hi i installed the engine cover from kafai today...
install was easy...
- unscrew the bolts to put the bracket on the valve cover
- screw the bolts back on (8-10nm/6-8lb-ft)
- put the engine cover at the top and tighten it with 6mm bolts....
engine bay is a bit dirty, but who cares... i drove around and tested how hot the engine cover gets... well.. it does get pretty hot (i guess about 55-65C degrees), but i think it should be alright...

That looks real good. Im about to get me one of those. Install looks real good too. Did you ask about painting? Im curious to see if it can be painted. I want to paint mine a red color with white lettering. How much was the final price? How many does Kai have left in stock?

Did we find out if the cover is paintable? Does it say anything on the engine cover or just have the Flyin M symbol?

surely it is paintable,but it's a rather flexible/soft material...

What exactly is it made of? Plastic? What? Did Ka Fai tell you the piece is paintable? Is it going to stay on the piece or chip/flake off after a period of time?

haven't talked to kafai about paintability (nice word)...
o btw: it says something like "dohc 16 valve" and "mazda" or something on the cover..
ahm i don't really know what it's made of since there is no material info printed on the cover, but my guess would be polyethlyne...highly(!) flexible, therefor: if you want to paint it, be sure to use a lof of ..mhm..how's it called it english.."softener"??

"Description: ... A plastic made with a chrome logo..."

How about a week from today? Thats when I get my paycheck and I'll have the most money. How do you want to do this? You want me to buy both covers and have you give me your money or vice versa?? I can do either or man. Let me know.

It'd be nice if it were in carbon fiber.

No problem man! Good to hear that you finally ordered your turbo. So that means you won't be needing your header then, right?!! Nah, just playing. Mines on the way so I won't be needing yours... When do you think you'll have your kit pieced together?

Back on topic though, the engine cover is made of polyurethane? Thats good I guess because then the possibly of the cover breaking, cracking etc is super minimal. Plus it would be easier to paint than say plastic, right?
