Decided to hook the subs back up in stereo rather than bridged due to bass was getting a bit overbearing. Washed, waxed and steam cleaned the interior today while I playing with it... now sitting comfortably in the garage...
What sub/amp combo are you running...

Nevermind I got the tire situation figured out. I'm going with a 185/70 tire. Good thing I picked up 14's cause the winter tires are only gonna be 51 a pop. $240 shipped to my door. So basically I got a full winter wheel setup for about $300 with the installation. whoot.

LOL, I've determined I won't be driving my car up here during winter. It kind of sucks because my truck isn't really a reliable winter vehicle either but then again it's more than 5 inches off the ground. I just remember when I first came to OH to look for apartments it was during that weekend of the "storm of the century". There was like 12 inches of snow on the ground before we even arrived. Hell, we were in my g/f's stock Protege LX and that was plowing snow!

lmao yea I've heard nothing but amazing things about steelies and winter tires and people are saying it's the difference between night and day. I just bought new rims so I was looking for a way to get winter wheels and I got the chance and jumped on it. 300 bucks is a great investment in something like this IMO

Because bulbs other than oem have burnt overlays might be why.

Sounds a lot like my setup. I bought some used (one season) Blizzaks for $100, 4 steelies for $100 and $70 for m&b. I also wanted to go with a 14" 'cause tires wont break the bank.
Here is what 185/70's will look like on the car.

So the plan is to get Yokohama s.drives in a 205/50
but they come in a 225/50 as well. i was thinking id try to fit a wider tire on my wheels instead of the 205s im running now. my wheels are 7.5 wide so i should have no fitting issues? performance wise, what effect will the wider tire have on my car?

Wheels 16x7? You could always go with 215/45R16 if you want a little wider. It's not a common tire size but I do believe they make the RT615s in that size. It's a more performance-oriented tire though.

Oil return line is all that's left and it's a little tricky. I also have to redo my gauge mounting because before the wires were too tight and the gauges were't getting power. Everything else is done. Just have to finish those two things and the prime the fuel and oil system to make sure there aren't any major leaks. Then it's time to turn her over...

a 215/45 vs. a 205/50 will have nearly the same measured sidewall height.

No pictures but the P5 is running again! Idle seems smoother if not a little lean at times (~15.5:1 occasionally) but it likes to stay around 15:1 for the most part. So far no serious leaks. Everything seems okay for now but I've only put about 20 miles on her since everything was put back together. I only really got on it once and there was a decent amount of smoke behind me - I couldn't tell if it was black, blue or white but it looked lighter. I'm almost certain now the turbo is going. The new gauges are nice - my old oil pressure gauge was definitely reading low as my new AEM says I'm usually around 20 psi at idle. Oil temps get hot! After just about 10 minutes of spirited driving the oil temps were upwards of 220 degrees! I also can't detect any fuel leaks of gasoline smells in the engine bay so perhaps all that liquid teflon paid off. As for the fun stuff, the new exhaust manifold looks nice, LOL. I can't really tell if there was a HP gain or not but spool time is rediculous! So much so that I spiked to about 12 psi before it settled around 10. I've gotta watch that in the future. I guess the whole 3 week venture was a success even if the car still burns oil but that's something I can't really fix right now. Hopefully I won't be throwing anymore lean codes either but I may just end up having to ignore those. Hopefully tomorrow I can get some pics of the engine bay, the new gauge setup and the fogs (which I haven't had a chance to test yet).

Don't worry about the lean, it is prob just coming on because the evap. The lean code always throws for me when another code come up.
But the evap is either a loose gas tank or a loose vacuum line or it just came off. I would check the gas cap then check all of the vacuum lines in the engine to see if any or loose or came off.

Check for any exhaust leaks before the primary O2 sensor (ie header/head connection) and check for any vacuum leaks after the MAF. The causes for this CEL are limitless ranging for bad sparkplugs to a dirty MAF too dirty injectors to a vacuum leak. I'm actually waiting for mine to come back on here shortly.

its the part that goes underneath the crankshaft and it supplies the oil to the crank pretty much, they sell it on PG, the reason u need it is because the stock protege crank girdles dont have the hole for where the stock oil drain hooks up
i see in the pic that u have the coolant lines, the gold metal tubes, but i cant really tell if u have the oil lines, jut go with a braided steel oil drain, u can use the stock oil feed but i think its rubber or silicone and braided would be the better way to go

It appears as if one of the studs has completely sheared off. Kind of sucks as it was only installed for 2 days! He uses jaxwax products. They're based right here by our airport so it's easy for him to get the stuff too. I checked the detail over and the paint looks about 7 and a half million times better. He didn't do like a three step process or anything since the paint wasn't that bad. He just used a cleaner polish/wax to remove the shit that was on top. Well everything is removed again :( At least I'm getting good at the disassembly process. Now I just have to find some new studs. Does anyone know where I could find some adaptor studs? 09-02-2008, 10:23 PM
You wouldn't believe it - three of the four studs holding the turbo to the exhaust manifold were sheared right off! The forth one sheared off when I was removing the only remaining nut. I'm not sure if I just over-torqued them or if they just weren't cut out for the heat/stress of that location. The reassembly process shouldn't be that bad. The biggest problem is going to be finding four new studs and bolts that aren't going to break and installing them without over-torquing them. Even after all that I now run the risk of having another exhaust leak that I didn't have last time. I really don't want to buy new gaskets after the old ones have only been on there for three days. Another good note was that I was able to remove all the broken studs so no drilling required! The really bad news is that I won't be able to really work on the car until next weekend because my fiance is visiting this weekend. I really wanted to impress her with the work I've done (LOL, yeah, right) but now it doesn't look like that is going to happen.

Screw that....Why dont we make it something that will work....What if you had four more of th ARP studs./..And we tapped those holes on the Mani to be 8mm.....Would that work?
That would be ideal as those things are indestructible (hell, even I could only manage to strip the allen key but that's nothing). I really don't want to risk drilling out the manifold because then I run the risk of getting too large a stud to fit through the turbo. I actually just had an epiphany - why not just use a regular SAE stud? I mean, since I have to get new nuts as well and I know this thread size will fit through the turbo, why not just stick with a SAE stud and just get matching nuts? Sure it'll be kind of annoying having to use an SAE wrench but it should save me some headaches. Now I just have to find some high-quality SAE threaded studs.
My new goal is to have the car up and running before late Friday night. Might be possible.

That Mohican thing Perro del Sol posted? If so, that's next weekend so I should theoretically be able to go. Cleveland is just a hell of a distance away. That's the reason I didn't make it to Satimko's party-thing (that and I didn't finish the car until 3 PM).

Washed and waxed.
Tried out my new bottle of Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss
excellent product. Its perfect for super dirty grimey cars, and can also strip off old wax for giving a fresh surface for the wax to be applied too.
Its cost effective. At 7$ for 16oz, and using it at 1/2oz per 2 gallons, its much cheaper to use than my higher end more expensive washes. If you use 2oz per 2 gallons, you can easily clean a unwashed super grimey surface.
Today i used 1oz per 2 gallons, cuz i didnt need to use 2oz, as the current coat of wax on my car was on its last week. The 1oz was strong enough to cut through the 10 days worth of grime, as well as strip off what protection was left on the surface. Which was evident when i rinsed the car off. The water didnt sheet off as fast, and there wasnt much surface beading. (what beading and sheeting there was, was due to the car has been clayed in the recent months, and the panels are still relatively smooth.
The wax used was Pinnacle Signature SeriesII

No understeer issues and the install did suck (6.5 hours), but the biggest issue is the wheel hop. Even with playing with shock settings, I can't get it to put power down like it ought to. Until it comes out, my car has been re-christened to Thumpy.

Hah, I figured that they still had some tread left, and I am way too cheap to buy tires before I have to. I also have snow tires for the winter, so that saved a lot of wear on the dunlops, and so the crappy snow and ice performance of the dunlops wasn't much of an issue. I also don't drive all that much, and most of the time I am pretty gentle on the car.

Picked up the Cobra radar/laser detector today. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot it started going off. 1,2,3 beep beep beep. I'm like damn already? Sure enough, about 5-10 seconds later a cop passes by me going the opposite way. I also passed a cop clocking people but he was facing the same way I was so he was clocking the other way completely parallel to me. As soon as I passed him and the radar gun was pointed at the back of my car, the cobra went off. So far, so good and I have to say that the thing works great. Drove it for the first time after a week in the Mustang. The P5 feels like a toy by comparison. The short shifter feels tiny, and the clutch feels like the pedals on a video game! It's so soft and engages so close to the floor that I had to ask my wife if it felt normal to her, 'cause to me, it felt like the slave cylinder was leaking.
One could also read this as "damn, that Mustang has a heavy-ass clutch." It's certainly how I felt about the car for the first few days that I drove it!

i just have a small little plate, that came with my momo sub box, and i drilled 2 holes for the plate to stick to the box, and then 2 holes into the metal in the trunk. On the right side of the trunk there should be metal, and like this softer material that is drill-able.

i just have a small little plate, that came with my momo sub box, and i drilled 2 holes for the plate to stick to the box, and then 2 holes into the metal in the trunk. On the right side of the trunk there should be metal, and like this softer material that is drill-able.
heres a picture of that spot, it'll clarify what im saying.
gotcha thanks.. might have to try this soon.. i just dont like drilling in things leaves holes...

want to know how to keep your sub woofer box from moving without drilling etc?
Go to Target and buy a pack of the Velco squares (or strips) Then staple or use tack nails and put several of the "hook" velco pieces lining the edges of the box and that it. The actually work well at sticking to the carpet of the hatch mat (or trunk mat in sedans) I've used this in the P5 and the MSP and since doing it the box hasnt moved....

BTW, since getting everything together late thursday night the car has so far survived about 250 miles and everything still looks good. I check everything under the hood just about every time I start her up now.

sounds better then drilling.. what are hook velcro pieces. and velcro will really hold a 50 pound box with big G's in the turns?

LOL I have a feeling that if you've got a 50 lb sub box in the trunk, you're probably not going to be pulling 'big Gs' in the turns.
Just sayin...

Even my huge 50lb+ box I had before got thrown around a lot and I hated it, it just wasn't wide enough to stay in place. I fixed that though, and did some weight redux at the same time! :)

only reason I'm leaning away from aftermarket is because the stock on is simple plug and play. I know very little about the electrical part of cars. Is it pretty easy to install an aftermarket unit? If so, what's the best I can get for about $100?
