I don't have any heat in the car I replaced the thermostat and it didn't help none. Maybe the core or heater control valve? I don't know, any help would be appreciated.

i had this problem too. if you replaced the thermo, its most likely the core.

Now you have a spare thermostat. :) If it had been a thermostat issue, you'd see it in your temp gauge.

Haha, I had the same problem after doing a mod in my dash. Forgot to reconnect the cable and freaked out for about a week until I realized my fault :p

mine's still blowing cold air. i have to take the upper part of the console off and then it blows. it's acting as if while the console was connected it was shuttin off a vaccum hose but when i disconnect the console face it works. console i mean the assembly around the radio and temp control

which is odd because all that is controlled electronically from the panel is whether it's on recirc or not, A/C on or off, and fan speed. Temp and vent position is all just cable driven.

that's what i said. but that is the way it acts. as if i have to take the face plate off in for it to come on. if not it's all cold air

get an engine block heater :)
With the miles on your car I wouldn't be totally shocked if the thermostat was going.

I hid mine behind the lower grille now.. I "modded" my grille so that it can fold down for easy access :P

i'm still having problems guys. i still have to pulll my console out for the heat to work! for newer viewers: i have to pull my console out for the heat to come on. it's like when the console is connected it's squeezing a hose where there's no pressure coming out, and when i pull the console out all the pressure is blown. but there is no hoses like that. i pull the console out and the heat comes on. weird?!?! i checked the clip in the back along the firewall and it's connected. i have no idea? any more ideas guys?

ok, you're saying that you're pulling out the console and it starts to work..it may be that IF the wires are connected to the white parts, that you simply don't have the vents lined up where they need to be.. behind the console. get back there and check it out. also, check your coolant level.

Thanks a bunch....I just bought a used 2002 Protege "as is" and I realized after I bought it it had not heat....checked the cable behind the glove box and that was it....It had come off.....I am not a garage mechanic and it would have at least cost an hour's labor at a dealer.
