I got mine on pre order so hopefully I'll have it on Tuesday. I played with it at best buy and its pretty sweet. I already bought two games, wireless adaptor and a controller. If anyone is getting one let me know your Live name.

Ha...you believe its coming out in March? Have you seen one in game screen shot using ps3 hardware yet? Nope...all movies and trailers. Has Sony talked about their online plan? Nope. Have they annouced Launch titles? Nope. But lets go with what they say...and its coming out in March....that means coming out in Japan in March. Therefore meaning, not coming out here till at least next fall. Seeing no manufacture has EVER released a system in summer seeing thats suicide. And sony is not trying a global launch..casue if they were, I hope they have been manufacturing systems already. If PS3 comes out in March, I would be amazed.

Really? I thought the game was amazing. I was originally gonnna buy it for my PC but my video card wouldn't give me nearly the top spectrum of the graphics. But then again, I LOVED the original call of duty. In fact, this one is getting top reviews everywhere. But yea, normally Launch titles are never truly impressive. If anything just good looking games and same old gameplay. But yea, in a year or two the games are truly going to be amazing.

i agree...the leap in gameplay/graphics/sound from xbox to 360 is not that big (from what i can tell with the games, demos, and vids i've seen)...i'm gonna wait on the ps3 and then compare.

You have to remember that developers were rushed with these launch titles. Games will improve graphically as time goes on, they are hardly running at their potential right now. Just think of the difference between Halo:CE and Halo2.

I am pretty excited for the release though. I just hope I get actually buy one on Tuesday.

Yea...we all know they annouced that date at E3....that doesn't mean crap frankly. I just don't see how they can release it in March with no friggin hardcore information about it. Honestly....no games have been shown in playable form, or shown in some form of true gameplay. Also, there has never been a fully functioning PS3 shown to the public. somethings you need to know about the 360

1. NONE of the new games at lauch are using more then one core. NONE.... you are hardly seeing what it's capable of yet.

2. You need hdtv to really see what it's able to do. Running it on some shitty 480i or 480p tv is pointless. Unless you have a good lcd, dlp or high end plasma, your tv ain't going to run it in true 720p hdtv. edtv is junk. The biggest thing about the ps3/360 is the hdtv side of things. Guess what? We all need new expensive tv's.

Best Buy did a reserve program for certain reward members and I think I was the first one who signed up haha. As soon as they allowed it I added it to my cart. So hopefully they'll mail it on monday to get to me on tuesday.

A lot of the xbox sets setup at wally marts are still only 480p even though they are on samsung lcd hdtv's. Just setup wrong.

Lots of people are going to get confused with hdtv and it's requirements and setting up everything right without tv's scaling to wrong res's and other issues. People are still confused at HDTV ready, EDTV, and so on for god sakes and I don't blame them

As for the shortages? What else is new? Every console has this problem and it's probably a marketing scam so they sell faster, and more $$$$

I have been playing COD2 on pc now for a bit, and I'm playing on a so so machine. 6800gt, 1280x1024 full everything 4xAA. Plays fine with the exception of a few area's that seem to slow down for no apparant reason....buggy I presume, and that is the one area the 360m will have an advantage at.

Will I purchase an Xbox 360 at some point, you bet. But for now, I am going to continue to enjoy my PS2 and my Xbox. The games continue to get better for Xbox and it's going to be around for a while. I don't see an HDTV in my immediate future.

I just spent a shot load of money on a home theater, front projector, 110" screen, new stereo and so on so I think if I hit the woman up for a new plasma or something I'll be pushing it.....especially since I also want a little thing called the Mazdaspeed 6 :)

And go and play Fear on the highest settings with your ram and video card for $250...i gaurentee you won't get anywhere near 30fps. And i love when companies release games that need updates every other week. Computer games just made developers lazy. My Xbox was modded and held over 30 games. All I had to do was download the files off of Torrentspy. Just had to purchase a HD and a couple of other parts, nothing out of the ordinary when compared to PCs.

I've been playing nothing but PC games for the past two months or so. Traded in my Xbox while I could still get a decent amount of credit. My computer isn't anything special but it can run Half-Life 2 at full settings smoothly so that can give you a basic idea. I've "sampled" just about every PC game I could think of, and just isn't my cup of tea. Haven't played F.E.A.R. yet because my video card can't keep up. I guess I just will never get used to playing with a mouse and keyboard.

On a side note I just bought a 27" LCD flat panel for my future 360. :)

What worries me is that the 360 is going to allow you to transfer files from your PC-->360. There are games that support user-created levels and tracks (Project Gotham). Seems to me that it might be a little too simple to spread some viruses through those shared files.

I actually work at a gamestop and my manager went to the Gamestop conference which is basically a huge tradeshow for EB and gamestop managers, they get to talk with sony, microsoft, and nintendo reps its 2nd to E3. And from what i have heard is that the PS3 is actually ready to launch, the system is good to go, but what sony is doing is waiting for atleast 30 launch titles to be fully developed before the release, and its rumord that spring of next year is the release date.. now with the 360s coming in shortage..its true...because I live in a small town there were 23 reserves for the bundle 360 system, we only got 8. some reason microsoft is fucking eb and gamestop and apparently wal-mart is getting atleast 50+ per store..dunno why but it is.The way they are going to distribute them is if you want a core system, come in and say you want it if we got it you get it, but if you want the bundle (better value) then you have to wait until after all the reserves have been filled..it goes down a list of who reserved 1st/2nd/3rd.

The 360 looks promising, right now nothing seems to be groundbreaking to me, but Im positive that later on after the developers get better with the development kits, better quality games will be pumped out.

As far as PC gaming? yeah right now the best looking games are on PC. But personally I only use PC for MMORPG, RTS, and FPS games.

But now it seems like the differences between consoles and PCs are starting to come together. Graphics are starting to compare to eachother quite nicely.

I was defending the 360 at first, but I am a PC Gamer first and foremost. If a game comes out for both machines, I'll play it on the PC first. That said, if it's a two or 4 player game like a sport game, then the xbox gets it. I do enjoy my Xbox quite a bit. I never owned a PS2 because most of the games seemed like console crap at first. But things are changing, games for the consoles are actually getting better, have more mature content, more in depth stories then they used to and so on. The cost of the HDTV for the 360 cannot be ignored this time around. YOU NEED HDTV this time. No exceptions. Of course you could get something like a VD-Z3 and play the 360 on your PC monitor for the time being. But, you won't be sitting on your nice couch.

The controller issues for the PC is a thing of the past. Heck, I plug my old xbox controllers into my pc and have for years. And the new 360 controllers are available for the PC NOW. But, keyboard and mouse will always reign supreme for FPS's and that is a fact. If "you" can't use them, it's not their fault, you are too lazy to learn it. The joystick does not have the response time, the quickness, the accuracy of a mouse and it never will.

Also, you can, I repeat, CAN plug your pc into the newer TV's and since you CAN use normal game controllers, you CAN enjoy the pc on your couch. I have done this quite a few times, widescreen, 110" of joy and it crushes the Xbox in quality.

As for all of these issues with PC games requiring this patch and that patch and whatever problem you complain of? What are you talking about. Been a PC gamer for 25+ years, I rarely have an issue. HL2 and that fucking excuse of an online service STEAM is my only major gripe. The damn thing requires updates every other day. All true points. I've hooked my computer up to my TV once and its nice, but its a pain dragging it out to the living room just to do it. My real main argument is the ever increasing requirments for the types of games i play on PC (FPS). The last time i updated was for Half Life 2 and that was about a year ago....now three or four new games require higher settings. Battlefield 2 is one of them. It just BARELY runs on my computer...and talk about a rushed game. That game needed a patch the second i popped it in my computer. If developers get lazy and just rush software to the market, the just fall back on the fact that you can patch it. I guess we should also make a point to say that Updates and Patches can be different. Counter strike got updates all the time, but that was more for new guns, new maps and things like that. Thats alright in my eyes, keeps the game fresh. And so far on consoles, that has been happening, and there really hasn't been a "patch" released. Wipeout Pure on my PSP has added like 3 new maps since the game came out. But your right, PCs and Consoles all have their home...I make them both my home, but majority of time goes to my consoles.

As for PS3 vs 360, what is the point of arguing it now? Just wait til the hardware comes out. Further, there are issues with which platform is easier to develop for, and Sony has been notorious for it's difficulty in developing their platforms. Carmack made a point of that in a recent interview. Either way, I am hoping to own both. 360 first, but possibly a PS3. Of course, my second kid will be born at the end of march, so it may not be terribly likely.

I also am a PC and console gamer. I find that the console vs pc war is a game of leapfrog. I have been gaming on all platforms for 20 years now. Consoles momentarily leap ahead, then the PC surpasses for a while and so on. Consoles have limited functionality but greater reliability. PCs have less reliability but massively greater functionality. So don't waste your fingerprints arguing about this kind of stuff. Just enjoy what you enjoy, and keep an open mind when someone has a different opinion.

true 720 will be awesome for a few years to come. There really are NO true 1080 signals out there yet, so most you'll see is 720 for a while. I have a 42" 720 screen as well in my living room (Samsung HLR4266W) which is perfect for the size of the room. What's interesting is the horizontal resolution doesn't come up at all in most of the stuff I have read. I don't know why. Even my wife can see the difference!

haha well its a story. family friend worked for microsoft until recently and they tried to pull some strings but by the time i asked for one it was too late. i had one on reserve at ebgames anyways but the core system. i stopped at target for what i thought was midnight madness and well i was much dissapointed there was none...but i camped out from midnight until 8 am. and they only had like 12 or 16, i dont remember, at the target i went to. they had i thinks 8 premiums and then 4 cores or a bit more cores. i am pretty sure its 12 though. well to say the least i now have an xbox360 premium package and am set forever!

The reason why i camped out was because at ebgames they automatically put me for the core system since i reserved it on the 9th of augest and didnt specify. so instead of getting giped on more money i decided to go to target and try to get my hands on a premium and i did! so now the near 100 i have down at ebgames shall be used on 4 games and another wireless controller. to bad the store does not open until 10 since its in a mall and thats when the mall opens. so all bets are off i got one! one of tweleve and i debated not going and trying to get one from costco for cheaper or seeing if my ebgames has one. let me tell you that i heard a gamestop call one of the guys in the line a week ago and tell him he wouldnt get his reserved 360 from augest as well until december if that. so i am content i have one! ill have a full review soon, unless the whole "ebay it and make a profit" does not kick in!

I have the WGA11B which was $70 a year ago. If you have a G network, get a G adapter, so it is full speed. That is on pricewatch for $70 cheapest, mostly $85. The 11B is now $40. The way it works is simply a wireless bridge. You plug a network cable from the xbox to the adapter, set it to internet mode, and zoila, you are online. It worked flawlessly. I couldn't get the original MS game adapter to work.

I got my 360 last saturday around 1030 am thru the every10minutes contest. I have been playing Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero pretty much when I have a spare hour or so which isnt very often but... there is really no way I would buy this console for anything above $300? I remember paying that much for the original Xbox the day it came out and I was so impressed. I have an HDTV and the graphics are nice but geez, $60 a game? Gamefly is gunna get allot more business from this console. I havent had any issues with it, Live updated with no problem and wireless connection was a breeze. Went out and bought a 2nd controller which was another hard pill to swallow.. freaking $50 for a controller, lucky for me I used my $35 Blockbuster Gift card I got from driving the Mazda5. So $18 for the controller was a little easier to deal with. It just seems with the Core system you would be abolutely screwed? Why even make such a device?! I played Call of Duty on it and was impressed. I really dont like games like that though so my opinion doesnt mean much. Also guys, not related to the crashing problems, keep in mind that all of the launch games are only using 1 core of the possible 3. And at most are only using 2 of 6 possible threads. WTF does this mean? It means they were under crazy preassure to release these games on time and could not learn how to tap into the power of the xbox in time for release. What you are seeing now is only a third of what it can do.

with every new console there is a learning curve for developers. Nothing new there and we all know games get better after the machine has been out for some time. What is new is that until now they only had to develop for 1 cpu. Now there's 3 and most people don't really know how to do it yet. This is going to be a much larger challenge to program for with next gen machines.

yeah the gameplay vs eye candy is a good point. One of which has been an issue for the true gamer for many years.

Releasing the 360 so fast might seem like a good idea up front to MS, but I'm not sure it will be in the long run. The one Advantage the xbox has over the ps2 is the better hardware, better graphics and so on due to the fact that they were last out of the gate the last time around.

With the PS3 having much more time to prepare, and actually get their own hands on the 360 beforehand, the PS3 has a much better chance to be the better hardware/gfx this time around. MAtter of fact if they are not, I will be very disappointment. They have an advantage now, they can take the 360 apart, examine it, and make sure their system is better. At least that is what I would do.

Of course rumor has it the 360 is upgradeable, has a PCI-E slot in it for future upgrades. Whether they do anything with that we'll see.

Got a 360 premium on launch day....reserved it a few months ago...It works flawlessly, looks gorgeous, and has a ton of great features. I have had almost every single console, have a good gaming PC, and this system does not fail to impress on any level. Every system at launch had had issues and glitches and bad batches...of course you will hear about EVERY SINGLE bad Xbox because they will run to forums to bitch. A few buddies of mine got them too and ours all work fine. PS3 is better? Well from a technical standpoint on paper, yes...but you most likely won't see it for another million years and who knows what developers and titles will come out for it...as that is really all that matters in the long run. All the next gen systems will look gorgeous as fuck and be powerful...it's just a matter of what games end up coming out, which is why I usually end up gettting all the major systems to play the various different console exclusives. So I am very happy with mine, it does in fact rule.

Right now I just have Perfect Dark, I didn't know enough about the launch titles to want to buy more yet, but with the lack of systems there are plenty of games around so I can take my time deciding. Perfect Dark is great, the online modes are cool as hell...and everything looks gorgeous and glossy as a mutha fucka! So far Need for Speed and PD have both blown me away graphically. It is a good game but it is just built around a geriatric game engine.

Count me in as a Pro-360.

I own a PS2, xBox and have had the 360 since the 19th... as for the 360, I have had zero issues; no overheating, no lockups, no red lights, no issues at all at this point. I even have my power supply tucked into the back corner of the hutch with really no air circulation to speak of and still have had no issies. Since having a part-time job at a major game retailer I can borrow games free of charge so we have played every game that was released as of last week.
I am not too keen on the new Dash layout but it is just a learning curve and is quickly overcome.

I am well aware of the problems. In all honesty it is usually the Sony or PC fans who belittle the Xbox owners. You can tell from most of the Xbox fans on here that they like all the systems and own just about all of them. However you get some hardcore Sony fans that make it their life goal to let everybody who owns a Xbox know how dumb they are for buying the console.

Not to start any flames again, but have there been any design changes with the PS3 since it was shown at E3? I remember thinking to myself that the design did not allow for much airflow at all. If they don't acknowledge this they may have similar overheating problems.

I actually like the design and I think it is too late to alter it but you are right there may be overheating problems with it as well. Maybe they can see what is happening with the 360 and change or touch up their design so they don't see the same happening to their machine. It will probably have glitches they all do. somethings you need to know about the 360

1. NONE of the new games at lauch are using more then one core. NONE.... you are hardly seeing what it's capable of yet.

2. You need hdtv to really see what it's able to do. Running it on some shitty 480i or 480p tv is pointless. Unless you have a good lcd, dlp or high end plasma, your tv ain't going to run it in true 720p hdtv. edtv is junk. The biggest thing about the ps3/360 is the hdtv side of things. Guess what? We all need new expensive tv's.
