I like sporty wagons so i was thinking of a Subaru wagon, not many other wagons on the market anymore. (thumb) Does the Subaru wagon come is a wrx style with a hood scoop? that would be awesome. I think my p5 should last me till 2010 at least.

There is an Impreza WRX wagon. A BMW M3 will replace or the newer model 330i will replace my P5 :)

I like the new MX-5 and I dream/lust over the Lotus Elise. For a four door car, the Legacy GT is pretty sweet and I am a Subaru fan.

I'm in this boat also...

But the Audi A3 does look nice. Most of the cars that have the styling I like (the styling of the P5) are not in the same price range.

Gee, I'm not sure? I've been considering selling it outright and getting a Spec-V SE-R (o.k., let me have it) after only 10 months of ownership. It's just too damn slow. The wife drives it most of the time and even she says it doesn't have any "ass".

So, either a Spec-V SE-R or a 1973 Pinto.

I just bought my MP3 and plan to pay for it for 4-5 yrs, after that I hope to keep it as a daily, but if the money is there I will buy myself a project car. I'm thinking a FD RX-7 and swap in the 3 rotor 20B. That or buy a new Evo X.

choices to be looked at will be a mistu evo, subie wrx, saab 92x or w/e, mini, and if i could get my hands on it but prob not mky parents 98 m3 drop top...

im shooting for the evo though since its fairly priced and has awd and i live in a wintery state and its everything i want...good power good suspension sexdy as all hell...so we shall see what happens i give it 1-1.5 years...

The Mini's are pretty sweet, but when I drove my friends 2003 base model, I wasn't thrilled about how the controls felt. The clutch pedal felt spongy, the shifter felt a little disconnected and vague, and the steering wasn't nearly as positive or direct as I would have thought for such a small car. Of course I wasn't thrilled about the way my P5 felt when I first got it (after having a Miata), but I got used to it. I'd consider a Cooper S in the future, too. I love the supercharger whine!

I don't like thinking about replacing my P5, it makes her sad. I would consider a WRX wagon, but the styling just isn't there like it is with the P5. Right now I'd consider a 4-cyl sport appearance package Mazda6 and then turbo it.

Nothing will ever replace the P5; I may get another vehicle though and leave her for a weekend warrior/summer car. I have always loved the WRX/STi, but I agree - the P5 just looks better. Plus, IMHO, the P5 handles better in stock form, not as much body roll. However, put the all-wheel drive and that 300hp boxer engine in the P5, and that ends all discussion IMO.

Wonder what would be more difficult - putting the boxer engine in the P5, or the rotary from an RX7? (wiggle)

I've actually been thinking about this a lot lately. I'd love to keep the p5 for as long as I can, but the michigan roads are going to kill this car....and I'd like to have something else before it rusts from the bottom out. Anyway, currently on my thoughts are the Audi A3 (the black is sexy...and DSG I hear is awesome), the Saab 92x has my eye (looks a bit better than the subby imo), and maybe a Volvo if i ever see that C30 at the dealerships. Dream cars currently are: Mitsu Evo MR, Caddy CTS-V, and at the extreme end, the Carrera GT.
If I decide to have fun and go with some good ole fashion muscle, that new challenger looks good...and if gm has enough balls to produce something anything remotely similar to that new camaro concept...I'd like to see what I could do with that.

SlowPro98
01-12-2006, 01:08 PM
I don't plan on getting rid of my p5 until it becomes too expensive to own.

What I'd like to do is trade my wife's 98 protege for mazda 6, however she wants a xB. Either way, I want to keep the p5 as summer/back up car, that way I can really work on it, and use the other as the commuter.

I have dreams of an RWD drifter, but the wife has dreams of babies... ahh shit, i'm going to have to get a mini van (2thumbs) but only if it looks like this;

No. Rear end is ugly as hell.
I know, I wish they made it look better...but I'd love an evo, and not a whole lot beats the practicality of a wagon (one of the big reasons I love the p5...just put the back seats down, and you almost have the same space as a small truck). Anyway, as I said earlier, it's gonna be a few years at least, before I get a new car, so I was just throwing it out there lol

I'll probably end up in a used 05 or 06 GTO 6 speed in a few years, maybe a newer one if the redesign isn't too ugly. I'm totally done with 4 cylinders and especially front wheel drive.

haha!

fat chance, I don't have a death wish just yet. Only reason I said the XB9s is because my brother said he'd give it to me when he gets a new bike - if I don't already have the SV650 before then.

Either way, I'm into useable power, low-end torque, and a lower insurance premium. With some practice I'll be able to outride some stunner on an inline anyday...at least until the straights come up ;)

As of today...2005 Tribute V6 AWD. I was kind of sad to let the P5 go, but with the old lady not being able to drive stick very well it had been a problem when she has needed to drive it. Plus living in Upstate NY its a good idea to have an AWD vehicle so the wife can use it to drive my daughter on the days when its snowy. On that note, I will be posting a set of StreetRings in the FS section.

If you add up the price of an Evo or STI and the cost of insuring the car...you can afford a lot more car. Ditto for an S2000.

I'd personally need two cars to replace my P5:
1. RX-8
2. Ford Freestyle

Father bought lightly used 2005 RX-8 under my influence for $20500 last summer. I'm supposed to buy it from him when he tires of it, but that doesn't seem to be happening. (His Lexus GS 400 rarely leaves the garage now.) Probably eventually buy it in the spring (2007 or 2008), then get family hauler as complement the following fall. Freestyle my current favorite, but I'm interested in seeing the new GM crossovers.

Odd thing is, I enjoy driving my P5 so much I'm not really looking forward to the above. For the sort of around town driving I do an RX-8 is a bit of overkill, while P5 is perfect.

ronin12
01-13-2006, 05:45 PM
I don't think that I will ever part with the P5, as for my other car a '98 audi A4, when it comes time I would like to find one of the new Mazdaspeed6's 270hp with awd, nice interior and stuff. If I went the Subaru route I would want a 2005 Subaru ESX, basically a STI on steroids, I saw it in autotrader, only like 40-50 built, 365hp race car street legal, sweet

GhostLinker

Yup. RWD or AWD with at least 300hp and a manual trans for sure. There are soo many nice cars to choose from it will be difficult. I'll probably give my P5 to my youngest daughter who will start driving in a couple years.

Phoenix5
01-23-2006, 04:15 PM
There are so many options for me right now but right now,I like the new WRX bc of the lower insurance so maybe in a year or two,I can trade my P5 in for WRX TR.I don't know,I really don't have the finances now to afford a new car, just trying to finish up my car payments.I gotta get a better paying job first. Then I'll think about a new car.

Having two kids, I might go for the Mazda 5. I absolutely dislike Stupid Useless Vehicles (SUV's) so I will NEVER get one. And the price of gas up here simply pushes me toward an econobox for my quite long daily commutes to work so the new Honda Fit is interesting.

The P5 is now 4 years old, and my wife's Civic is 6 years old...might do a couple of moves soon before they start costing too much in maintenance.

so everyone else seems to have noticed the sweetness that is the A3.

For me: 1) Audi A3 2) Volvo S40 3) MX-5 4) Mazdaspeed 3 wagon 5) Civic coupe

I'm not crazy about the A3's looks....I think it's because the hatch looks too squared off or something.

this would be a nice car if it weren't such a porker. hell the damn thing weighs over 3300lbs. what the f#$%, did they throw a dead body in the hatch or what.why this car weighs so damn much is a mystery. this thing would be f'in quick if it weighed 2800lbs like it should.

NEVAR!!!!!!!!!!

You've gone and made your P5 suicidal now. Now go rejuvenate it with some foot to the floor zoom-zooming :D

So right now I'm thinking I'll replace my P5 with a miata. Damn them having such great resale value though, for the price the dealerships around here for a 2002-ish Miata with around 25k miles I could get a Mazdaspeed Protege with less miles.. and they are so much more functional. I can't deny the beauty of the coke bottle-shaped Miata, but the MSP has moar turbo! :)

I think if I bought an MSP I would be the most satisfied MSP driver on these forums. I'm thoroughly satisfied with the performance of my P5, and I wouldn't expect the MSP to be a WRX killer as it seems so many on here do.

I don't know. I have only had the car for 10 months so I don't think I will be replacing it soon, I have to much stuff left to buy for it anyway.

Since I have had my P5 for 10 days, I wont be replacing her soon....which is good for me. (yippy) This car is a blast to drive and mine is completely stock. I can only imagine what she could do looking at some of everybodys mods on here. Oh, to dream.

But if money weren't an object I believe I would move up to the M5 wagon (which I believe is coming stateside). If I am wrong please correct me. Or the Audi RS4 Avant. Audi makes some beautiful wagons!

Congratulations on the purchase! Be warned, if you're like me you'll never want to get rid of your P5. Every time I think about selling all I need to do is drive it or see it and bam all those thoughts are gone. It might not be too quick, but it's not that slow and it gets great gas mileage and looks awesome while doing it.
