Last Friday, I parked my P5 along the street in front of my parents house. Well, around 2pm the trash guy came to my door and said that they had hit my car.

Well, I respect that they came and told me because 'Waste Managment' is known to do hit and runs.

Well needless to say, I am glad I own 3 of my own cars right now as I have a few extra's... The Mazda won't be able to be fixed untill the first week of January. They won't give me a rental untill the date of appointment with the body shop.

I got one estimate from Mazda. I will give a cookie to whoever can get how much the damage is going to cost 'Waste Managment' to fix.

One of the guys here in town (yellow P5 too, hmmm) had his car hit by the garbage truck last summer. Only the truck didn't side-swipe him. It was one of those trucks with the forklift on the side for lifting the large waste bins.

Anyhow, the operator of the garbage truck forgot to raise the forklift, so as he went down the alley, the forklift literally tore through the entire side of the car. Both driver's side doors had to be replaced, as well as all body panels on the driver's side, the windshield, side-mirror, front and rear bumpers, the hood had to be fixed, plus his custom leather interior had to be replaced for the two new doors...

He was without his car for nearly 3 months, and the bill ended up coming to just over $10k CA (about $8500US). Crazy! I hope your car isn't gone as long; good luck with the repairs.

Thank you for the kind words!

I really don't want to wait to long. The repairs from the Mazda Dealership after all said an done is, $2850. Doesn't seem like to much, but definetly more than I wanted! Blah.

It just sucks that I can't have the rental untill the car goes into service. I hate driving my del Sol, and now I am going to have too! :( Oh well, the del Sol is going to be sold on the 9th of January, untill than I am trying to drive my parents cars as much as possible since they also have an extra car.

I would say that Waste Man. has drivers that are blind if i had the pic i would post it they back in to the side of a car audio shop i use to work at and it caved the whole damn wall in and it was kind of funny, but I have just a little damage from some stupid girl that was more worried about what was going on in her car than the parking lot and smashed in the the rear pass side of me 3 months after i got the P5, and that was up in the $3000 area so i would say that you are going to be in the $5000 to $6000 area the OEM wheels are like $300 a pc.

yeah good luck with it. when i had my wreck it also took 2 months for me to get it. although my wreck was $9800 worth of damage and the main reason it kept taking so long is cuz the shop could NOT understand MAZDASPEED protege........not protege. so they kept having to send parts back cuz they wouldn't fit on my car. they tried to put a stock lx bumper on my car for a while there.

Alpinejwl
12-24-2005, 07:43 PM
dude so how much is the damage?

hookdupdelsol
12-25-2005, 12:59 PM
Wow... The damage is a million dollars. They decided my car was worth that much so it will be getting fixed the first week of January. I hope a million dollars in damage doesn't take to long to fix. 'rolls eyes'
