My CEL came on last week and the 2 codes were one of the oxygen sensors and the mass air flow sensor. Since I have the 4-1 OBX headers i figured that it was nothing. But I did the modification to the 02 sensor and my CEL has not been on for my headers in 6000 miles. And yesterday my car started getting really jerky every time i would press or let go of the gas and wen i pushed the clutch in it stalled. 5 mins later i started it back up and it ran fine. any ideas or suggestions?

I found http://cgi.ebay.com/Mazda-Protege-95-96-MAF-mass-airflow-sensor_W0QQitemZ5647411055QQcategoryZ88433QQssPage NameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. Will this fit?

Thanks

Nope it wont work.. the protege was only offered in a 1.5 or a 1.8 in those model year... if I'm not mistaken you have a 2.0 P5 right?? different engine :)

There was also a 1.6 offered in 02 for the protege, and the part number for that is ZL01-13-215R-00

the part number for yours is FS1E-13-215R-00 I'd try http://www.mazdastuff.com

I could be wrong but I don't think that the O2 sensor would cause the car to be "jerky". The O2 sensor is only there for emmissions purposes I think. If the MAF is not working properly then I am thinking that maybe the engine is not getting the proper amount of fuel based on the amount of air coming in ? Causing the jerkiness.......

Someone care to elaborate or clarify ?

You're right... the 02 sensor wont make it run "jerky" lean or rich maybe, but not like what hes saying... its probably a MAF or BAC valve, etc... (shrug) at least thats my 2 cents... :)

Try cleaning out the EGR valve.

EGR or more likely, IAC... If you put i nthe clutch, and the car didn't catch itself, it's a stuck IAC. Just dissasemble, clean, and lube. Worked for me.
