I finally put the mazda 6 wiper on...
Man, what a difference.
Looks better, works better, I'm all grins.
And it rained today (shocker in Seattle) so I got to experience the full effect.
I really need to do this mod. What was the total cost?

I was lazy and bought the parts off someone on this forum returning their car to stock, so it cost me $30... if you're willing to do the legwork and look for a 6 wagon in a junkyard, you can do it for much less.
Beyond worth it, in my opinion.
Check out the how-to thread if you haven't already, lots of good information from people in there including where to buy the parts new online (can't remember how much that was, but I'm pretty sure it was still under $50).

Put stock leather shift knob back on, cleaned/recharged the k&n drop in air filter, royal purple oil change, and changed gear oil too.
Previously had Redline mt90 gear oil, just figured i'd give RP max gear oil a try.
Obtained mp3 pcm to install. :) Yanked out some trim and found a plate leading to where I think it goes...gotta check the online manual just in case.

that was a terrible idea. i def should have waited till it was hot out... or at least warmed them up more w/ my halogens. that glue is a bitch to take off.
sat there and scrubbed with goof off for a good 45 minutes. now its to dark to remove the rest of them. Ill finish it up tomorrow, and probably polish the lower door panels to remove and scratches i know i put on just now. =(

after two hours scrubbing away i got the adhesive off of the drivers side door. all thats left is the passenger side adhesive. which ill do tomorrow because my hands hurt.
Im definetely going to have to compound and polish the lower section of the door, and even might have to wetsand some areas because i scraped it pretty badly to with a chisel trying very carefully to remove the adhesive. Ill also have to touch up some of those ares to because i put 2 tiiiny nicks as well. oh well. Better put the hundreds and hundreds of detailing products to work.

i went to start it, and nothing happened.
Dead battery is teh FAIL
But, i did get the new brake rotors and pads on. Good lord am I glad i let them do it
3 of the 4 pins in the calipers were seized. The front driver's side caliper was seized to the point he couldn't turn the wheel by hand. And it's been that way for who knows how long, so, hopefully with the freed up wheel, gas mileage should increase too
Brakes are tighter and much quieter as well as smoother.
Oil change also brought some intresting things. With Total Oil, i was averaging about 100 psi on the oil pressure on cold startup and idle at 30 or so with cruising at 60-80 depending on speed
Now, with regular oil again, cold start pressure is 80-90 and warm idle is 20, with 60-70 being cruising pressure
Oil temps have also increased up to nearly 220 all the time
Any thoughts so far?
And, i didn't get the mount in as the mechanic just now finally finished the last engine replacment from the Tropical Storm Fay. He's had a solid line of new motors from people thinking they can drive through water.
So, i'll be leaving the car with him next week as well to put in the motor mount, or, i'll hold out until Dec/Jan when I have him pu tthe springs/struts on. I think I'll have ti in now, cause, the rear is totally shot.

It isn't broken or cracked but it is an issueCheck your coverage first. I have glass coverage but seems pretty f'in worthless. I fixed a couple & voila! Showed up as claims on my shit. Then the deductible for a whole unit when the cracks spread won't be worth even making another claim. So much for trying to keep their expenses down just to keep from replacing the whole damn thing. Gonna check out a repair kit so I can do my own. Gotta polka dotted 200k windshield in my krazy ass truck to practice on. From what i read everyone says 'aim them down', is there an actual adjustment screw on our headlights that allow for that, or are they physically aiming the HID bulb/thingy down in the housing? (My other cars had some device for aiming the headlights..havent noticed on my p5)

Highly recommend HID's. The adjustment screw is a little brass nut on the back of the headlight, its in between the high and low beams down towards the bottom. you can either use a 10mm ratchet or a philips head screw driver.

there are tons of people running turbos with out issues too...go with a MSP kit, keep it simple and you'll be fine...
you can't keep your car running, Krazie fox is going to pull his hair out, 808 is spewing oil everywhere, speedhornet can't get his car to run right, and i know of at least one other
Scary crap. And, there is an N/A route. just not as fast or easy, but sounds beastly!!

i know turbo is cheaper, and if I go MSP, i'd upgrade to hard pipes and BOV
wouldn't mess with FMIC or bigger turbo. MAYBE a different manifold, and, possibly intke mani from 505

I had the day off and took advantage of the 70+ degree weather to give her a wash/wax and detail. I also finally took off the burnt Rockblocker fog protection and applied the Expel kit.
OMG what a difference. They look so much better, fit better and were so much easier to apply.
I will post up some pics later.
Then I took her for a drive to the tire shop so I could get the tires dis-mounted from the Tribute wheels. Just awaiting the phone call to go pick them up.

Haha, I can't keep my car running because every week I install something new (that and shops suck and TurboXS also sucks). If it weren't for the shop not listening to me and the TurboXS BOV leaking my car would be running just fine right now. Actually, it is running and without a CEL - the idle is just a little rough. I don't know what's up with Krazie and 808 but speedhornet has installed something incorrectly or messed something up with his 626 IM install. I ran into none of the problems he has when I installed mine. You only start to run into problems when you start pushing it. For the first 6 months after I installed my turbo and nothing else the car ran great! However, now I have just about every mod you can without building the motor and I'm still relying on the stock computer...

The problem is the SMIC requires all sorts of other annoying things to work with the P5. MSP radiator, A/C condensor, etc. It's far easier, has less parts and is probably cheaper to just go with a FMIC. Just leave the lower grille in place if you're worried about being "found out".

i think w/ the corksport cams, an AFC, MP3 ecu, full ehxaust and intake i think 180wheel is a safe estimate for an NA setup...

Installed tribute wiper nozzles to change from the stream, to mist. Definite improvement in my opinion.
Also switched to an MP3 pcm chip. Probably just in my head, but it does indeed feel smoother and seems to have a bit more oomph.
Fyi, to anyone changing out the chip (this was my first time), the schematic in the manual fails to mention the 10mm bolt that actually threads into the pcm holding the pcm connector/pins to pcm. Its hidden in among all those wires. It basically makes sure that all the wires/pins are locked in place to the actual chip. Very sound idea given the importance of it not coming loose while driving.
So, you cant just pull on the wires to disconnect the pcm.

I dropped her off at the shop again. Getting another pipe made and getting a new BOV and flange welded on because the last one sucked and leaked. Anyway, hopefully by the end of this week everything will be done after about 3 weeks of waiting and headache. All for something I could have done myself if I only had a TIG welder. If all goes well this weekend will be the GTSpec rear cage install and some other fine tweaks plus some much needed detailing. Looks like I'll be just a day or two too late for the MOTM.

Yeah, I was curious about this as well. Fortunately GTSpec has like 10 pictures of the cage on their website so I just saved all those and will be using them to put it all together. It seems pretty straightforward. My only dilemma now is whether or not to try to keep some of the interior trim.

Yeah, someone else mentioned this as well so I'll have to see. I'll probably drive around without them for a while to get a feel for the new stiffness and if the noise is unbearable I'll start cutting them up to put back in.
LOL, the oil burning situation... Um, I'm almost certain now my turbo is gone - either that or my return line is so bad that it's blocking up the turbo but I really have no other choice as to how to route it. I get a lot of smoke when the boost really starts to build. I thought it was the valves for so long but when I removed the exhaust manifold everything looked fine. I also did a compression test not too long ago and all four cylinders were 195 psi or higher.

The rear one is the only one that is worth your time. To install the front bar you have to support/lift the engine and drop the subframe. If you want to stiffen up the front end, get a stiffer/solid strut tower bar.

??? My car handles better than ever with the Espelirs, maybe the P5 espelir springs suck.
Did you find out if you had that soundtrack at work?
I haven't eaten anything since last night. I'm starving, but my mouth hurts so much from the lack of wisdom teeth :(
I was referring to your Neo-Gens influenced boo boo.
Soundtrack has been lost due to the migration of my new machine. Sorry bud.
I went thru the wisdom teeth ordeal. Such a bitch dude.

yeah, from what I had been reading, Espilars' were the shizzle dizzle, now i find out they are sh!z and H&R's are the bomb diggidy
WTF mates?
They're progressive. Good for some things, not for others. Of course this is just the opinion of those of us cool enough to run linear springs. Hehehe.

I'm still thinking Progressive for DD. My car won't see the track. I've come to grips with that now

Neo Gen boo boo? I still don't know what you are talking about. Now, if you are referring to my corkscrew incident that was on the P5 wheels with Rob's old Toyo Proxies. I haven't had any problems with Neo Gens, they stick to the road much better.
Oh well, I guess I'll prolly end up buying it then. Thanks anyways.
Yeah, even though they did 3 today the lower left one is giving me all the grief.

Only the rear Espelirs are progressive. And I'm sure if people could find B-springs like you did more people would run them :p

Oooh, I thought the corkscrew was on the Neo Gens. I stand corrected.
Nah, the Espeliers look good...and enough people use them. I just don't like progressive springs...even if they are just the rear.

No problem. I felt the proxies were substandard to the Neo Gens as soon as I put them on, but they had so much tread when I did the 5 lug conversion that I kept using them.
If I autocrossed my car I wouldn't run Espelirs. But they are really good for a fun daily driver and the drop is perfect.

I would have taken you for a ride in exchange for jumping my car lmao. I was running off the altinator, I turned the blinker on and my RPM's dropped. The battery was totally shot! Ask Josh though, he ovbously rides in his car and I drove him around a lot in mine over the weekend. I think his is a lot stiffer than mine. The progressives "un-load" when your just driving around in a straight line and it makes for a softer ride. Oh, and my car is deff fun... Josh should have a video of me squeeling my tires sliding around a round about by my house. I wanna see that vid now that I remeber...

You're not allowed until you get out of 4x4 mode.
I only say this because you have an amazing platform. Black is great....and the factory 16" chromies are classic. A little work and few $s go a long way....trust me. I found a great deal (back in the day) on some Falken springs. For $150 and 4 fun hours I became addicted.

u should def. black out those headlights with a Satin or Gloss finish, and it'll look sexy, especially if u get bluebat's yellow fog overlays as well.

I'm probably one of the onlys that like the non-blacked out style. Here is a more recent.....with my custom grille. I like the original headlights.

I think the chrome ones look sweeter with the lights off, but the blacked out ones look sweet with HID's on. I guess you want what you can't have!

I posted similar on the how-to for the egr, but i wanted to get word out. I've had the p0401 egr cel on and off for the last month or so. Tried the clean but it didn't last. Got up the spine to go to the dealership(prepared to argue), told them after researching on the net that i thought the egr was still under warranty. With no hassle they said yes it is (2002 p5, til april 09 for my car) and that i also might be getting the misfire code, i didn't even prompt him on that. It went in at 9:30 this morning, got it back at 11:30, signed the invoice, with replacement of both the egr and gasket, and drove smoooothly back home. So, any 02 03 p5's, if you're not having this prob yet keep it in mind. There are some good dealerships/sevice managers.

hah, a great deal to you is still a large amount of cash for me. I'm currently working two jobs and streched out thin enough as is financially.and i live at home. trust me, i have plans for the P5, but actually paying the monthly payment on it is more important. As cool as it would be to have an MSP swapped p5 lowered on the wheels i want, in the end id still be even farther in debt and living at home. I crashed a motorcycle with no insurance, that was last year and I've hardly made a dent in the bill.

Hell, I don't remember......
But, initially Krayzie Fox had a deal with Chris to get the header. Chris never got around to shipping it, Krayzie went Boost so he told me to get with Chris to see if I could get it, I shot Chris a PM about it, he said Rob might want it but would let me know, then he put it up for sale and you jumped on it. It all kinda happened behind the scenes so technically, you stole it from me you bastard !! lol, j/k. No hard feelings man. I'll find one sooner or later.
