Engine shut off while downshifting and wont restart

I was wondering if anyone knows what could possibly be going on with my car. I was making a sharp turn and gearing down and the engine just turned off. This had happened to me a few times before but I was always able to just turn the key again and restart it. The engine turns on but it is not catching. I don't know if this is relevant or not, but my belts have been making a lot of noise lately but I haven't had the money to fix them.
Any comments would be highly appreciated.

Check the t-belt....has it re-started at all??

Mine was doing something very similiar, but after it died, I would let it sit for 10-15 minutes and it would restart. Then problem would happen all over again. I tried EVERYTHING and nothing worked....then I swapped the VAF in favor of an rx7 VAF, and swapped out my ecu from another LX protege.....haven't had the problem since.
