havent really looks for dyno sheets but i think i saw specs form yamaha rate it around 90 hp? if u find something let me know......it def has enough for me right now...it also seems relaly torquey.....i mean i dont have hardly any experience with bikes so im hopin bakari can jump on it and give me an idea once i tag it this weekend.....but from what i can tell i was able to lift the front end in 2nd and 3rd gear at around 5-6k rpm...it redlines at 11500 so i mean i figure thats low on the power band for a sport bike right? i was leanin over the tank too so it was pushin up some good weight haha....im happy with it....bakari gave me some tips when i checked it out and they really helped.....on throttle thru the turns was smooth and relaly linear to 9k...i havent even redlined it yet until the shop gives it a tune up and checks everything out

well I stand corrected, it has 91hp. http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/yamaha_fzr_600_1993.php yeh i was suprised too....when i saw the bike forsale i pushed it off as too old and slow.....but it apparenlty was ahead of its time in power and handling.....compared to the '00+ 600's makin over 100 its obviously weak now but its still up there lol

well by the time i was outside baltimre i got pretty comfortable on it and opened it up to about 85-90.....i dont know how fast i was relaly goin cus when i took off from 60 (already in 6th gear mind u) i passed the car i was behind like that and i was just flyin in no time.....plus it just scared me......i mean ive been up to 120 in the civic (down a hill haha), 130 in the msp and 150 in a supped up rx7 and i wasnt scared...but on top of a motor with some skiny tires holdin u down i just though about it a lil more lol and let off.....im sure ill get used to it and open it up....the seller said he took it to 155 where the speedo stops and he pegged it so its got the legs......im just sayin u think twice...at least i did lol....i recommend it for the guy that just likes the raw feel.....sounds stupid but thats how i feel....i had a grin the whole ride home and am diein lookin at it sittin in my backyard and not able to ride it (poke)....im sure bakari can agree that nuttin tops it....not even a 2.3L evo8 maybe haha

That's cool. Are u a good teacher? How long does it usually take to learn? seein as i did the msf course but only have like no real time on the streets (besides ridin a couple buddies bikes around the block and riding my bike home from va) i wouldnt say im an awesome teacher.....i just know what i learned.....maybe me and bakari as additional knowledge can show u on my bike lol if ur serious about learnin though i recommend the msf course as i had no experience before then and learned alot in those two days......plus it cuts ur insurance down some (thumb)

if ur a quick learner is not hard....just gotta learn the clutch and get used to the controls...then u gotta get used to leanin and stuff <-----this took me a lil time cus ur mind doesnt like it when ur leanin over at first and it fights ur body and makes u stand the bike up......which isnt good if ur tryin to make a turn lol....but yeh i got the basics down in the 2 day course and got a 199/200 on the "final exam" (first)

Thats not a bad price, I guess. Too bad I am soooo broke right now.
Not all women are bad drivers :-) saves u in the long run....u can learn urself and take the test at the "DMV" and pay i think $30 for the license...but with insurance cuts u get from the course u make it back eventually...especially for a 22 year old male...even with a clean record i apparently am prone to fits of speed and mayhem

im sure ur a beast driver....ur the only woman i know that commited vehicular manslaughter haha.....just sayin...out of 50 ppl.....3 failed...2 ladies and one stupid dude :).....one chick couldnt shift..the other couldnt do anything (the one that ran into me) and the dude was just stupid and kept fuckin up (went the wrong way on the course)

*cough* either way.....i think amber was doin it on her own.....u can get a permit from the dmv by fillin out a form and go out on the road and learn then come back and take the test and get ur license......but im sure yall like it....chicks on bikes = +1....just make sure to wear the one piece leather like that chick in underworld....

DMV VA learners permit requires a written test before issue of said permit. The restrictions of the permit only allow for you to ride any roads that aren't highways and you must be with a licensed rider at all times. I think you can only ride during the daylight hours also.

Luis, good find! The FZR is a great bike for a beginner. I have known many people that have started on either a FZR600 or a YZF600r.

Luis - very nice!

I am sorry that I couldn't make it out with you but I had prior obligations. I am willing to ride anytime so just let me know when you want to go out. Once your ready you can go on some longer rides that i have planed with a couple of buddies. **we will be heading out to 211**

Maria - I am a pretty good teacher if you would like to learn. I can walk you through the basics to get you started then you can get your learner's permit and begin to do some street riding. The biggest thing is getting comfortable with the controls as soon as that happens it's all gravy from there.

For anyone that cares:

What riding a motorcycle does for me is amazing. It gives a feeling that just can't be duplicated in a car. I don't care if you've driven a 800hp Supra or 600hp RX-7 there is nothing that compares to the feeling of speed that you get on a motorcycle.

Picture this: Riding down the road on a beautiful sunny day, clear skies, clear road and you see a sign that says "twisty roads next 12 miles...25mph". That's when you know it's time for business. I pull over and adjust my gear and ensure the bike is tip-top to make sure everything is ready for the up coming onslaught of corners and ludicris speeds. I get on and fire the bike back up and adjust my mentality (it's time to get serious because a mistake can cost me my health or life).

I get into my aggressive riding position and crack the throttle. The bike screams to 15k then shift, eyes up, head up, two fingers on the brake. Here's the first corner! Shift my weight to the inside, slide my ass off, and stick my knee out... the whole time making sure I am not to putting too much weight on the handle bars (because understeer lowsides suck). I lean the bike in progressively until my knee tells me how far over the bike is. I maintain throttle until I get to the apex and feed in more. The bike starts to pull its' self up and the steering gets really light and you realize the front tire is struggling to stay connected to the pavement. I lean over the tank to keep the front end down and give it more throttle. She's screaming at me again and the front end drops down. The bars start to waggle a bit to let me know I have found the road again and I'm off.

I continue to blast down the road to the next corner. I do this over and over again for the next 2 hours. The whole time I feel as though I am cheating death and dismemberment with over confidence and skill.

The the road ends and light is fading. I get off the bike and check her out again. Making sure I didn't rag my tires out too much and making sure nothing is leaking or smoking. I light up a cigarette and pull like I just got done with a 2hr orgasam and slump down on a patch of grass. Then I think to myself "I feel so damn alive right now"

This, my friends, is why I am addicted to riding (thumb)
