March, 2005 - French Alps: I’ve completely defeated the 120i’s traction control and ESP programming, and I am now fully crossed-up sideways as our photographer Colin positions himself on the shoulder, trying his best to shoot me in all my imaginary WRC glory. Did he capture it? No? Bastard!
Getting the rear of the 150-hp 120i to chase the front is no easy task, but I’m driving like a madman on one of the most challenging alpine roads in France. It’s the middle of winter, my BMW companion is shod with snow tires, and I’m committed to all sorts of lunacy. Let’s try it again, shall we, Colin? Imagine this assignment- to drive three new US-unobtainable premium hatchbacks and flog the hell out of them over some 2,000 kilometers of Europe’s most challenging roads.
