hopefully my car will be put back together by then i was going to meet some freinds friday nite and i hite a water main valve cover (8 inches wide and and 5 tall) was in the middle of the road and i couldnt see it for the truck in front of me... broke foglight, bumper, tire, wheel, tie rod, and controll arm... so the city of high point is going to pay to fix it.. i just hope it dont take that long

Guys - the dragon is awesome, and I hope everyone has a great time. Been there a few times myself, but I ask that everyone KEEP IT IN YOUR LANE! there are always alot of bikers (like myself) and seems like every week there are people getting hit by cars, trucks or rigs...

Ok with that out of the way, there are alot of awesome roads there. Not just the gap, such as the blue sky parkway etc... and generally they are less heavily patrolled. Hope everyone who gets to go has a great and safe time. Also there are alot of hotels on www.tailofthedragon.com lots of good info there... check it out .

I was there last summer with over 400 Miatas. There are alot of good roads in addition to the dragon. Run over to Fontana Dam, drive the Cherohala Skyway, etc.

Suggest you all check out who else is up there that weekend. If you get up there with 500 Harleys, it'll be a long slow weekend.

Last summer, an Acura club of about 10 cars went up there, heard there would be "some Miata Club" up there that weekend. Turns out it is over 400 Miatas at our annual gathering. (glare)

I know there is a 30% chance of rain and a chance of thunderstorms, but looks like it is still on. I will find out how many more 6's are coming.

wish i was going...have fun! and keep it in your lane. bring back good pics. if you're filming from inside the car (esp a camera mounted inside), use a wide-angle lens, which provides much better results and a more realistic view.

if the harleys are there, you might be best served exploring most of the other roads, some of which are as good or better. i was there w/ the Subarus one year...fantastic time as long as everyone acts like a grownup. we went over the dragon on the way in...at 1am in the pouring rain. not good times...bad times.

we stayed at a place closer...fontana village, i think? a craphole, but closer than robbinsville. there's also a biker motel right at the end of the road on the NC side....
