Hello!
My first thing I did to my P5 and any of my other cars for that matter is always the wheels, after that it's on!

Well, since your in Canada you probably don't have to worry about painting the headlight housings. That was my first step...Cheap, but rewarding...Look on the How-to section and find all sorts of ways to kill some time before you do the big mods. My first real mod was the CAI....next springs and shocks.

First mod was my Tein S-Tech springs, then B&M shifter, then Injen CAI, and finally OBX header. Recently I did Kartboy Shifter Bushings and that seemed to help remove some sluggishness.
Oh yeah, welcome to the boards.

Welcome! Here is info I try to pass onto all the newbies who join up.
Right after I got my P5, I got the intake. You can get a short ram intake (SRI), which is what I have. Others have cold air intakes (CAI) They are about the same on ebay, but you may also opt for name brand. I have the ebay...
The next thing I did was get rid of those god forsaken Dunflop piece of shit stock tires. I hydroplaned within the first week or so I owned the P5. I ended up with the Yokohama AVS ES 100's. 205-50-16's on the stock rims. After 23000 miles, they were through, so I got aftermarket wheels, and Kumho Ecsta 711 205-40-17’s. There are a bazillion threads about tires. These I highly recommend for rainy climates. (Bottom line, get out of the stock tires before you have a problem!)
I just got (after 2.5 years of owning my car) a Racing Beat exhaust. I got an insanely good deal on it. It is on the higher end of the pricing range, but you can score one used at a good rate if you are on the forum within the .245 seconds someone posts it for sale used. They run in the high $400 range new. There is a Mazda Sport (Mazdaspeed) exhaust which is also popular, but people have complained of droning, or an annoying sound at freeway speeds. The Racing Beat does not do that. But there are a bazillion threads about the exhaust subject too, look them up.
Then there is the tinting of windows, a stereo, springs/shocks/body kit, carbon fiber everything, etc you will see around here for sale.
Short shifter is next on my list. Kartboy makes a great one, I have seen it in person. The shifter bushings are a must. Get them no matter what. Huge difference in shifting!
I found by moving to synthetic engine and transmission fluids, I get better mileage, and it shifts smoother too. So easy to do, it is worth it.
One more thing you should consider when you mod is a header. OBX and Ractive are the most common. I just installed the Ractive, and love the HP gains. Be sure to look up the Spark Plug non-fouler trick for the 2nd o2 sensor. It prevents the CEL from coming on.
Well, good luck, and check out the “for sale section”, and work with the Authorized Venders and sellers! Oh, search for threads about a question you might have. Most likely, it has been covered.<o =""></o>

My first mod was an exhaust, (HkS)
-TWM short shifter and kartboy bushings $120
-New tires (fuzion Zri's) paid too much
-Windows tinted 120 all windows and sunstrip
-New headunit, sub, speakers, amps for both
-DIY painted headlight housings, look in the how to, sweet 5 doller couple hour mod)
-DIY Fog mod, you can turn fogs on and off on their own, pretty cool no cost mod.
-Header, Good power gains. OBX header. 200 and some change.
-Cold air intake from X3racing on ebay with K&N filter from pepboys $40 for the CAI from ebay, &40 for the filter.
-Megan racing catback replaced the HKS, sounds fantastic, too loud for my tastes with the header. $300 bucks. If you choose this, just buy the exhaust from ____ (whoever is selling them on the forums) and have a muffler shop do the piping, my catback hits the bottom of my car, even after messing with it forever.

shortshifter! doIT! that was my first real "mod" and I justified it 'cause I'd punched the tops off of one toomany latte's/biggulps/slurpees.

I guess i need to punch the tops off more of my drinks before I get the SS. As of now, my only motivation to get the SS is so I don't feel like I'm rowing the gears of a Mack truck.
Oh boy, my next mod will be the OdysseyPC-680 battery, yay! Battery measures 3.11" wide x 7.27" long x 6.67" tall with the metal jacket and weighs 15.4 pounds. Best part is i'm getting for only 50 dolla, as opposed to well over $100, I think it was $145 new (boom07) .

it looks like that most of u hv an intake and exhaust in ur car....since i dunno anything much about car.....can anyone tell me the purpose of an intake and the difference between CAI and SRT.....which one is better?????
also.....i heard that racingbeat is a pretty good exhaust for p5.....wut does it sound like without any other mods(anyone has a soundclip)......r there any opinions [i know Magnaflow and Megen r popular for P5 too...but which one is the quietest(im sharing the car with my parents so i dun want a really really loud one...all i want is a slightly deeper sound)???]
also....does a HKS Hi Power Exhaust looks and sounds good on a P5....it doesn't seem many ppl hv that on their ride

welcome, i just got my P5 2 months ago and my first mod was a SRI. I also installed a new deck. I have an axle-back exhaust (ractive) which i got for dirt cheap which i'll install until i save up for something a little better. after winter i'll be lowering the car, and maybe some 17's or maybe just some 205's on the stock wheels, we'll see. oh i'm in vancouver as well.

The intake is for the engine to breathe better. I think SRI and CAI are the same since it doesn't really increase a lot of hp, may be 1-3hp??? But I wanna converse my CAI to SRI. Get the Magnaflow, I think it look good, and it's not that loud.

The HKS was much quieter than the Megan. The HKS got quiet after like 75-80mph. Many people dont have the HKS cuz its pricey and its just the axleback section. Its angled out of the back of the car, I liked how it looked alot. Its the same price as the Megan catback as well as many others. People who have the racing beat love it, it gets nothing but praise on here, ive never heard one.
lol as poseur said a short shifter will solve the de-capping of soda's, that got really annoying. I still hate our cupholders.
If you are looking for a deeper sound maybe just a header and intake with the stock exhaust? Anyone ever tried that before? The guy who had my car before me drilled 2, 3\16" holes right before the muffler itself that gave it a bit more sound than stock...
welcome to the boards. First mod was a injen cai. The list goes on and on. Use raiders advise from the earlier post. Research on exhausts, some are loud, pricy, some remove the 2nd cat. To save some money on a intake I would have prob just get one from ebay and used the money towards something else. Enjoy the car.
vicham! welcome to this board. :)
