I've been investigating this little "secret" about the BJ series...
Mazda Switzerland has equipped/sold a few units of the 323F 2.0 (p5) with Superchargers, today I got the confirmation email about that "rumour" from Mazda CH.
I'll try to get some details about that baby....
I thought I should let you know (sun)

Hey since that SC must also replace the intake manifold where it is, that would mean no fear of loose screws for all! For some reason this is so exciting for me even though I'm satisfied with the power my car has with intake/header/catback/udp/intake_cam. I don't know what it is, superchargers just seem like safer and reliable things to me for some reason. Maybe it's just because they can be installed so cleanly.
Time for another awesome Japanese -> English translation quote.

Power egg appears to be same thing as adding 2-4 ounces of acetone to every 10 gallons of gas-it initiates complete combustion of the gas. I like the s/c setup on the ricoh racing link showing s/c on FSZE motor. Looks like it eliminates the strut tower bar though. I might actually consider doing this, with more research........somebody, anybody hurry & talk me out of it.

Never heard of the adding of acetone. I've heard of adding some other industrial solvent (can't remember the name) but if it's what I'm thinking that's just to raise the octane level of your fuel (ie. homebrew race fuel). And definitely not something you want to leave in you fuel system very long, as it will eat away at gaskets and seals.
what this thing seems to be is like those silly magnet things sold over here that wrap around your fuel line that supposively ionizes the fuel and enables it to burn more effeceintly. And it looks like you drop this ceramic ball that has some rare earth metal into your tank and then after 100,000 Kilometers you fish it out with a magnet on a string and replace it with a new one. It's suppose to improve power and gas mileage.

Its called toulene and its pure octane if you add about 10% to your gas it just increases the octane level

Go to smartgas.net & read up. I'm not looking to raise octane levels, my car does not need it. I'm talkin about more mileage & less carbon build up from unburnt fuel (wasted fuel). I'm getting 50-75 miles more a tank depending on driving habits which is about a $4.50 - $6.00 rebate on every tank at current prices ($2.10 a gallon for regular). The more gas costs the more money this saves me. The gallon of acetone costs approx $14.00 & there are approx 25 tanks in that gallon at the rate of 4-5 ounces in 14 gallons of gas. 25 X 4.50 - 6.00 = $112.50 - $150.00 of savings that the gallon of acetone generates so it turns $14.00 into $112.50 - $150.00 or more if tamer driving habits are utilized. Getting 9-10x returns on your investments many other places these days? My tailpipe is not sooty carbon black either so I'm guessing this also might slow the egr clogging issues these cars have. We'll see. I'm well aware of the other little octane raising tricks. That would be silly for this vehicle & not what I'm doing.

I would love to see some more pictures of the intake manifold, maybe some underside shots to see the awd, the transfer case and axles, his exhaust set up, his ecu (is it piggy backed? oem? etc), How hard was it to do? how much did it cost, did he have to alter the hood or hinges to make it all fit?
Shit, ask if they want to join the board so we can bask in the beauty of their supercharger

The Taiwan/Japanese and German/Nederlands setups seem ok, and all we need is the IM and mounting hardware, and we can buy the EMS, pulleys and M45/M62 screw locally. No reason it can't be done if most the work has been done already...

Yeah "it's for pussies" means women love it when you take them somewhere & they don't have to sweat the whole time which means you get some pussy. Guess your palm doesn't mind going without AC. No AC would be great in places without summer or on a race car. Unless one or more of those conditions exist then you're just making excuses for something else.

Thanks for your Mazda supercharger kit enquiry.
At this time we do not have a kit-type solution for the Mazda range.
We have been concentrating our development & engineering on the larger
Chevrolet & Ford engines, however we have begun the design of our some
of our other solutions and intend to release them during the next year.
One of our significant challenges is the availability of engine data and
the ability of installers to integrate the supercharger into the engine
management and calibration systems.
We will keep you informed as we continue to develop a comprehensive
range of kits.

Hello,
I'm a member of an online forum called MSprotege.com
(http://www.msprotege.com). There has been a grassroots effort over the
past year to build a supercharger for the 2.0L (and possibly 1.8 and 1.6
FS and BP engine variants) available in the US (known as Proteges here,
323/323F, Familia/Sport20s, elsewhere). The grassroots project has had
many delays, it is of unproven reliability, and is based on a
centrifugal s/c that requires the removal of "creature comforts", such
as the air conditioning compressor. Needless to say, a market exists for
this vehicle and it's variants for a reliable, supported, product (much
like the Jackson Supercharger kits available in the US for other makes).
The grassroots effort information can be had here:
Recently, this thread was created on the MS Protege boards, renewing
much more interest:

discussions going back to 2003:

by a member in Germany, along with foreign projects such as these to add
fuel to the discussion:

and

That said, there appears to be some connection between Harrop, Magunson,
and Bemani of Swtizerland: http://www.bemani.ch/english/home_en.htm
I would imagine that the feasiblity of such a product is not an issue,
as it has been done. Would your company have any information about this,
so should we contact someone else? Please advise as the interest is
great for the right marketer of such an item.

I also emailed "Peter Baumann" off the first page and it bounced back.

I've been whining about SCs for months now. I want one a lot but don't have the knowledge, skills, time, or energy to do what Brian has been doing with his 944. Someone make me a kit or I'll be forced (pun intended) to go FI with a turbo.
I'm a HUGE fan of the SC whine when paired with a nice exhaust to balance it out. Don't want to sound like an electric car or anything.

SuperMattyP or something like that was his name before he was banned on here. He got about 160whp nonintercooled. It forces a removal of the A/C... well his did because it wasn't a roots intercooler.

To put the Mazda in Switzerland "rumours" to rest. Email from info@mazda.ch, Monday, 5/7/2007, on my inquiry per the same:
Dear Dimitrios,
Yes, the US Protégé was the 323F in Europe and Familia in Asia.
Concerning supercharger for this model, it is true that a supercharger version was developed by an independent Swiss tuner for the 2.0 engine and that a few cars were converted by customers. To our knowledge, this was no kit, but a modification done by the tuner. This was no official version sold by Mazda (Suisse). Still to our knowledge, the tuner is no longer converting 323's.

They're the OEM; it's not like they're going to keep track of every modifier/tuner out there, much less support it, even further less provide hard tech data.
I agree on which Swiss Tuner; I'll shoot them another email.
That'd be like saying Chevy would have fully supported Yanko modifieds with a warranty and performance numbers.

So, I get a random email today in reply to my 4 week old reply where they stated it was a turbocharger in lieu of a supercharger.
That said:
Dear Mr. Saranteas,
You are indeed correct, it was a supercharger. We did ask some dealers who had cars transformed for their customers at the time. It appears that, according to their testimony 12 cars were transformed, of which, still according to the dealers, more than half experienced technical problems.
The firm offering the kit and transformation was Wittwer Motorsport in Arbon (Switzerland).
Since it's a long time ago, we don't know if it still is available.
We hope this answers your question

(Translation from German [edited for grammar/paraphrasing]:
Wittwer Motorsport in Arbon have developed and a compressor kit set out for the Mazda 323F and the Mazda 6, using Z-Engineering compressor ZR2.
Wittwer is developing a kit for the Mazda MX5 using our product.
Therefore, this assumes that Z Engineering provided Wittwer with the compressor and/or other technology to develop the kit [for the 323/323F].
Going to Z Engineering's page (in German) would then prompt the user for the English speaking brethren amongst us:
http://www.z-engineering.com/engl/Index_en.htm:
Dear customer,
Thank you for your interest in our products!
From now on, MC Racing is the responsible distributor of our supercharger products into all "english speaking countries".
Please visit the Homepage of MC Racing for further informations"
The MC Racing URL yields this page, which is all VW it would seem:

Trying to get more information the Ruf Kompressor in Google (and Mazda):
http://www.google.com/search?q=Ruf+Kompressor+mazda&btnG=Search&hl
So I sent an email to MC Racing (forwarded my Mazda Switzerland email to them along with a link to this thread). Their reply:
hello dimitrios
mc racing did never suppy superchargers for the mazda 323/protege model.
we had kits for the mx-5 model (nb-model) several years ago.
we will shortly bring back the superchargerkit for the mazda mx-5 (nb model) as a summer revival.
i want to state clear that we do not have anything to do with the mentioned tuner stated in the e-mail of mazda switzerland.
we do not have any relationship with wittwer motorsport.
our supercharger systems have to successfuly prove a test of quality on different cars before we do release them.
kind regards,
