for those of you who have to deal with the frigid cold... you may run into this same situation...

it's freezing out... your driving and your low fuel warning light comes on... you pull into the nearest gas station for a refill and the damn latch to open the gas door is frozen!!!

thats what happened to me... i banged on the gas door and tried spraying some lock de-icer into the gas door locking mechanism.. but it still wouldn't budge... after 10 minutes of standing outside i jumped back into my running car to warm up my frozen hands... afraid that the car would go empty on me.. i inscrewed the plastic cover over the gas/trunk latches inside the car to check if there was something obstructing their movement... nothing... in desperation i took the screw driver and pryed the latch open... it finally gave but then froze in the open position... so here i was with a full tank of gas and a flappy gas door... i figured i had snapped the cable and would have to fix it in the summer... when the weather warmed up a bit... to my suprise... the latch and lock had gone back to the locked position and worked perfectly... yay!!! i didnt break it...

anyway... it was a scary moment and was just wondering if anyone has run into the same prob.. if not.. i was hoping that someone might be able to give a tip on how to avoid this problem again...

any comments would be greatly appreciated
thx =)

When you wash your car in the winter. Blow your locks, handels, mirrors, window trimming with air (usually carwashes have those hand held air gun thing-a-majigs)

Water + Cold = Ice

worked every time for me! :)

good luck!
