Yeah, headlights are HID. And, I couldn't get over how bright those halogen fogs are. Seriously!! I'm still trying to figure how to mount em on the car. They outperform our stock foglights by a brazillion times over!!

Gotta figure something out. Gotta!!

Do some monter garage shit, make a bracket of some sort, weld, chop, do what you gotta do, do they fit in the holes in the bumper atleast?

Installed rear strut brace just for kicks. Can't tell a difference but wasn't expecting one.

Installed short shifter. Took some dremel work on the cheap @$$ ebay shifter but it works now. Wasn't sure if I'd like it but I think I do. KB bushings make it stiff but I'm tempted to try the stock bushing again just to compare. I think it might feel more "smooth" and less chunky.

Used it to haul stuff. Earlier this morning (as the pics will show) I had my old miata wheels w/ mounted tires across the rear of the hatch. With the rear seat bottoms taken out, I was able to stuff a wheel (in box) in each rear footwell, and one where each rear seat would be, with 2 tires stacked on top of those. Total 4 wheels/tires, and then a set of loose wheels and tires lol

Added yet more oil. I had a pretty nice "POOF" of blue smoke upon startup this morning but the smoke clould quickly went away - vavle seals anyone? Also noticed that one of my brackets for my Progress 22 mm swaybar sheared off. It looks like the bottom bolt worked its way out and then the extra allowed movement destroyed the bracket. Anyhow, went to the Home Depot, bought some 1/8" thick aluminum, cut it down to size, drilled some new holes and presto, new bracket. I also went out and got some better hardward and put everything back together. Took some of the preload out of the endlinks to see if that won't avoid the problem next time.

I'm using the bushings that came with the bar - couldn't tell you what material they are made out of. The bar can move but it is stiff - the brackets sent with the bar were poorly designed by Progress. The brackets aren't large enough and clamp down pretty tightly on the bushings - there's a lot of stress going on down there. I tried to reduce some of that by taking the endlinks back a little.

You have to have a rear cargo cover around here. People see a bag in the rear or on the seat and start to think it just may be filled with pure gold bars or something.

I know a guy who had a window busted and the only thing he had was a bag on his back seat. They stole it, assuming it was filled with unmarked $100 bills or something. It was just his stankin sweaty gym clothes, probably still warm and moist!

Yeah it is quite depressing considering everything was fine to my knowledge just a week ago. I'm really hoping it isn't something too serious (like leaky valve seals aren't serious) but I really don't want to rebuild my motor now. Sounds like it's kind of hit or miss depending on what dealer you go to. I read about guys being told that you had to have rust penetrate thru and make a hole for them to fix it. Also, it sounds like the warranty is from dealer delivery date ? Like when they got the vehicle, that kinda sux if that is true. I have owned mine almost 5 years.... I'm gunna ask about it though.

If they dont cover, you might get lucky and maybe get a deal from them, 50-50 or 60-40?? you pay half. Only reason I mention that is along time ago I had a 1996 s10, just over 3 years old and out of warranty-- the fuel pump went out @ 33,900 miles-- they said they would pay for the parts if I covered part labor-- ended up costing me 138 bucks and not 600.
Good luck

Cascade VMax. I actually did two layers here where normally I don't double up on this product. I put a layer down, did a tap test and didn't feel it decoupled it well enough. Plus that other layer helped set up more of a barrier than with just one.

Heat gun? Never....not even at 15* F...which is the coldest I've installed it. I used Cascade's VMax applicator tool to install it, which is pretty sweet. I hate those rollers.

Dyno'd the car on Saturday and got some decent numbers (I think they're a little inflated). Too bad the dyno somehow lost my tach signal past 5500 RPM though - for some reason it didn't like the way my car was firing. I'd post the graphs but the RPM plot only goes to 5500 RPM and in the speed plot the tq numbers go all to hell after it lost signal. It's weird though; I've dyno'd the car three times and this is the first time it's ever happened...

I stopped at a wash center on the way in to work and I belive I found the best looking, but unfortunately the worst due to lack of water pressure wash center I have even been to. Also notcied my hatch is rusting again at the seams. It had just been replaced... guess I will mention that next time I am at the dealer.

ROFL, nope, glad that smoke wasn't coming from my V710s. :p
I sucked!!!! 1 slow run on ice-cold tires on a wet surface, 1 decent run, next run became a re-run as a cone wall was wiped out in front of me. 4th run had my spin-out and then the 5th was almost the same time as my second. I was launching too high and learning that the P5 does not have an LSD...

Yeah, and much less on the driver's side and almost non-existent compared to the liners on the MSP w/ the 245s. It could have been the course, so I'll check it after the Test n' Tune next Sunday.

Hmmm...either stock or the modified ones I used w/ the GCs. I can't remember what ended up on there after we put the stockers back on.

aMaff

You may want to check on that. The modified ones are ok for the rates you were running before, but I wouldn't run stock springs w/o the stock bump stops esp. if you're running into the fender.

I was going to work on the P5... but decided to wait a couple days before commandeering the garage. My AWR endlinks were gross from winter so I hit them with a wire brush on the Dremel and am in the process of priming them and then painting them black.

Cleaned the interior of my Acura (lol Acura thread) since it had gotten pretty dirty through the winter. Well, dirty compared to the previous owner's high standards. I was moving the seat back to clean more thoroughly when I noticed a gross stain--looked like upchuck . So I removed the seat and busted out the heavy cleaning materials. Now the car is mint! so i just got done.

washed
clayed rear hatch
dried. polished out some scratches i found while drying the car using my UDM, a low pro orange pad. and XMT3. i also worked in some of meguiars #7 glaze with an orange pad on the driver side fender, just to see if it would change the look of the paint. working it in witha cutting pad at 5k rpms until the polish was translucent gave the fender a much wetter look. the paint was alot deeper as well. however i have a paper to write, and i was to tired to spend 5 hours glazing the car.

i also polished the headlights, and made them almost crystal clear. i removed alot of the haze, but the pitting still remains. that has to be wetsanded out. and ill probably do that in the near future.

she also got a coat of megs 21 synthetic sealant, and i also polished the muffler tip, and face of the muffler that has the racing beat logo.

and my mom just told me its going to rain tomorrow =( at leasts she looks pretty in the garage...

The right rear would shoot out when pushed down on. It was weird. I changed out all four, might as well have some with lower miles. :) I took the car for a test drive and loved it.

I'm curious about one thing though. What gets thrown out of whack in the alignment when changing out the struts? I haven't taken the car yet. Will I need the four-wheel alignment, or just the front? Or will I need it at all? Thanks in advance.

I'm curious about one thing though. What gets thrown out of whack in the alignment when changing out the struts? I haven't taken the car yet. Will I need the four-wheel alignment, or just the front? Or will I need it at all? Thanks in advance.

Camber seems to be the main thing... I personally would do all four just to make sure everythings running right as you truly don't know if the back was off to begin with.

Just my 2 cents

Today it was the first warm day of the year here in Vancouver and I drove it. I am seriously convinced that this is a warm weather car! Everything about it feels so much better when the sun's out. Even the clutch chatter keeps itself fairly well-behaved.

It really isn't that much trouble at all and under $40 shipped from http://www.onlinemazdaparts.com Took me about 20 minutes using a file (and that is because I was sitting at my desk at work).

Today I changed the oil and added a full four quarts! Lovin' that 626 filter upgrade already.

Yesterday I finally lowered her....

LOL awesome. Speaking of lowering, I installed the Tein S-Techs today :D

Here was the day:
3 hours spent putting Eiback Pro-Kits on Dezine's P5
3.5 hours spent putting Tokico Illuminas on Celco's P5
1 hour spent swapping the MSP Springs for the S-Techs on my P5. Anyone want to guess what the time difference came from? If you guessed "cutting 7 of those 8 endlinks on the other 2 cars with a dremmel, and going through half a dozen cutoff wheels, you're correct. WOW that sucked ass. Ugh. That was absolutely ridiculous. Celco's car was in Michigan for a few years, and we don't know where Dezine's was originally, but it wasn't nearly as rusty. The endlinks were just boofed. Anyway, whatever. I was extremely happy with how well mine went though. Literally, from pulling the car into the garage to getting it back on the ground in an hour. It was AWESOME :D

Pics to come later (maybe tomorrow)

HAHA no worries dude, it was fun. I always enjoy letting the sparks fly. Honestly though, if the endlinks didn't come loose on mine, I was just going to forget it and do it another day because I REALLY didn't want to cut another set of those bastards. I bought a sawzall to cut off the endlinks. They came off this time, but I also had to take off the brackets on my AWR bar. The sawzall made easy work of that. Plus, I can mod my fenders in the future for the 275 wide tires :D

Unless you strapped them down, I don't think I zip tied anything. It's probably the nubs of the endlinks clanging around. May want to go ahead and check that. Now that you have some mileage on them, it's probably not a bad idea to check all the bolts to make sure nothing's worked its way free. I plan on doing that later on in the week, maybe Wednesday or Thursday.

Not yet. I don't have a tester - the local car cluub is supposed to have one but no one seems to know where it is. A leakdown test would be ideal and I know someone who has a tester just no compressed air. I just have a lot of other things I need to focus on more at the moment (graduating, etc.)

Yeah I've got pretty decent knowledge of the shops and stuff in the area I just don't want to have to pay for something I could do on my own. Fortunately I don't drive the P5 too much so the possibility for causing any more damage is lessened. I was going to look to do a compression test last weekend but I had to take an 8 hour test on Saturday and then it rained all day Sunday.

Oh I went through at least 6 or 7 gallons of gas on Sunday. The day consisted of autocrossing (8 runs total on my car), a total of 50 miles driving, and some idling in between runs and staying warm.

So yeah, definitely single digit gas mileage there  And that was driving the speed limit on the interstate due to a crappy alignment (didn't have enough time before the event :().

The car felt pretty decent but I was disappointed with my driving and the times. Traction was real bad, too sandy and probably cold. Hopefully the alignment and better weather will help. Those 275s are tempting...
