Apparently Toyota is well aware that the North American market may view the Yaris compact as wanting in the power and handling department. Stuart found a Yaris on display at the L.A. auto show tuned by Street Image with a ton of TRD parts that may address this issue directly. Highlights include 18-inch wheels, a Sportivo suspension, lightweight flywheel and mechanical LSD. Street Image, known for its tuned Scions and Avolons from SEMA, also added an Eclipse AV/Nav system and custom rear subwoofer housing.

I wonder what's going to happen here. Scion is supposed to be the youth oriented brand.

The irony in the automotive world these days is : Market products to the 'youth movement' and the baby boomers will follow.

Eh....kinda true. But no brand has an average buyer younger than 30 because:

A) There are so many baby boomers
B) Baby boomers end up buying a lot of the cars for younger people.

I don't think average buyer age is an accurate way of saying average driver age.

I also don't think the Yaris will steal many sales from Scion (unless pricing makes it more attractive) because the hatch is ugly and the small sedan isn't in the Scion line up. Plus you don't get your accessories from Toyota.

Doesn't anyone think that is the most hideous thing on 4 wheels!?!? The front looks like a baby hippo and the interior is a sea of gray plastic that looks like no different from the "echo"!
