OK, I've mentally prepared myself to squander tons of money on an exhaust system, either the perrin or the Apexi? Of course I'll be getting the DP for the apexi as well

well Perrin's exhaust will not mate w/ apexr1's DP. So it looks like you choice is simple.
Perrin is from the DP back as in (S pipe and J pipe), while the apexr1's down pipe consists of (J pipe and mid pipe).

if you decide to go w/ Perrin's exhaust, a DP like corksports, MAM, or GHL (w/ appropriate flange) will mate together.
When you decide b/t the two keep in mind the Perrin exhaust routs above the rear axel while Apexr1's goes under. if you ever decide to drop your car, i would suggest to go w/ Perrin's b/t the two choices.

the only thing i dont like about the apex is how low the muffler and pipe sits to the ground. i have the 2.5 inch piping and it sits about 2.5 inches off the ground. at stock height it scratches on huge speed bumps and driveways but i can only imagine what its like dropped.

also the Apex goes under the rear axle as apposed to others going over the axle...

Can anyone supply pics of the diffrence between the corksport and the apex? I just put a order in for the apex, im still waiting on it at the moment so i guess i could stop the order but I like the sound of the N1 muffler but i do want to lower the car some more. I have tein lowering springs and i want the rear of the car to sit lower... should i not go with the apex if i want that?

if you're lowered you'll want to be really careful going over any spped bumps because it does not go over the rear axel...let me find some pics of my CS exhaust./...

Definately not.... especially if you already have the springs. i know the the debate was b/w Perrin and Apex but what about vibrant? the vibrant system is better that both IMO...

Personally, I think the GHL turboback is the best exhaust for the value.

Perrin exhaust has no cat and it's very loud. I can't really stand the smell of a no cat exhaust. Also, it doesn't have a flex pipe so you would need a motor mount.
Apex exhaust has the option to get catless or cat mid-pipe. but the exhaust is hanging low. It might have a better flow without the extra bent but I am really worry about the speed bump and rough road.
Corksport has a good price. no cat as well. it's 2.4" diameter exhaust compare to the others which is 3". If you plan to build up your motor, get the 3".
Another choice will be vibrant. It's 3 inches, and has a flex pipe, cat and resonator. Very good sound. They have a GB on the market place where it's going for $700 plus shipping. I think it's cheaper than both Perrin and Apex, and IMHO a better exhaust system as well.
You could also pay $200 to get the Corkspot S pipe to make it a full turbo back exhaust. $900 to get a full TB exhaust, which is 2.5 to 3". You can't really beat that price unless you go to custom.
Hope that helps.

There's a guy on our board selling his full GHL turbo back. click here (http://www.toprotege.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17605&highlight=exhaust). I'm pretty sure he'd be willing to mail it. Price includes a higher cell count cat than normal. Beautiful sounding exhaust while he had it on. he's asking $1250CDN.

Perrin does come w/ a flex pipe. Its on the midpipe. Maybe the early ones may have not, but the new ones do. i got mine in march 05 and it has one.
also to go along w/ having no cat. your car will backfire alot.
So if you can't deal w/ a loud, i mean LOUD, exhaust that sounds means as hell w/ all the rumbling, gurgling, and popping, by no means should you get a Perrin.

Vibrant is s-pipe back, 3" mandrel-bent stainless steel. It comes with a high flow cat, a flex-pipe section and an extra O2 bung for the use of a wideband. HP/TQ gains are proven on the dyno and it is cheaper than both of your original choices...
