i was wondering if i gutted my cat if i would gain anything/ lose anything?? and if it will throw a check engine light

When I removed the cats on my car I thought it would throw a cel within a few days or so, but to this day a few months later it still has not thrown a cel. I'm now about 6-7k miles into it and no cel, but maybe thats just my car. I wouldnt gut the cat have it replaced replace the mid pipe it's not that expensive and when you need it for a smog test it will still be fresh for testing. good luck
