This last weekend i did a clutch on my 94 LX. I installed the new clutch/flywheel/pressure plate/TO bearing/pilot bearing. I aligned the clutch with the provided alignment tool. During the install i also changed balljoints, tie rod ends, and 1 cv axle. I reinstalled the transmission then the problems started.. so here is whats happening.
In 1st gear there is a slight noise that sounds kind of like worn out brakes rubbing on rotors (on inside of car but almost nothing on outside of car). 2nd gear gets louder and sounds like driving down a gravel road (can begin to hear the sound on outside of car). 3rd gear is louder yet and starts to sound almost like a gear noise and then 4th is as far as i went because of the horrible sound. The sound starts to almost sound like gears either pressing to tightly together or with too much clearance, if you know what that sounds like. I should add that there isnt any noise in neutral that i can hear.
Heres what i have ruled out so far:
It isnt the axles.
Its not a wheel bearing.
Its probably not the clutch alignment, clutch works smoothly and has good holding power.
The trans still shifts fine between gears.
I think i either did something to the diff or the side bearings where the axles go in. Any input? I need to decide if i should take it somewhere to get fixed or get a salvaged one.
