A while go I did some research online cause I was trying to install an ATX cooler to my P5 and I came across these 2 great write-ups.
They aren't for P5 but the steps are pretty much the same for most cars.
Wish this would help those who are also doing research on the same topic.

Hey guys and gals, I was just curious to see your rection on putting a trans cooler on a p5 doing 100 miles on highway at 80 mph. I have read and heard that most tranny die because of heat and friction. For tranny fluid i use royal purple stuff. Thank's sunny

do you use synthetic stuff? (sorry, don't remember if purple only makes synthetic stuff or not, probably not). if you do, how is it?. how many miles on the car, when did you switch?

Royal purple I believe makes only synthetic fluids.

Been running 20000lb hayden stacked plate/AMSOIL combo. Very noticeable difference in line temps. Feed is right at being too hot to hold & return is only luke warm. Mine is fed thru factory cooler(radiator) first then thru the hayden then back to tranny. I will be adding the extra filter mentioned in the how-to just for more protection.

FYI - this is not to say that there isn't a better oil cooler....

I've got mine from summitracing. The price is about the same from Pepboys or AutoZone.

Was that inline filter in the how-to magnetic? How many miles is that good for? Saw perma-cool filter with oil filter type filter but not sure I have room for that. Had same issue figuring out where to put remote oil filter to run engine oil cooler.
