I take it you're talking about extending the wiring on the O2 sensor? I used 18 gauge. Worked fine.

Just about to do mine for my Vibrant exhaust. The wire that came with it is pretty small (the gauge isn't listed on it). FWIW I'm going to wrap the connections good with electrical tape and then wrap the whole thing with heat-resistant tape I got from my local speed shop.

This is a good approach that will ensure solid connections. I ghetto rigged a harness extension instead of using this approach though (hindsight is always 20/20). Generally speaking things are just fine 6 months after being lengthened. However, I am having a bit of trouble with the connectors themselves on one end the harness so every once and a while I get a CEL. Once I push the connector back in tight the CEL dissapears. Right now with the snow and cold weather, it is too unpleasant to spend time working on the car. Once things warm up a bit, I will fix the problem properly.

What kind of wire is used for o2 wire splicing. Thanks in advance.

18 gauge, crimp connection with heat shrink tubing. Or 18 gauge soldered connections with smaller heat shrink tubing. I went with the soldered connections, and it's been working awesome. My primary O2S is now at the collector (Where stock second O2S is, only I have a header), the secondary O2S is after my high flow cat, and my original location for the primary O2S is plugged. The car runs MUCH nicer like this, for me, but I'm in an N/A, slightly built P5.

Oh, also, have some split loom, nylon loom or something similar to run the wires through safely; Don't want those wires getting rubbed raw.
