68 dings that I could count.
Final estimate.....$1800 damage for my car.
Do you know how exactly they remove the dents? Do they just somehow pop them all out?
In other news, my car is sitting in the garage jacked up with the front wheels off because I thought it wouldn't me much of an issue to get what remained of my original endlinks off. Ha, I was wrong. I got the air chisel all set up, but then I realized it was almost 1am and I don't think the other people living in the building would appreciate the noise :P
I guess I could dremel them off, I dunno. I almost want to give up and just get a new front sway bar but I don't think I really want one much stiffer than stock, I kinda like how it was with stock front and MSP rear.

I know all about hail damage. Mine is getting fixed right now.
I saw your post. Hail storm at redneck's house = new paint scheme. Nice. Can't wait to see the results.

I was lucky that my hail damage wasn't all that deep. We were able to block sand my roof and the tops of my doors down to almost metal. Then with primer and paint they will be gone.
Since I don't have photo shop this was done in "paint" similar to what my car will look like.

Hahaha....LOL Its a custom mixed black paint. It's a deep, dark black with blue mica in it. Also there will be blue pearl ghost flames in the black as well.
There are plenty of all black cars in Arizona. Besides I live in the mountains above 5000 feet. Remember i get snow. So the black in relation to the stereotype arizona heat won't really bother me. My only concern is dust and keeping it clean.
My painter was going to work on my car this weekend so hopefully it will be painted by Monday. Then let it cure so it can be wet sanded, cut and polished. I need it by next Saturday for an AZMC mountain run.

hmm today I spent quite a bit of time with the air chisel trying to get what remained of my old endlinks off my front sway bar to no avail. I then went to the dremel with a reinforced cutting wheel, and I got the steel ball off on one side. I gave up at this point because I realized that I don't have any drill bits good enough to drill out that steel, and on top of that the battery for my drill wasn't charged.
I put the car back together and drove around for a while and stumbled upon an abandoned building that happens to have an OK view of part of the city skyline so I stopped and snapped a few shots.

Hmm. Yesterday I installed my Greddy black chrome counterweighted knob (sorry no pics, but it's the spherical greddy knob that everyone gets). It sites more than an inch lower than the stock knob and the Mazda3 knob, and now even lower because I crossthreaded the greddy knob screwing it on over and over and trying to get my shaundarbie boot to sit right with it so I had to cut half an inch or so off my TWM's threading so that the knob would screw down far enough to grab the boot.
Today I got my S2000 antenna and slapped it on, I took a couple pics with my cameraphone but I don't have it paired (bluetooth) with my desktop so I'll upload the pics later when I get my laptop out of the car. It's nearly twice as long as my old shorty but I really like the look because it's also a lot thicker and flexible.

well i don't run snows ( i don't go out in the snow with the car) the main difference is the side wall, the low profile tire on the 18 makes it a bit harsh, but it's only on really bad bumps.

$364 shipped in one day.
yeah that's a nice price. I'm going to call the tire place up here (an authorized tirerack installer) to see if it would be cheaper to have them order them and mount them, since it saved my roommate about 80 dollars for his general exclaim UHP tires (#1 rated in the ultra high performance category on tirerack somehow). Plus, then if I got a blowout or any other damage I wouldn't have to ship the dead tire back to tirerack.
Rosshole
04-20-2006, 02:31 PM
The problem is, and I will post pics later, is that when I got an alignment last july, It obviously wasn't done properly and my tires wore incorrectly and prematurely. I am bringing the old tires with on sat, if I can get him to buy me a couple of tires and align it, great. All that I really want is a free alignment.
Rosshole
04-20-2006, 02:33 PM
Does anyone think that if I bring evidence of his bad alignment, then he will re-align it for free?
Kansei
04-20-2006, 02:35 PM
How prematurely? I have 10k on my tires and they are bald (well past the wear sensor mark) on the inside, on all 4 tires. I only put 300 miles on them before getting the car aligned (the day I installed my lowering springs, and then I didn't drive it again for 3 hellish weeks until my appointment for the alignment).
Rosshole
04-20-2006, 02:36 PM

Morrigan has had quite the week...
Good Friday dawned bright and sunny, with beautiful temps for this time of year... perfect for a little suspension install. On the menu: Ion Sport Springs (1.2" drop all around), Tokico Illumina Struts, and Racing Beat Rear Sway Bar (along with misc. nuts, endlinks, strut boots, etc). The rear sway bar alone I LOVE; tightens up the ass-end soooo much. Currently playing with the settings, so far 3 all around feels similar to stock; 4 all around is a bit stiffer, but I like it so far.
Monday saw her get an oil change... and a drive through a HUGE mud hole to get into the shop :( Thank goodness she was still rocking the steelies.
And today... :D FINALLY got the summers on her, and I must say she looks damn good. 03.5 MSP Racing Harts wrapped in 215/45 Falken FK-451's. No rub, but not a whole lot of clearance either, lol. Only got to try them out a bit as it was getting late, and she still needs an alignment (that's next Monday), but she definitely has a new attitude.
Still on the agenda: gauge rings (**********) and custom front grills (Mazdaspeedster) and painting the calipers (silver). Grills won't go on until they've cleaned up all the gravel and sand from winter. Oh yeah, and a new windshield, probably in about a month's time.
Yes, yes, I know... PICS! No complaints as I know she's dirty; washed and waxed (zaino) on Tues evening, but it's so dry here the car acts like a magnet for all the dust. Hopefully this weekend I can do a real photoshoot. (btw, BIG pics)

Ok the car is painted but..not done.
The entire car was block sanded by hand. All the hail damage has been repaired. R-M paint was mixed to the factory Laser Blue Mica. Then a blue pearl was added in just before it was applied.
The black is a custom mix of blacks to create a really deep dark black then a blue mica was added in.
After the car was completely sanded and all dents were fixed the hood was painted. It was done in the black & blue scheme and blue pearl was added over the black base coat then clear coated. It just didn't look right. It detracted from the overall scheme of things. So the ghost flames were sanded off. The hood was repainted in just the black & blue scheme. The valve cover was also painted with the custom black.
Then the car was painted with the altered laser blue. Next the roof was painted with the custom black. 95% of the wing was painted black with the edge in blue. The rear emblems are going to get shaved but didn't have time to weld the holes so that will get done next week.
The rims were sanded and painted with he custom black and then clear coated. Along the bottom of the car is a racing stripe done in the custom black. Along the rear doors in Mazda font it says zoom zoom in laser blue coming through the black stripe.
The grills will be painted in the custom black and clear coated tonight.
Here is a crappy camera phone picture that doesn't even come close to showing how AWESOME this car looks.

Washed it. Windexed the windows inside and out. Armor All'd the interior and tires. (I know, some of you guys hate that stuff...) Swept it out. Was disappointed I don't have my P21S wheel cleaner yet (so the rims didn't get cleaned.) Also RainX'd the windshield. Oh, and put on some touch up paint on the rear end in places that the previous owner didn't. :(

I guess u could say they fit of the stockers but i'm a mad perfectionist when it comes to my baby and the 1/2 inch gap on the inside edge was showing too much for my taste, i'm looking for a set that stretches over the edges. You could easily store some bodies under the cargo net to keep them from rolling around while going through border patrol.. now that I would know anything about it.
Today I drove my P5 around for a little and then bought some new tires from tirerack (couldn't pass up that excellent deal on the Bridgestones on tirerack even though they are 205/40 instead of 215/40). They are getting drop shipped to a local tirerack installer so I need to give them a call and get an appointment for mounting/balancing/alignment.

I had the bluebatmobile ones on my tails for a time, and while I really liked the look they gave, my only beef was that due to all the curves in the taillights, it was an absolute PITA to try and get them on with no creasing.
I ended up pulling them off and tinting them with VHT nite shades, and I absolutely love it. I'm planning to do the same with the headlights (eyelid only) later this spring. Just need a weekend when I'm not working so I can pull the bumper; I plan to install my new grills and paint the calipers at the same time.

Thanks. I used a flexible plexi type material. Not exactly sure what it's called because I got the material for free from a friend. It's used in refrigeration if that rings any bells. 1/4 inch thick and white. It goes back about 2 1/2 inches.

I'll trade you your MAM kit for the HIDs if you want :)
Clearly I went 186+ MPH far too often because after 10k miles they are totally worn down. I made an appointment today for mounting/balancing/alignment but they can't get me in until May 17th.
I'm going to give them another call tomorrow to see if maybe it would work better for them if I get the alignment done on some day before the tire mounting. They'll have the tires at their shop tomorrow drop shipped from Tirerack.com so I don't think they really want them sitting around for that long.
I definitely don't want to go anywhere else though

22.50 a tire for mounting, 4 dollars for disposal of old tires and new valve stems, and 75-100 for alignment.

Well, today I picked up and installed my AEM intake it took me all of 1 hour and no problems. I got a hell of a deal on it $100.00 + tax = $105.00 (ebay, FTW(first) ). I don't understand how people ass up these installs, I think you have to be as dense as a block of wood to screw it up. I got it from Altered Atmosphere in Gaithersburg, MD. I must admit they're a real stand up kinda shop, I was really impressed. I think I'd recommend them to anyone.

nice and small though.
.paul

It's less cranking power than an optima, but I'm not worried about it. It start the car just fine. The fact that it's so much smaller and about 1/2 the weight is worth it for me.
