How long can you go once gas light comes on?

Recently got an 02 LX and have wondered how long I can go once my gas light comes on? Anyone have an idea how many gallon/s are left when the light comes on?

zero gallons when the lights on, it means there is no fuel pressure at the fuel pump. Your riding on whatevers left in the system.

Seems to be quite alot though. Usually it comes on if your on a hill or something and the gas sloshes away from the pick up tube. Even if you get back on strait ground the light will stay on anyway. IVe done at least 20 miles. Although for the previous reason it wont be the same for everyone.

2 sounds right...my old car was like 2.1 and ive drove 50+miles with the light on in my p5 before

yeah, you can drive another 60 miles or so when the light comes on........before you run outta gas.

.....and thats in normal driving conditions, not speeding and redlining that beech.

I try and fill my tank just before or just after the light comes on, but I've gone as far as forty miles or so.

I agree, 2 gallons is about right. I've gone 30-40 miles on it after the light came on, although I was keeping the rpm's under 3k.

I can pull about 30-40 miles under normal, slightly ;) spirited driving and feel "comfortable" about making a gas station

By the way the odometer/fuel gauge calibration is great, it reads 1/2 tank when I actually have a 1/2 tank left and the last 1/2 doesnt fly by like in some other cars Ive had... the fuel gauge seems more linear then the ones in the past.

it means you have a full tank of gas left, so keep on driving buddy :)

when light goes ON, there are 2.5 gallons left in the tank. That will give you nearly 60-65 miles, deppending on the octane # and your driving habbits.

While full of worry, I made it around 70 slow miles in my 2000 ES after the light came on.
