So I bought a bottle of touch up paint for my 02 Protege and after giving them my VIN upon request they told me I needed #28. My car's paint code is 24E which is Shimmering Sand Metallic. The bottle I got is WAY too silvery, there is absolutely no beige in it.
I went back to the dealer and they opened their book and did a search for 24E and it came out with the item number of #28 (they use the last two numbers of a long number).
My questions now...
-anyone with a light colored car ever have to apply multiple coatings for it to "darken" the filled in area to match the original paint?
-anyone ever get a bottle of touch up that was mixed bad and the color didnt match?
The other possibility was that the paint bottle was just labeled wrong. Im thinking of ordering a bottle of 28 from a different dealer...
...I had touch up paint for my Miata and it was a perfect match just wondering if Im loosing it.
