I've been lucky so far, been able to avoid everything except a huge chunk of a truck tire that shredded. Luckily that was flat, but it made a funny sound. I check underneath and no damage though.

I want JDM tails.

I don't want the MSP lip. I like my fogs.

I just spent the last 8 hours succesfully changing out ONE strut in the rear. Now it's three HP's and one stock. Long story short, dremmel wasn't gonna work, had to go to mazda to buy new endlinks, had to go to Lowe's to buy reciprocating saw metal blade, put everything back together just to find out I FORGOT TO PUT ON THE FUCKING BUMPSTOP, take it apart again, place bumpstop, put it back together, cleanup.

Sure won't. Saturday morning goes on the last strut along with the new MX-6 rear strut. Then I just have to find time to replace the front motor mount. I say I have to find time since I will have to cut the bolt off since it's seemingly fucking welded on there. No amount of PB blaster was able to free it and I ended up stripping the crap out of the nut. Anyway, I got a brand new nut and bolt from mazda and the awr will be going on as soon as the other strut's done and I have time. Now after that, I only have to order my seats and I'm done. Wow, I never thought I would be done with all this stuff.

but ended up gettin new endlinks cause it all stripped and the stud was spinnin too

heh, I've been there... though 8 hours for 1 is a bit much. I've never had problems w/ a good cutting wheel on the dremmel though. Sure it takes a couple minutes but I got the thing for free. I'm not gonna buy a sawzall just for this lol. So far I think I've had to cut 10 endlinks with it on other peoples' cars, none on mine. PB blaster ftw :D. I've done 1 car I had to cut all 4, then 2 cars where I cut 3 LOL

With 3 of us who had half a clue of what we were doing, we actually put new springs on the P5 a few weeks ago. From pulling it into the garage to pulling it out (like the good catholic boy that I am) of the garage was almost exactly 1 hour. It was awesome LOL

fishdonotbounce
07-18-2008, 12:30 PM
Yea the only problem was that I didn't have a good cutting wheel and that's why I had so many problems. The 8 hours takes into account me having to go to the stealership to buy new endlinks since they were the only ones who had them, having to take the strut back off just to put the damn bumpstop on, and a bunch of other random shit. I should be able to do the other side in about an hour or so now that I know what to do (crosses fingers). I actually cut the bracket that holds the endlinks to the strut lol cause I couldnt fit the saw under the car to get a straight shot at the bolt. Oh and my uncle helped me a lot cause he's cool like that... and cause it was his garage lol.

EDIT: oh and this is the first strut I've actually changed out myself.

I actually cut the bracket that holds the endlinks to the strut lol cause I couldnt fit the saw under the car to get a straight shot at the bolt.

Here's what I found is the easiest way to do it, w/ a dremmel, causing the least amount of damage:

1: With the strut still attached to the chassis @ the top, cut the endlink in the middle somewhere
2: Remove the strut, put it on a work bench somewhere if you can.
3. Cut straight down the middle of the stud, basically cutting the nut in half.
4. Once you've got most of the way down, so you don't start cutting into the bracket, stop and basically use the flange of the nut as a guide to cut the top of the nut off horizontally

By the time you've done that, the rest of the nut should come off pretty easily (IE: you can thread it off by hand), and the last time I did it, I got maybe a nick or 2 on the endlink tab. Sure, it takes a little time, but I'm not risking the structural integrity of an endlink tab on someone else's car, much less mine.

fishdonotbounce
07-18-2008, 12:43 PM
Thanks man but those struts are actually going to get junked so I'm just gonna cut straight thru those mofos. lol. If I were keeping the stock struts and selling them (if they were still good) I would definitely do that.

Ordered new OEM rear endlinks. I can't keep the AWRs quiet with the Progress rear bar. I'm also thinking about picking up a used MSP rear swaybar and trying that out with the AWRs endlinks - at least the MSP bar can be made so it is parallel with the ground. Now whether the angle reduction counters the loss of swaybar diameter is a different story. I'm not really sure which is more important; location relative to the ground or overall diameter and stiffness.

Both. I mean, a stiffer bar will compensate for some pre-load, but why can't you get the progress bar level?

The control arms are in the way. The Progress bar is the exact same shape as the stock bar just a lot thicker whereas the MSP bar has shorter "ends" so the endlinks are shorter that would allow the bar to be parallel to the ground. I have the AWRs adjusted so the bar is as level as it can be without the endlinks hitting the control arms (about a 1-2 mm gap). Basically with the stock/Progress bars the endlinks are above/behind the control arms whereas with the MSP bar they are in in front

Oh, so, passengerside just presses in and the bolt is on driver's side?

I'm a total newb to motor mounts. Front was nothing

the pass side presses in and they have zip ties u use with them to keep them in place
the drivers side uses a bolt, and its a PITA to get it in right
the pass side just requires alot of stretching, not really hard at all

make sure u support the engine on that side, because if u dont, putting the mount back in/taking it out will be nearly impossible

Well....Another Day in the books.

Spent Pretty much all Day stripping the car down for paint next weekend(hopefully).

I had to get all the Misc. junk off like the handles, all removable trim, mirrors ,tails, etc.

Also Got the rear bumper ready to remove....Started prepping the hood and the major dings on the drivers side.

Pulled Nearly the entire interior just go get the God forsaken Headliner out to get at the roof rack.

That thing is off and in the trash...Thank god.

Pulled all door panels and a few other things as well.

I need to fit the New front bumper and Grill today and THen work on prepping them...then it will be time to find any and all little imperfections and fix those before sanding it down, spot priming and blocking it out.

Gonna be a busy week for sure.

Wow....Your filling in the Drip rail Channel?

Tell me your not just mudding it up.

TDoing thisis risky because of the roof flex...there really is only one way to do this right...and thats by welding in a filler strip to bridge the gap and body working it from there very thin.

I hope this is the route you are going or yu will be greatly disappointed.

Dude..What are you talking about...But yes...I actually am going to re-do it to a black material while its out.

The headliner was removed to remove the Original Roof rack which bolts through the roof inside the car..It has to come down to remove the roof rack to install the smoothe rain channels.
To get the headliner out..you have to remove all of the panels you see out on the ground..Its a lot of work.

Ans you remove as much as possibble when painting a car for a better looking ,more OEM appearing job.

federal tires suck ass
i have them and they are the worst tires ive had

they (wheelsnext) gave me a 205/40 for a 7.5 inch wheel so it supposed to stretch a little
but it doesnt, it just makes the center of the tire bow in and causes m steering to go crazy on uneven roads

Basically I'm going to be overhauling my entire oil feed/return system with new lines and fittings, new oil pan, new oil gauges and so far I've got pretty much everything except the pan (working things out with AWR). Took about 2 hours to make using a sheet of carbon fiber (1/8" thickness). General measurements were 7.5" x 4 3/4". Make sure you have a couple of good hacksaw blades, carbon fiber chewed them up quickly. Once I had the fit right I used wet sandpaper to take off any sharp edges, worked great.

Although not visible when I was finished with the install, I used the pocket from the old Metra kit to hold the radio up (see pic). I then super glued the pocket to the back of the carbon plate just below the radio cage (see pic). I had to pull the front part of the dash off since the carbon fiber plate was a tight fit, but it's much sturdier than the Metra stock kit. While I had the front dash cluster removed, I fixed a/c "flicker" since my a/c was shutting off in position 2 and 3.

Last week I replaced the front and rear speakers with Pioneer TS-A6872R (6x8) and TS-A1672R (6.5"). They went in very easily with very little customizing. I had to cut the rain guards a little on the rears but other than that, it was very simple. Let me know what you think of the install.

I'm not all that worried about how it looks, although, if I had a choice, it would be roof racks. But, I can't park in the garage with the bikes on the roof, and the fact I don't have a roof rack on mine.

I got the bike and rack for $250 so I really can't complain

Ok I just spent 3 hours claybaring and only got about half the hood done. I'm throwing a big fucking hissy fit right now because it looks like shit and I don't know what I did wrong.

I made sure to lubricate the surface with the quick detailer like the instructions said, then I claybared and put some muscle into it to see the gunk come up. The problem was that it took forever to do and it's not even at all.

your supposed to do a small area at a time. and you dont have to put alot of force into just a lil. You know your done with that spot once its smooth. Once that SMALL area is smooth wipe it off with a cloth towel or something right after.

Now I know you can't use stock endlinks with the MSP bar but I currently have the Progress bar back there with AWR endlinks (LOUD!) and I'm going to do a little preference testing. Sh!t, there are some incredible photos of P5s in this forum. I have a 2002 P5 w/80,200 miles on it...all stock. However, some of the photos I have seen piqued my interest and I already found myself looking at rims online today. The trouble for me is that I have zero idea what anyone is talking about when words like Camber Kit, short intake, etc. Essentially, I'm car-talk-retarded. I just learned today that Flowmaster mufflers make a car sound deeper and louder. Yeah, I'm that in the dark with car mods. Understandably so though...I have little interest in doctoring my car up except for maybe tinting the windows. On another note, I did pick my car up from the shop yesterday; changed the timing belts, tensioner, pulleys, water pump and flushed the radiator...all for $550.00. So silent I can't even tell it is on. Love it.

To be honest, I was perusing some website online. At this point, there wasn't any certain brand, size or style I was after. I really like the idea of white wheels on my red P5 but feel it would look a *little* silly having flashy wheels on my all stock car. Of all the threads I have come across thus far, the most beneficial post to me dealt with "A/C only works in position 1 & 4." Yup, mine too. Fortunately, I ended up buying an extended warranty on my car that covers everything except routine maintenance. I spoke to them earlier and found out they would cover the A/C Control unit I need to replace. Also found the local shop that will accept the extended warranty...as I have read, I should stay away from Mazda dealerships.

Sh!t did my alignment yesterday at sears and all was well until i pulled out of my drive way this morning. Freakin camber bolt on the front driver side tire slipped and now im running atleast a -2.9 camber. Imma go back tomorrow and complain to them even though they said there's no warrenty cuz my car has modified suspension but still this shouldn't have happened. The camber is so off you can literally see the tire leaning inwards towards the fender... Also going to complain to them why my steering wheel isn't straight... sure the car drives straight and doesn't pull in either direction but the steering wheel is like 10deg to the left.

Can't wait for tomorrow to go back to sears and get this sh!t fixed.

More like $170 now....I got one two years ago during a special for $130. Just be sure to fight them if one tire is out of spec. Last October I didn't when the PS rear toe was out. Well this spring I found that that tire was wearing uneven on the inside, so I have been shopping for tires.

I was going to get some General Exclaim UHP's but 'settled' for something else. lol Pics to come after I get back from vacation in two weeks! :D

Well I came home today to about 4 different packages sitting at my front door! Too bad I had some serious work to do before I could dig in... Well I just recently opened everything and here it is - and it's not even all I ordered! I'm all excited so I have to run through everything I have planned in the near future!

What you're looking at: used RacingBeat rear swaybar, Turbolife FMIC kit, AN Wrench kit (I'm going to do this right, dammit!), 3 ft 10 AN line, 3 ft 4 AN line, two 45 deg 10 hose ends, straight 4 AN hose end, sandwich plate, 1/8 NPT to 4 AN adaptor, SS 1/8 NPT tee, brass 1/8 NPT male to 1/8 BSPT female adaptor, brass 1/8 BSPT male to 1/8 NPT male adaptor and a bunch of SS 1/8 NPT plugs.

Not pictured: Brand new stock P5 rear endlinks, MAM exhaust manifold, Perrin Fuel Rail, Walboro 255 lb Fuel Pump, WRX 440 cc injectors (probably going to sell - need some 565s)

What I'm still missing (not delivered): 10 AN turbo drain fitting and gasket, 4 AN turbo inlet fitting with restrictor, 90 deg 4 AN hose end, AEM Oil Temperature Gauge, AEM Oil Pressure Gauge.

What I've yet to order: AWR Oil Pan with 10 AN return fitting, AEM/Injen MSP intake, BOV (haven't decided what type yet).

What I'm waiting for: 505Zoom intake manifold

sorry to hear about that...warranty or not, they should still fix it...sounds like they forgot to tighten something.

I'm having similar problems. Raised up the front to make the car even with the rear. Now my steering wheel is the same as yours...at about 11' o'clock to the left. Car drives nice and straight though. I too have a TON of negative camber and some toe in. I'm going in the morning to get it all straight.
When you go, get a print out. Ask them for zero toe front and rear.

I still need to run compression and leakdown tests before I commit to something that big. If those tests show anything wrong (valve seal, piston ring, etc.) then yeah a motor build will probably in the works. I mean, it will be no matter what but if my oil consumption is the result of a bad turbo I think I'm going to hold out with this engine a little longer.

Of all that stuff pictured, the only parts that will be going in anytime soon are the rear swaybar and the oil system components and even then I can't install the return line until I get the AWR pan. I really can't wait until my new oil pressure gauge comes in so I can install that to verify if my oil pressure is as bad as it seems. As for the FMIC, well, that's going to have some serious work going into it: I need to cut it for MAF relocation, remove the BPV nipple and weld a BOV flange in its place and of course for all this to happen it needs to have the powdercoating stripped. Depending on when 505Zoom finishes his intake manifold I also need to have the TB bend on the coldpipe cut off as well. I want to do all this right so I'm going to have a shop do all the cutting and welding and I'm also going to have them re-bead all the pipe ends.

As for the other parts, that depends on the engine. If the engine is FUBAR'd then I won't be installing the manifold, fuel rail, etc. So yeah, of all those parts next to nothing is going in for a while unfortunateky but hey, this way I get to make a huge build thread when everything's ready :)

Alright, i've got a few questions.

First off, my car is starting to shake. When I'm stopped and rev and release the clutch, the whole car starts bucking and I have to let off and rev higher for it to stop.

What is that?

Next, is when I'm at a light and I lightly rev, i hear rushing fluids and then I dont'. As I press teh gas, i hear fluids running like crazy and then i don't hear em anymore.

And every so often, my A/C stinks like stale air.

Anybody got answers to any of those??

The A/c thing makes sense that the drain that drains the water out from your evaporator is clogged. This happens pretty easily when pieces of leaf get in there. You get water built up in there and it sloshes around possibly even hitting the vent fan. Others may know an easier way to unclog it besides getting in there and doing it?

mx-p5
07-25-2008, 03:00 PM
So, to fix the stale air, is it getting under the car and hitting it with a blast of air in the a/c vent?

And that should also fix the sloshing/rushing water sound?

ZZZOOM!
07-25-2008, 03:30 PM
The stale air is from the stagnat water in your evaporator housing that shouldnt be there. Fix the drain issue and the stagnat air will go away as well. This housing is behind your glove box. You may even be able to see where the exit drain comes out of the firewall and maybe it can be cleared by putting something up it? Nothing that would cause damage to the evaporator core. Correct me if I am way off on this guys!

I've cleared drain lines on the jeep and a cavalier by hitting it with a little high pressure air. CLears clogs no problem. I havn't noticed if it's not draining when the A/C is on. I'll look into that today

If all goes well I'd also like to do a compression test and I think I need to re-arrange my injectors (did you know there was a proper order?!). Assuming all goes well with the compression test I might go ahead and install the Perrin fuel rail as well seeing as half the steps needed would already be accomplished.

Last week I bought a non-running P5. Rod through the block @ 77K miles.

Picked up the car today with a new used motor with a bit under 50K miles.

http://mn-hsta.org/Original 77K Motor.jpg
Dropped the broken motor at the salvage yard to get my core deposit back.

Hmmm, needs sway bar bushings. Pulled the extraneous wiring from the previous owner's stereo installation out. Pulled the rear door panels. Love the wires wrapped around the cone wires in the rear door speakers to extend back to the rear hatch area. Hmmm, there is low gauge power lead off the battery live and laying in the hatch area. Glad it hasn't touched the ground wire which is also laying back there. Stock speakers. Gonna have to go.

Hmmm the spare tire well is damp, as well as the jack storage area. I wonder if there is a leak? Space saver spare is showing cord....

The power mirrors won't tilt down or in. Pull the drivers door panel and the mirror switch. Pull the switch apart and clean it. Doesn't look too bad. Bend the contacts a bit, to ensure that they're making good contact, put a dab of dielectric grease and reassemble the switch and test it, Mirrors still won't tilt down or in?!?! Oh well, stock speakers in the front doors, so the door is going to have to come apart again anyway.

Program the stereo. Ahh, there is a CD in it. Popular teen music. Matches the Eminem CD I got out of the glove compartment.

That's it for today.

Did a compression test, installed Perrin fuel rail and fixed my rear swaybar.

Compression test numbers (each cylinder tested twice):
1: 205 psi, 203 psi
2: 195 psi, 201 psi
3: 205 psi, 205 psi
4: 210 psi, 210 psi

The pressures seem a little high to me considering the FSM says it should be around 170 psi, bad piston rings?

And oh yeah, apparently the P5 didn't take kindly to all the work because she decided to smack me with the rear swaybar and send me to the emergency room (5 stitches and a tetanus shot total).

Yep, yep and yep! I had actually been driving around most of the morning but I took the P5 around the block just to make sure it was up to temperature. As per the FSM, pulled the fuel relay, opened the gas cap, started the car and ran it until it died, cranked it a few extra times for good measure, pulled the plugs and then tested each cylinder twice in a row (crank each cylinder about 5 times with the throttle fully depressed). This is the second time a compression test has yielded ~200 psi across all four. Time to do a leakdown next, just need to source a tester and an air tank.

a leakdown test should only confirm that you do NOT have a problem in the engine. Getting 200 PSI across the board is a great result. It's possible you've got one of those mythical factory freak motors. I'd start looking elsewhere (read: turbo).

Generally, you run a compression test, find 1 cyinlinder really low, then a leakdown test tells you where the problem is (rings, intake / exhaust valves, etc). I'd say the numbers for the engine look great.

magnumP5

I'd start looking elsewhere (read: turbo).
You know, everyone keeps telling me this, and I'm sure it makes sense to them but it just doesn't to me given when and how it smokes. I don't get smoke (well not blue smoke) at WOT or at anytime in boost that I can see. However, and even though it hasn't smoked in a while, before it would smoke a little when getting back on throttle. Not flooring it back on, but say, slowing down from 70 mph to 60 mph and then lightly getting back on the pedal to maintain that speed. It's there that it used to smoke. Even got some puffs at startup a few times but lately it hasn't done anything. I believe it's a result of the warmer temperatures (80+ everyday) so I'm certain I'll see more smoke later this year.

Can a compression test result indicate bad valves/seals?

aMaff
07-26-2008, 11:21 PM
Can a compression test result indicate bad valves/seals?
It will indicate anything that a leakdown test will, it just won't specify where the problem lies. If you're losing compression because a valve's not sealing properly, then yes. A bad valve oil seal that won't manifest itself with the valve closed? Hell, not even a leakdown test will show that.

magnumP5
07-26-2008, 11:41 PM
Hmm, I don't know what to say though. I have no oil in my IC pipes, my spark plugs all still look fine but the oil has to be coming from somewhere. The catch can isn't fully at all so it's not blowby or the PCV malfunctioning (still rattles, and I have a heavier duty check valve in front of it). I guess the turbo could be blowing oil out the exhaust housing although I haven't really heard of that happening. As for the leakdown test, last year when similar problems manifested (and just as mysteriously disappeared for 5 months) I was repeated told by someone (I think we all remember Nick from MPi) that I really should be having a leakdown test done.

Today it was on to more of the same as Friday. Going through and figuring out and addressing the niggling things that the DPO left.

Hmmm A/C doesn't work?!?! Fuse in the inside box is good, fuse under the hood is MISSING!. Put a fuse in, and voila A/C again.

The previous owner had installed a head unit, but didn't install the 3.5mm remote jack auxiliary hook up. Left it and the removal tools in the glove compartment though, so this is next. Put the tools in and hey, WTF. The unit is just slid into the mount kit and can be pulled out by hand! Pull the unit out, and pull the mount kit out, as I want the mount kit in with the pocket above the unit, instead of below. While I have everything apart, the cigarette lighter socket isn't working, so I check this out. No voltage on the leads to the socket, probably another bad fuse. Figure out where the aux hook up plugs in and where I want to mount the plug. Clean the area up, mount the plug and thread the wire to the back of the unit. Figure out a way to mount the head unit in the mount kit, plug everything back in and put the mount kit back in.

Open the interior fuse box and pull one of the "other" fuses. It's blown. Replace it and the lighter socket works.

Go to the back of the car. There's been a bit of rattling/jingling coming from back there over bumps. Pull the jack out to see if it could somehow be part of the problem. It's wet!

http://mn-hsta.org//Original Jack.jpg
So rusted even after I hit it with a torch and pipe wrench, I can't get it to budge. Add this to the salvage yard list.

Dry up the jack well, do some research on the forum. Pull the spare tire, wet here too, and pull the rear tray so I can get into the well on the driver's side. Wet here too. Dry everything out, remove the tailights to seal the mount holes. Both tailights are installed with two nuts, as opposed to the three that they should have. A little silicone an extra nut for each tailight and hopefully there will be no more water in the trunk.

Notice the remnants of a sticker on the outside of one of the back windows. Razor blade scraping and it is gone.

Tomorrow it goes up on a rack and gets its sway bar bushings taken care of and I figure out what is rattling/jingling in the back. I'll also make a trip to the salvage yard, as I need the rear door vent glass, which was purportedly broken by the previous owner after he locked his keys in the car....

I realized lately that my car's finish has been shot to shit. I think this is due to me using this really harsh bug and tar remover at the high pressure DIY car wash more than a few times in the first couple of years I owned the car. No matter what I do, the car stays looking dull as hell.

I will probably be doing this at the end of August and I hope to have some good results. All of the materials including the buffers, pads, compounds, etc. should set me back about 300-400 dollars but that is simply due to the fact that I want to make sure I buy quality stuff and make sure to do this right. I will hopefully be doing a step by step breakdown of the process, with pictures included in a separate thread. Wish me luck.

Thats a very good video you found. Thats really the only way you can fix dead paint. If you already have the high speed buffer, you shouldnt pay any more than $200 max. I just started doing this recently to my P5. I work on it a little at a time(last week was the doghouse). My paint wasnt faded all that bad but I could tell that it could glow better than it was. I bought 3 new 3M foam compounding pads, two 3M foam polishing pads, 1 quart of 3m finesse-it foam pad glaze, 1 gallon of 3M compound, a new backing pad for my buffer and two 3M Trizact 3000 grit foam sanding pads for $187. The front end right now looks as though it was freshly painted minus the rock chips.

Keep in mind without some type of sanding it is going to make buffing out minor scratches that much harder. Believe it or not, sanding a dated finish will actually speed up the process a bit. Sanding as done in the video(1200-2000 grit) is risky as you could possibly sand thru on edges if youre not careful and it knocks down(flattens)the factory orange peel. With the 3000 grit foam pads it will just remove the first couple of micron sized layers leaving your "factory peel" intact. Also any paint that was recently applied will buff alot easier than paint that has been sitting in the sun for a few years.

Before you do any of this though, go buy a clay stick from Meguiars and go over your whole car with it. It will remove any contaminants and make it perfect for buffing.

I should probably just write up a tut instead of all this babbling..lol!!

Dude you got a serious dust bunny problem... oh wait that's a dog :D

Nice pics btw.

Anyway, I realized today that the clunk in my front passenger side is back. I am about 99.98% sure that it is the strut mount and that's why I just sent Ken a PM inquiring about the parts needed to replace the mount. I hope to God that the damn clunk goes away since I will probably be changing out the endlinks as well if they are impossible to get off again.

have you checked all the bolts and what not on the front sway bar? I had that problem and it turned out to be a bolt backing out.

Lol, I'll go ahead and put it up on stands later this week and make sure that there isn't a single other thing that it could be. I've checked each part at one time or another but who knows. the reason I'm almost sure it's the mount is cause when going over let's say rumble strips, which on the off ramp to King Avenue is basically what the pavement is, I can hear a distinct rattling coming from the TOP of the strut. When the car is parked and I bounce it by lifting it up and down, I hear a clunk coming from the TOP again. I just want to make sure to get this clunk taken care of soon, no matter what it is.

check the strut mount nuts, along with the top strut nut to make sure nothing's coming loose.

Thanks man, they're MB weapons 17X7 in bronze.

I painted my headliner and side moldings black this weekend. I still need to do the visors. I'll probably finish them by todays end.

I let it dry as long as I could outside before putting it back in the car. There's a slight linger but its not bad at all. I just need to get a new air freshener :D

Ok I propped it up on both sides and did a pretty good inspection of everything. I can't seem to pinpoint where the knocking is coming from but the sway bar bushings seem fine to me, endlink is on tightly, and there is no motion when I try to wiggle the wheel either up or down or left or right. I reached up into the top of the strut and found a lot of gunk, rust and some more crap but I figure that may just be normal. I'm gonna go ahead and go through with the strut mount option and new endlink possibly and I'll tell you how it goes.

1. Took off wing and put a layer of RAAMmat in it.
2. Painted MP3 wind splitter flat black
3. Found out why my power wire fuse blew the other night. Apparently the wire got sliced by some metal near the tranny mount (it runs under the oem air box) and arc-ed there. Taped up the sliced insulation, covered the wire in split loom, and zip tied it so it runs next to the battery instead of under it.

Pulled all my fuel rail stuff off again so I could hopefully find something evident to indicate why I've been having idle issues. I think the fuel line was being partially blocked by a hose insert I was suppose to remove so now that's gone and also one of the injector insulators was broken so perhaps that added to the case. Either way, ordered all new grommets, o-rings and insulators for the injectors. I also cleaned about every electrical connection remotely connected with the fuel system, cleaned the MAF and bought some seafoam for the gastank. I also bought some vacuum hose clamps for some connections I felt were suspect. She's going to be down for a few days while I wait for parts but hopefully my idle issue will be gone when everything is put back together.

Also purchased:
Valve cover gasket (to go with new valve cover)
3/8 NPT - 1/8 NPT fuel rail fitting to go with -
Autometer 1-1/2" mechanical fuel pressure gauge
TurboXS Type H (not -RFL) blow-off valve

I really, REALLY need to stop spending so much money on my car. Sure, I get a nice paying job and then look what happens...

And who's fault is this? I had an unexpected issue come up - you on the other hand decided to rip the whole car apart at the onset. When I build my motor, the P5 will be running until the day the new motor is ready to be put in. BTW, I've had the P5 down for over a month in the past - you know this!

Actually i had a reason...a unexpected issue that made me rip my car apart i burned thru 4 qts of oil in less then a week. Now if you dont think thats a reason to take the car off the road and rebuild then please by all means tell me what is. You 1st hand saw my exhasut ports on the head when we you came over that day to swap intake mani's. So i really had no choice in taking the car off the road just like now when i have no choice but to put the car back on the road. Its been off the road for 8 months and 3 days thats alot longer then a month

I wonder how an actual pissing contest would be judged.... distance? arc?Stream diameter? Or perhaps color?

Someone needs to think up the logistics of this...

:p I haven't done anything to her in two days because I'm still waiting for my fuel injections parts from Montgomery Mazda. In the meantime I've received more goodies in the mail for her: fuel pressure gauge and fitting, BOV and I have a new black powdercoated valve cover waiting for her as well :)

I've been leaning more and more towards getting me some of these. My problem would be I'd have to get them for the lows, hi's and foglights and to start I'm not even sure if that's possible but I'm sure it would be expensive! I'd also have to get the lowest intensity possible - I hate "blue" lights. Any recommendations?

go for anything under 5K
and you will be fine
5K is white
4300K is the white from far away but normal halogen bulb color up close.
