well, just got done loosening all the head bolts and egr nut an retightened. ended up torquing off one of the head studs in the process. and the hissing/ticking noise didn't go away. so, I got no clue what it is. gonna go by a muffler shop to let them take a listen to see if they think it sounds like an exhaust leak somewhere.

also, with the addition of the header, it shifted my magnaflow so that it is now rubbing on my bumper and rattling. ghey!

Did the same thing with my AWR header. Ended up having to have the bolts replaced with studs. I had a leak at the midpipe that gave me an annoying hissing. I had a muffler shop cut off the flange on the header and midpipe and weld on a new one that matched up perfectly.

Did you research at all before you bought the 10000K kit? The best light output of the kits is that which is closest to natrual light colors, 4000-4500K. The higher you go, the lower the useable light is.

But, to each his own. You're going to get lots of dif. responses to your question.

I can't answer the question as I only use a 4300K kit and a 4000K kit. Havn't seen a 10000k kit in person to comment.

Install and post pics and how ya like em!!

wellll so far i put them in and i love them, at first i thought it was a complete waste of money cuz u cant see the light on the road at all during the day

but at night, holy baby jesus!! these things are super bright, and there not white but more of a baby blue, all the lines on the road look greenish when im driving haha

Ventus R-S2s?

Well, depends on what you want to do. The RS2s are a MUCH better street tire. RT615s are the scariest thing I've ever driven in the wet.

If you're looking for the stickiest thing out there, you've got the Advan Neova, the Bridgestone RE-01R, Toyo R1R and the Dunlop Durezza Z1 (iirc). Pretty much any of these will out perform the RT615. And for streetability, the RE-01R (the only one besides the RS2s and RT15s that I've got direct experience with) is a FAR better street tire in all conditions than the RT615.

News flash ladies and jellyspoons, the Azenis is no longer the king of the mountain, and it hasn't been for quite some time now.

Now, if you want a cheap tire that handles well? Sure, get the azenis. They're not a bad tire, don't get me wrong, but they're not the giant slayer many people make them out to be.

heh yea it's really not that bad. You just gotta get in there with masking tape and make sure everything is masked of real good. I sanded it down a little bit before I started taping it off. couple coats of primer, few base coats and a few coats of clear and you should be good. just don't overdo any of the coats cause starting over is a bitch.

Thought the klunkmonster had moved in yesterday but it was just one of the nuts on one of the rear oem endlinks that CAME LOOSE BY ITSELF after about 2 years of the illuminas & progress sway pushin & pullin on it. It wasn't finger loose, just enough for the car to move it around & make noise with. Nothin 5 seconds with the 14mm socket & long extension thru the wheel spokes couldn't take care of. Other 3 back there all good. Klunkmonster sent packin, all quiet comin to work this a.m. Thank god for the easy fix....& the wife for shakin the car while being on the ground to track it down.

Well, the azenis have been out of the game for a couple years now in the bigger wheel sizes (ie 17s, 18s) in favor of the RE-01R and even more so the Advan Neova. Only recently (last 12 months or less) has the RE-01R been available in small car friendly sizes (15s). Right now the battle seems to be RE-01R vs the Toyo R1R. They're pretty even right now, but the R1R is coming out in some larger sizes soon, so it should get interesting.

I haven't been looking into wheels too much lately (other things to fix/finish first) but the last time I looked only really the RT615s and R-S2s had the sizes I was looking for (215/45R16 or 225/45R16). I really want to get to work on the P5's suspension but unfortunately there are so many other things to fix first!

You know I would love to get it painted but I do not have the money to right now. If I were to get it painted, I think I would like to have the rest of the car painted along with it, I have more than a few ships in the paint here and there and the new paint of the lip would look completely off. Buuuuttt college student = no cash so for now it stays like that. I don't think it looks bad at all and I actually really like it so it's whatever.

In all honosty, would I be better off just spending the $140 and getting a brand new midpipe w/o a cat from Protegegarage?

Received my replacement JDM tail light from corksport and put it on today. Had to swap one of the bulb plugs so that I could use the hyper white bulbs. I guess the CS JDM tails really are JDM and not the DEPO replicas that I thought they were, as they did look different (wiring and bulb plugs) from my DEPO made JDM tails.

It was if it had never been installed. Just had to poke the temp sensor thru a grommet on the firewall & route to front of car, connect to fuse box hole(already came with pigtail that plugged right into back of plug on fuse box), & route wire up to mirror under headliner. No special adapter or tools, no hassle, works great. Not worth 200.00 + 100.00 for someone else to install. Was worth 130.00 & free install tho.

Anyone know if these would fit on my P5. My P5 is lowered 1.5":

with 225/45/17 Kumho tires

magnumP5

^^^ With that offset and those wide tires I'd venture to say NO. General rule of thumb is any offset under +45 mm is going to rub with a 215 series tire so for a 225 series I'd say you'd need a +50 mm or higher. Check out the Tire Fitment Guide for a little more information.

I'm actually glad that I don't have to drive the race car around any more. I was a hair from getting pulled over tonight. I made an agressive pass on some dweeb taking a corner at about 4 miles per hour after it opened up to 2 lanes and accellerated right up to the speed limit. Apparently some cop saw said maneuver and rolled up on me with a quickness. He got right next to me, gave me a dirty look, then went along his business lol. *phew* I saw him coming and had the "well, I guess 4 years without a ticket's not too bad" thought haha

On a 7.5" wide wheel maybe a 205 series will work with a +42 mm offset. From the tire fitment guide I get this:

for a 7.5" wide wheel:

205 series:
+45 mm may or may not rub depending on tire and suspension
+48 mm will not rub

215 series:
+45 mm offset may or may not rub depending on tire and suspension (more likely)
+48 mm should not rub

With a 7" wide you can probably get a little more wiggle room but I wouldn't push it. I'm planning on runng a 16x7 wheel with +46 mm offset with either a 215/45 or 225/45 series tire. The 215/45 tires should work no problem but the 225/45 will probably require some decent negative camber and possibly some fender rolling.

it all used to be connected and wraped in electrical tape haha. i brought it to some place to work on and they would work on it becaus they said it was a fire hazard... i never had any problems with it tho. But now that i have alot of free time i decided to re-wire the whole car. legit connectors and all...not the much electrical tape anymore.

I'm sorry, but there is no WAY that system is really pulling 1200 watts, maybe 1/3 of that RMS.

Yesterday got a free mod from my uncle: smashed in front bumper (doh)

Oh well, at least he is the rich uncle and just told me to get it fixed and let him know how much it is. Looks like I'll be getting the MSP bumper (no side marker thingys) and an MP3 wind splitter (naughty)

I really need to do something about the side markers and I think I may go the celica route but I kinda wanted some input.

Paint em black (tinted), Paint over them with white to conceal em, or change them out for celicas?

Thanks for the comments guys

They ride well. They're heavier than the stock 16's (shoot they're heavier than my 18's), so you'll notice this fact when accelerating and braking. The larger contact patch on the road tends to track a bit on LA freeways, but you'll be able to take the corners more aggressively.

Took my son for a drive up to Coca-Cola Park to watch the Lehigh Vally Iron Pigs (AAA team for the Phillies) game. The head coach of his baseball team offered to pay for all the kids and they were allowed to take the field and stand next to the players during the National Anthem. My son was standing near 2nd base.

They also gave the kids a pennant, baseball and he got some ice cream in a mini-batting helmet (that I had to pay for). All in all a great time and something he will remember forever.

Pay to drive on the Beach? that's crazy...

There's quite a few beaches here you can drive one but not recommended. I don't know what kind of sand you got there but down here the sand swallows even lifted trucks with 12" lifts 44" inch tires and 4x4 drive. Especially if they stop. they do ok as long as you full throttle through the sand. I learned my lesson well not quite. I got stuck in the sand a couple of times. It sucks looking for rocks, deflating the tires, and finding help to push/pull my baby out. Plus it's pretty embarrasing...We got more off road places than actual safe places to drive fast "illegally" that is.

BTW what you know about Jack Johnson? You know he's from hawaii right...

oh and i did nothing with my car today besides admire it and drive it to work.

It was a beautiful day in Massachusetts so I washed and waxed her today...

Also, had the Racing Beat cat back that I bought from Tege5 installed a few days ago. The sound is so addictive, I've barely listened to any CD's since it was put on! Definitely recommended if anyone's thinking of getting one. Used the stock exhaust hangers and they seem to be working fine. I was expecting to have to buy Corksport urethane hangers. Now, if I could just find a Kartboy or MSP shift knob...

Incidentely, I think Tege5 still has a full Injen CAI for sale if anyone's interested.

Replaced two tires: Falken Ziex 512 off, Yokohama S.Drive on (both 205/50 R16).

The Falken tires were not wearing very well, with the ones that had been in the back most of the time considerably more worn than the ones that had mostly been in front. Supposedly the alignment is ok, and pressure was religiously maintained at 32-33 psi, but they were pretty worn near the sidewalls, even though they only had about 8000 miles on them. So of course when this weekend one of the tires gets a nail through the sidewall it would have to be the least worn one of the four. Sigh. They don't make the 512 anymore and the tread pattern is different enough on the 912 that I was not comfortable putting a 912 on one side and a 512 on the other. The Yokohama's are on the front now, with one worn, and one not so worn, Falkens on the back.

I'm pretty sure 150whp would require High Compression motor rebuild to start so even with capabilities to do it yourself the right way work done! Just the work in my opinion is not worth the outcome!
