ok so today i was swapping from my 4lug rear drum to 5lug all disc...and it went smothly excpet for getting the driverside axle to come out of the hub....passenger side came out so effing easy....does anyone know how to get the driverside one out?(boom07) just hitting it with a hammer does not work...any ideas? im lost.

hit it harder, and dont use a rubber mallet.

yea well i hit it so hard it started to mushroom...was using a solid metal hammer

Use a long breaker bar.

to push the axle through the hub/knuckle thingy? how would that work?

no...that was a story all in its own...haha. had LOTS of fun with it. but i got it off.

no...that was a story all in its own...haha. had LOTS of fun with it. but i got it off.Your lucky..The dealer had to replace my Axle hub and spindle because they could not get them to seperate without damaging them when doing My LSD last week....So I got new parts for nothing...Nothing wrong with getting new bearings and Axles for nothing.

hrm... hope i dont have to go that routeIf you got it apart..it should go back together....they had to press mine apart and it damaged the hub and axle...they decided new ones were in order..Gotta lova a warranty!(thumb)

no..i got the nut off...but not the axle...thats what wont come out

no..i got the nut off...but not the axle...thats what wont come outEwww....Not good....Be careful beacause if you mushroom it too bad it WON't Come out and it will be useless....Try some PB blaster OR some Zoom spout rust buster....supposedly the axles are SS and the hubs are not and the Dissimilar metals have a reaction and bond to each other...You might have to buy a new axle unfortunately..better have a (cheers)

well the one i mushroomed is the old axle...its still connected to the 5lug hub. hopefully mine wont be as much of a pain since its newer... what was that stuff you said to try?
