I just wanted to make sure that i just need to replace my pads and rotors. I have 75,000 miles on my car, about 30-40,000 on the front brakes, the rears are the originals...I have had no problems with them until just recently. a couple months back i started getting a squeak, but usually only AFTER braking. I checked on here and found out that was a normal sign of brakes starting to go. i decided to try to wait out the winter, as I needed to get new tires late in the summer and that hurt the car funds. the squeak evolved to squealing when braking, so i've starting checking prices online for new pads/rotors. but then a couple days ago i started getting a scraping every once in a while, the next day it went to scraping every time i hit the brakes, and this morning i noticed it was scraping even after releasing the brake. i looked at the rotor and it is pretty beat up...there is a nice grind section down the middle with fresh metal showing. i just wanted to make sure that i only need to replace the pads/rotors and not the bearings or seals or anything else....

just have them turned as opposed to getting new ones? whats the advantage of new vs turned, and where do i go to get that done?

any mechanic that does brake work should be able to turn your rotors, the advantage of that would be cheaper

you can get new rotors for well under 20.00 and they will be fine for the rear.....
