You could always sell them to me for the price you are paying. :)

Put the RX-8 on yours, the RH's on Callie's and sell the black ones on craigslist...may break even/make money depending on how good of a deal you are getting.

She'll kill me if i pull her wheels. Her car is EXACTLY as she pictured what she wanted.

So, I just got the warning I better not touch her wheels.

Plus, i likes my RH's too much to go to rubberband tires and even more extreme 4x4 mode.

So, i am probably still gonna pick em up and try to make a teeny bit of money off of em.

Should have pics tonight of the knob.

But, they won't be "Proper" pics, since i don't own em. All I can do is forward an email if someone else wants to buy the knob. It's in Fort Lauderdale, so, good hour south of me. I COULD pick it up, but, it'll be cheaper to just have it mailed from him to who wants it

And as much as i want to help ya, i got dibs on those wheels. I am needing suspension something awful, so, i think i'm gonna throw em up on ebay and the FS section here.

Unless you got some suspension goodies to trade

No, DX/LX/ES Sedans, P5s and MSPs all have the same thread pitch and diameter. The MP3s have the different pitch (10x1.25 as opposed to 10x1.5 I believe). The issue with MSPs is that the knob is much "deeper" than the other model's knobs in that the threaded part is much further inside the knob. The stock shifter on the P5 has a metal piece that gets in the way and doesn't allow the knob to be threaded on. I believe most, if not all aftermarket shifters will allow the use of the MSP knobs.

Install couldn't be easier.

Plug bulb into ballast

plug ballast into stock wiring harness

put bulb in headlight

tuck ballast if you so choose

DONE

And, while some consider it MORE work to remove the bumper and headlights, i did, just so i knew the bulb was seated right and the fact I didn't get a hand cramp from trying to squeeze the HID bulb in without touching anything on the passenger side

Inspector came today, and, the car did just what it should. Knock'd its little head off, spit coolant out the tailpipe, and coolant temp spiked to the point the adjuster made him shut it down before it even reached temp.

So, tomorrow he starts the tear down process to see what he finds.

Good thing is the mechanic knows the adjuster, and they both agree i should get a whole new motor out of it. Without breaking it down, the adjuster said he's pretty sure i'll have a cracked head or something with as bad a knock as it's got now

So, I roll in the PT Looser for the rest of the week

I dunno, I had AWR endlinks and the Progress rear swaybar and I couldn't keep it quiet. I did everything you were supposed to: used ramps to lift the rear so the suspension was still compressed, adjusted the endlinks so the bar ends were as close to horizontal as possible, I made sure the endlinks didn't bind when I inserted the bolt and I tightened the hell out of them! They would be quiet for about a day or two and then would get noisy no matter how much torque I applied to the bolts/nuts.

I've heard good things about Toxis, combine those with some Eibachs and you got yourself a nice setup for around $450. Although combining different shocks w different springs will always give you a different ride (you like my analogy dont you Tylor?). MSP struts, since the spring perch height is different, will make the rear stand higher. That's why a P5 sags in the rear when you put MSP springs on any other strut. Plus I don't think the P5 rear end links will line up right with the MSP struts.

I think spring fit (wagon vs. sedan) is more important than strut fit.

I bit the bullet and went all the way to coilovers. I personally love them (even on the daily driver) but they're not for everyone. Though I have it set up relatively tame at the moment (you can still can see the top of the sidewall, and the ride isn't punching me in the kidneys), I love having the option to go totally agressive whenever I feel like it, and maybe some day I'll drop it another inch just for the kicks.

I've also been driving the P5 in several inches of snow... man is it fun as long as the idiots aren't in the way... some people really should just stay home in real weather... I'm cautious enough I'm never near their sliding insanity, but I could get everywhere a hell of a lot faster if they weren't driving at 5 miles an hour and somehow still locking up all four corners... welcome to the Pacific Northwest, I guess.

And I installed Dave B Rings tonight in 19 degree weather (okay, the ring install was done inside, but had to pull the guage cluster and reinstall when done in the cold)... no pics yet, but what can I say: they're Dave B Rings... we all know what they look like, and most of us love 'em. I'm certainly pleased as punch and pie...

My wife even likes them, which is good because I have another set under the tree for her LS...

MS6. It all depends on if the bank will give me a loan. If I get the loan, the MS6 is mine. If they don't, then I'm taking my bonus, fixing the rust, and living with it.

My reasoning is that I already have a project car, and it's much easier and cheaper to make it a competitive car for Auto-X. I want something I'm not going to feel the urge to mod all the time.

I'm no expert, but when talking about lowering and tire fit, offset of the rims is a very important factor. +45 offset will probably fit but +35 offset would probably need a test fit to be sure.

IIRC the stock 16's are +50 offset and I get 55 series rubber to fit awesomely during the winter, and I'm running +40 offset 17's with 40 series rubber during the short Alaskan Summer and it's tight, but no major rubbing (I think I rubbed a couple times on potholes(sad2)).

A spacer will lower your effective offset, making it +35, which will be even less suitable.

There is no easy way to increase offset without machining.

Well I do plan on getting 215/40R17 tires and the rims I'm getting are 17x5 with a +40 offset. I might have to get a 5mm wheel spacer since I will be lowering my car.

Actually if you changed every offset figure in this post to a "+" number, it would be correct! (headbang)

Um, yeah, I meant positive offset... I used negative offset in my Monte Carlo.(hi)

Good thing I don't claim that elusive "Expert" title. Fixed.

That would be sweet. White MS3? :)

Yeah I can understand that. Technically you have two project cars if you count the bimmer.

You're too ADD to fully be a ricer. You may have different parts on the car frequently, but you'd ask all of us to no end what we thought about them before you bought them. Hahahaha. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Yeah... except no. Stock is somewhere b/w 7000 and 7400 depending on the year. (my 92 is 7250). The tachs on the early cars are really slow (or fast I guess). It'll indicate some retarded RPM (near 8 grand) but it's not what it's doing. An accurate tach proves tihs.

Actually if you changed every offset figure in this post to a "+" number, it would be correct! (headbang)

A spacer will lower your effective offset, making it +35, which will be even less suitable.

There is no easy way to increase offset without machining.

IIRC the factory offset is +50, the lower the offset moves the wheel out toward the fender, this is loading up the bearings and can cause premature wear. Don't know about Mazda, but Subaru would not warranty wheel bearings that had failed because a lower offset rim was used on the car. Incidently I realise that most P5s are out of warranty by now but this would apply to newer cars like the M6 and M3.

Pat.

Everything you said is right. The only reason I said +35 is that he was looking a wheel with +40. A 5mm spacer would make it +35.

Yes, that it true about wheel bearings, but I honestly wouldn't sweat it. Subaru must be notorious for weak bearings?

Pretty much any mod you do puts more "stress" on one thing or another. That's what it's all about! :D And seriously, your bearing will probably outlast the car anyway, unless you have a Subaru.

Not sure about that. Bearings usually make a humming/gridning/thumping type of noise.

I just had recently my front bearings done (130K miles now) and my winter wheels are +40. I don't think it's really that bad.

Dead battery here I think. It was really cold those past days and I didn't start the car for I think 3 days because there was too much shoveling to do before reaching the street. Now it won't start and it clicks. Any tips about the battery? Would it be dead? What should I buy next if it is? I'm thinking about getting a block heater. Is it worth it? Asking for any help I can get!

Thx!

I don't doubt it's dead if it's dead cold where you live, especially if it sat for a couple days. My old battery would perform considerably worse if I didn't drive for a few days. But the cold just pwns it.

I recently got rid of my stock battery (yes, stock :P). "Upgraded" to a Diehard Gold (640 CCA). It does the job.

I agree it sounds like you've got a dead battery...
Recently went through the same thing with my stocker, though it never quite quit on me... was really close (cranking amps were down to like 200)...

I did some research, and chose an Optima red top myself...
And right after I installed it, the starter cranked like crazy in 19 degree farenheight weather... felt like I could have raced the car on the starter motor alone... 8-)
