Hey guys,

It's been a while since i've visited here, and I apologise, because I forgot to fill you in that I actually completed the build of putting the MSP LSD diff into a box suitable for the BG's.

Well, to be completely truthful, I used a 2nd gen tranny out of a KJ Laser (same as the BA Astina) due to it being in really good condition. But anyway, I managed to land a diff into australia, modified it to the way that turfburn had, had a few other little things done inside the box and yeah, threw it together! :D Oh yeah, did have to shave the speedo ring gear from what I'm aware (i didn't fit the bearings)

Anyway some pics.
Here's the diff just before going into the box. I tell ya what, I was there when we were doing the welding, and i tell ya, it wasn't easy, the dam thing wanted to crack all the time. But we got it eventually. (thumb)

Here's the pile that went in. Included new 5 puck carbonic clutch and modified pressure plate, freshly machined and balanced flywheel, new custom shafts, transmission cooler and ofcourse, the box.

So yeah, after fitting my new VJ23 and gtr manifold, custom dump pipe, and a retune, I was posting a figure of 273Hp (203Kw) at the wheels at 19psi. A couple of weeks later I went to the track a pulled a 13.03 @ 111.8MPH using semi-slick tyres. By this time the motor had dropped compression and was loosing power. Time for a rebuild! (laugh) I'm more than confordent once I have full power back, I'll be opening the 12 second door. :)

Any chance you might share the secrets of your new clutch with us Rob?
It looks like you and I have about the same Hp goals so I'm keen to see how your clutch goes (and drives on the street) before I get mine made.
I was lucky enough to get hold of a decent efini lsd box and shafts so I'm also curious about your cooler setup. What are you gonna use for a pump? A Tilton or a Mocal? Or perhaps a Holley fuel pump?

Mate, this is by far the best clutch I have ever had and driven in any car. My car is an everyday driver and I have no issues with it on the street. The take up is smooth with no sudder and no harsh engagement like i had with my old 5 puck ceramic. Due to it being a puck clutch, it still has a small ride point, but as I said, it takes up really nice.

Before I get to the specs, the car has had this clutch in it for around 3 months now, in which time it has visited the track as well as my own little practice sessions ( (laugh) ) and well at the track it didn't even bat an eyelid with putting out 2nd gear burnouts like pictured above. A total of 4 on the day. It drives exactly like it does the day i drove it there. :)

As I mentioned, I used the 4WD fly and pressure plate. The clamp pressure has been modified to 2100lbs (this can be made a little higher if your going to push power above 300Hp just to be safe), and the clutch plate is a 5 puck type with Carbonic material. Size is 235mm and the flywheel was machined to suit this size. That's about all i know on it sorry dude...I get a guy in Queensland, Aus to build them for me, his name is Jim Berry.

At this stage, i'm not actually using a pump...I haven't found one for the right price and the right flow characteristics. At presant time I'm basically "using the force" to make it flow. I also wanted to make the pump either thermostat or speed controlled so that the oil doesn't remain too cold.

Yeah they are pretty hard to come buy. I did have a guy i was using to get stuff, but he's currently the reason why my car is off the rd with no turbo...so yeah. :(

You need to find a electric fuel pump from a mid 80's subaru brat, they only flow about 6 psi... I have used a few as rear diff pumps before... I like the smokey burnout...

Ahh cheers dude, I'll keep an eye out on ebay and the like. We never had a few surbaru's released over here. :(

What happened - The bearing in the turbo wasn't soo good, so I sent it back, and well, 2 months later I'm still waiting for a replacement.
