Hello Everyone, I just want to say how glad I am to find a group of people as interested in such an amazing make of car. I have been searching for some time to find a site such as this. I have a few reasons why, however I must confess my driving reason has been that I simply cannot find any custom parts for my 1996 Mazda 626LX its my frist mazda and my second "tuner" Im quite interested in setting it apart from other vehicles. If anyone has any information on where I can find some parts for it (engine or cosmetic upgrades) that would be great, if not, ill hang around and keep involved in the site and eventually post some pictures of my baby. Hey there, thanks for the replies, and the site, I will definately check it out. I beleive it is a FS engine, I just aquired the car, still learning the specs. but Its a 16valve DOHC 4Cyl 5speed. fun lil car :)

If it's the 2.0L FS motor, which it sounds like it is, you have the same motor as the 2001+ Proteges. There are plenty of upgrades for the motor and it just depends on what you are looking for and whether it will work in your engine bay. Suspension I'm not sure about, but there ought to be a few people around here that know that stuff.

Corksport worked out great, I found a lot of great parts for the car, now I need to find a bit more money. :P but I have that aspect lined up I think. I know all I have done since I got here is ask questions,but I have only found two body kits for the 626 and niether of them appear to be very high quality or asthetically pleasing for that matter, anyone have some places for body upgrades?

I'm not sure if the rear calipers on the 626 are like the Protege calipers, but for ours there is a 14mm bolt diectly behind the piston on the backside of the caliper. Remove that bolt and there is an allen screw behind it. Loosen the allen screw until you can compress the caliper. When everything is back together you just start tightening the allen screw until the brakes grab and then back off a quarter turn.

I just changed my brakes two or three weeks ago, and that sounds like its right on the money from what I remember.

Once you hit around 75k miles.. watch your tranny. 626s in that year range were notorious for their trannys disintegrating at high milage.

gf's tranny went, then one of the cylenders lost compression..

its been down for a year waiting for some place to get back to us on an engine/tranny swap.
