2007 Nissan Sentra

Type of vehicle: sedan
Seats: 5
Base engine: 2.0-liter I4
In showrooms: October
Base price: About $16,000
What’s cool: Sentra uses Nissan-Renault’s global C platform. Engine will be mated to a continuously variable transmission. High-performance SE-R version to debut in early 2007.

The Nissan Sentra grows larger this fall for the 2007 model year and moves to a global platform shared with alliance partner Renault SA.

Under the hood is the first North American application of Nissan’s “MR” series of four-cylinder engine. The Sentra gets a 2.0-liter version. That engine will be mated to a continuously variable transmission or a five-speed manual transmission.

The rear seats fold flat to expand trunk storage space. A high-performance SE-R version will debut in early 2007,

Wow, that's a shame. Then current Sentra's don't look that bad, but this is, ugh!

Hmm...I think it looks more like the maxi. The front bumper cover looks like an Altima SE-R.

wow, can you push the front wheels back any farther? It looks like a bus (or a toyota). The front looks like an altima, the back looks like a civic still on the jack stands. That car does not look put together well at all. How can Nissan do some things so amazingly well on some cars, then screw everything up on others?

Now reviewing the pictures again, there is not one feature interior or exterior I like on that car. Nothing. Not the tail lights, not the ridiculous "wood" trim, not the misproportions, not the inaccessible-to-driver glove box, not the side mirrors, nothing.

Wow, the last good-looking Sentra Nissan made was the boxy early-Nineties version
(Although I did own a '96 Sentra).
This one is is awful.

The all-new 2007 Nissan Sentra represents a revolution in the advancement of Nissan’s popular compact sedan. This new, sixth generation Sentra is unlike any that has come before – with more style, space, quality, performance and interior flexibility for active lifestyles.

Built on Nissan’s new “C” platform, the 2007 Sentra features an all-new, standard 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, standard 6-speed manual transmission or fuel-efficient Nissan Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) and responsive handling.

The 2007 Sentra is scheduled to go on sale in fall 2006 and is expected to have a MSRP starting at around $15,000 (nicely equipped with power door locks and windows, side-impact curtain air bags and air conditioning).

I think they hired the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy team to make the new cars "cute and fun".

What happend to the 300SX, 240, Skyline, Silvia.....? I realize this is just an econo FWD sport compact type car. However, the Civic, Protege, 3, Focus, etc never looked that horrid.

rolleyes.

All car companies do that to some extent.

Think of all the new Mazdas, Dodges, etc..... Similar style.

The Mazda6 lines did not translate well to the Mazda3 (sorry but that's my opinion).
Same applies here...they tried to make a mini-Altima and it doesn't work.

Small cars need their own style. If they ever try to make the miata look like the RX8 I will barf.

Matching the grill and other brand-marketing pieces of the car is alright but they are going overboard with it.

true. I don't know what happened to the back of this car though. The SER hopefully will be more appealing.

Maybe their whole design team is working on the GT-R so they just took a maxima and trimmed the body panels to fit a Sentra chassis. Cuz that's what it looks like to me...

Well, I can forgive them if they really do release the GT-R here now.
However, all we have is rumor.

OMG! That thing makes me ashamed to own a Nissan. I couldn't believe it. I actually refreshed the page cause I couldn't believe it. They failed the first time, which is why the sentra's previous body was extended. And then failed again, MISERABLY!!
