Hi there..

I have a new (near new now with about 5000 miles) 2005 Tribute that has kind of a burning smell.. (hard to describe) after it's been driven for as little as 5-10 minutes. I chalked it up to new car material burnoff and assumed it would be gone by now. It's not brakes or tires... (at least I don't think so)

Anyone else experience this?
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Dorian

pop the hood and look all around for leaks (oil and such) look under the car so see if anything got on the exaust or anything underneath the engine bay.

i don't know but this is what i would do before i go any further

I don't have an answer for you more than whats posted. But if youcan't get help here, try a Ford Forum. The Escape is essentially the same vehicle as the Tribute and someone there may have experienced the same problem. Blueovalnews.com used to have a forum like this. Just a thought.

maybe it's leaking fluid and that fluid falls on the exhaust and get burned, hence the smell, just a thought

i have never had any problem with the tribute, other than one electric problem i had but that's it

hope this helps

If you can't figure it out then take it to service. you are under warranty.

(Mazda designed the Tribute originally)

wow, never had any burning smells with our 05 tribby, with the 2.3l in it. i would definetly get it in for some warranty inspection. ;)
