is for closing a small hole or gluing some metal trim.

Find a good local welder.

I found JB weld to be unbearably difficult to handle, and to stuff into those holes. It took me forever, and that crap was just smearing all over the place the whole time. I would recommend using quick steel.

well i used jb weld since the local autoshop didnt have quick steel, however, i found no problem using it, only minus is that it took kind of long to get it settled and cured.

well.. i was not in hurry and since it was my extra mani that i was working on, i just put it there and let it sit for a whole day.. though i eneded up putting more to make it perfectly filled in..

if i do the job again, i'd like to try quick steel..

if i do the job again, i'd like to try quick steel..Yeah maybe I didn't mix it right. I know there are at least two kinds of JB weld. There is one that is supposed to set up quickly. I definitely didin't have that kind. But the crap was just like liquid, and took hours to set, meanwhile it would just drip right out of the holes I tried to put it in. I had to babysit it for hours constantly scooping it back in there.
