I still have a clutch to buy for the engine swap project. From what I’ve been able to gather, Act is good but, stiff as Bacardi. Spec is more user friendly but, is over rated as far as torque goes, i.e, starts slipping under continuous heavy usage. Exedy gets little if any attention so they’re not even on the radar.

For $309.00, I can get a stage II Spec that is supposed to be rated for 309 fpt. If I install it right, resurface the flywheel and use brake cleaner to make sure it’s not contaminated, then brake it in as instructed, it should fit my needs. I don’t figure I’ll ever be pulling more that 250fpt. Plus, if I buy in the next couple of days, I get a free shirt.

The Act clutch is $373.00 and only has 253 fpt holding capacity. I just can’t see this being the correct route for me. There have been some people whose knowledge I respect that have had nothing but good things to say about Act, but I’m having a hard time justifying the added expense for the downgrade in performance rating.

Any suggestion before I jump?

I see ACT has a store in Portland. I'll stop in and see what they can do for me. I had already made up my mind to go with the Spec but, I’m sure I can be persuaded.
Thanks.
