I have a 98 protege lx... Im bored with it but too lazy to search for a new car. Are there any swaps that fit with more hp? if so where can i get?

Also why is it that you cant chirp pass 1st gear. ANNOYS THAT SHIT OUT OF ME. everytime i slam it into second the rpms just drop!!! i live where it snows - so ripping though the snow is always needed and its a bitch in my car. and some traying is always needed when you have nothing to do!!!

So, how many mile does this car have on it, and what do you want it to do for you? Are you willing to spend a hundred dollars to make it faster? How about a thousand? What are your performance goals anyway? Have you ever worked on cars before?

I bought a cold air intake from Ebay today for $35.00, $25.00 of which was S&H.
A new exhaust system is a good mod but it can run several hundred dollars.
A new chip maybe, again, several hundred depending on your source.
Be aware that your engine is a system in interconnected systems. Start changing things and you may get more than you bargained for.

Yeah i am always working on cars. I have a pretty broad knowledge just not as much about my own car. I just want a little mroe get up and go.. the below 100whp SUCKS BALLS. I am so tired of my shit having difficultly if more than one person is in the car or if im on a hill. I am just trying to figrue out what my options are.... swap, boost, chip etc. I dont really know what can be done to a 98 protege. I have just under 100,000miles on it. It runs strong except for slight things but nothing that isnt being worked on.
Just trying to learn a little more.
