Mazda to Introduce
'Family of Experts' System

-New mechanism set up to use retirees' skills and expertise by rehiring them as specialists

HIROSHIMA, Japan--In April 2006, Mazda Motor Corporation will introduce a new system of reemploying its retirees, called the "Family of Experts" system, in response to the Japanese government's revised Law Concerning Stabilization of Employment of Elder Persons. This new rehiring program will cover all Mazda employees who traditionally retire upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 years old, and provides an opportunity for them to continue working. The "Family of Experts" system will commence in April 2006, and will be applicable to all retiring employees.

Good for Mazda in that they're basically "locking in" the current workforce and will have experienced people in all facets of the company...Bad for the the new guy trying to get an entry level position - (one would assume)

Yeah...There is a growing MAJOR concern about Japan's aging population...Not enough newborns and overwhelming numbers of "Senior Citizens" is not a great combination for any society.
