Indeed, they are fun cars. Hence the reason I have two.

BTW, wrong forum! Check out the Miata forum on this board. ;)

I learned to drive manual on one. Fun little car. Great stock short throw shifter.

Dude, you loved it for 24 hours, then it got wrecked. Hope you get it back next week! I gave wrecked miata points for you.

I owned a 94 for over 2 years before getting my P5. The Miata is definetly the most fun car I've ever driven. It only had 128HP, but on just about any road it was a blast to drive. Tight handling, short throw everything, the connection with the road... it was great. I can't wait until I have enough money to get another one. (cheers)

I've been thinking about reverting my protege back to stock and spending the money from the parts on a $2006 GRM challenger miata project (similar to kevins^)

i've loved miatas since day 1. almost had one 6 years ago but went with CRX #2, and now due to "practicallity issues" i've got the P5. i'm trying to convince the wife to trade in her car for an SUV or take over my P5 then i can finally have a miata. i've driven quite a few and loved it every time. definitely on the "one day i'll get one" list. is it just me, or is that thing right hand drive? Still, cool as shit tho. Wouldn't that throw off the weight balance? I mean, I know the LS1 doesn't weigh THAT much, but I'm sure it has to be more than the Miata engine....and I'm too tired to look up numbers...so some1 correct me if I'm wrong.

It looks like the steering column is just laying in the floor. It's not RHD due to the placement of the heater core and brake/clutch master cylinders.

You're sort of right... it seems to add 150-200ish pounds for everything in the conversion. The engine itself is barely heavier than the stock one, but they also add a much stronger transmission and a MUCH stronger rear end than the stock 6/7" diff, and that's where I think most of the extra weight comes from. They still have close to 50/50 weight distribution, though. :D There's a couple guys who just finished doing theirs with LS1/LS6's and they're making around 380rwhp N/A, I think.

The biggest problem then probably is traction... they all seem to be trying to get the biggest fattest tires on the rear possible.

Looks like this will require an official test pilot. I am at your service.
