You can say your car is modded now :P
Lol, that only works in a Civic.
Washed last night, only to be dirty again by the time I got to work today. I drove for a total of 10 minutes. Winter makes it nearly impossible to keep the car clean.

Kinda ticked off i rev the sh1t out of my motor till it sounds like gran turismo in the parking structure. I look left the right pop my clutch pull the hamd brake and lay a 30ft burn out tire track. I will be ordering some goodies this week, hopefully. Gimmie your thoughts.
I'll be ordering a new shortblock from Ken as soon as the warranty company says go, and, so everyone knows, I won't be going the route of the turbo. It'll be cheaper for now to stay N/A. With that being said, here's the list I'm working on that the mechanic is gonna put in on the warranty companies dime
New clutch- At most, I'll have a header, intake, midpipe, and exhaust. Is the Exedy OEM replacment good enough? Or, should I step up to a Stage 1?
Flywheel- with said mods, is it worth the $350?
AWR tranny mount- I've already got a front, working on getting a back from amember on here, and, will add the tranny mount as well
I think that's all for now. Whatcha think?

Swapped out the P5 badge for 323F. Also have 323Astina but 323F won out. Looks cleaner, simpler, & confusing to others.lol. Pic of badge is still in camera. Redid my intake outta my box o intakes piecing together a different one with a 3" elbow from filter to MAF-2.75", MAF to 2.5" short elbow into throttle body. That elbow also has mounting for vacuum thing. NA so thinking the tapering funnel effect from filter to TB might create a little velocity. Yeah, I know, zero to micro more probably. Also added an oil catch can to the PCV side between PCV & intake manifold. Another test to see if that's where 1/4 quart is going every 7-10 days. Not thinking any is going into air intake because inside there is completely clean & nothing on the throttle plate. I want it to burn gas only. Don't want ecu dumping in more fuel to compensate for "premix" situation either. And, no, no leaks or smoking & compression good accross all cyl.

Well, if you remember or not, about a month ago, I broke the purge solenoid installing my SRI. Well, about that time, something smashed the spark plug shut and was only running on 3 cylidners. Took it to the mechanic and ordered a new solenoid from Jason at onlinemazdaparts.com. Mechanic swapped em and put a new plug in and i drove away fine, till I put gas in the tank. After everytime I put in gas, the motor would choke, sputter, misfire, then die. Let it set a second, start it again and keep the revs above 2000 and I was alright, till the third time I filled up with gas.
Filled up, started, it sputtered, popped, and died. Started again and I got a CEL flashing at me, and, it feels like it's on 3 cylinders again. I take it to autozone, 1/4 mile away and get the CEL checked. It was a misfire in cylinder 3 now, was 4 last time.
Take it to the mechanic from autozone. He starts it the next day and it starts knocking like a dog. So, now we're in the process of finding out if I get a new motor or not. It's gonna throw a rod within a week if I kept driving it. Mechanic only starts it to move it in and out of the bay and he's affraid to even do that.
So, now, we wait. The motor is pulled and he should have someone from the warranty company come check it out tomorrow. I hope I need a new motor
I was going to go forged, but, my wallet isn't going to let me, so, I'm hoping to pick up a new motor from Ken at Protege Garage, and a clutch and flywheel and tranny mount from AWR in the process.

Yeah, it's all going under warranty. That's why it taking so friggen long! Everytime the mechanic goes one step into the tear down, he's gotta have someone come look at it and approve a further tear down. I'll be calling the mechanic today. He should have the motor torn down by the time I leave work. Find out if I need a new motor, or, if the warranty people want him to try to "fix" the current one.

It doesn't let the frame twist/bend/flex at all... There's no body roll... When going into driveways sideways one rear tire comes off the ground... Doesn't let the body twist at all... It's loose but when cornering you can't move the bar at all... So i believe it's doing its job... Oh yea i did it the same time as the rear strut tower mod... It seems like it probably does the same thing as the gt-spec vbrace but from within the car...

Tylor, you might want to look at having a front sway bar installed, now that the engine is out and you have the room. I've heard great things about them, but the install is terrible while the engine is in.

just out of curiosity don't you also have shocks and or struts that should extend slightly downward to keep that tire on the ground?... maybe its just me? (uhm)

the tokico blues don't rebound fast enough to keep the tire on the ground especially since there's no force being applied to it. Now when cornering its a different story cuz the springs help the strut rebound quicker. Try jacking up ur car. It should take a while for the strut to completely extend. Or atleast it should unless there blown. And depends how high the tire comes off the ground cuz it can only come down so far. Im sure if i stayed sideways for a while the tire would eventually touch the ground.

Got the Ziex 912's installed on the P5. Same size (205) as the Ziex 512's that were on there before, but way wider looking! Car looks sort of bad-ass now, the rubber really fills the wheel wells. I took before/after pictures, but the camera is at home, and I'm in class...

Oh, was also informed that the brakes are done on the P5. Rears are actually more worn than the fronts, which is odd unless I've done the fronts before. I honestly can't remember if I've done fronts or not on this car. Car has 43,000 miles.

It doesn't look like much in the pics, but the tires do look quite a bit wider in person. I think they bulge out from the rim more.

Tylenol 3 doesn't do anything for me, but, these vicoden are making me fly. Seriously. I had the 2 on the right side of my face pulled 4 months ago. They were seriously infected bad!! I couldn't wait the additional day to fast so they could knock me out, so, I was awake during that procedure. All 4 of my teeth were impacted. The first time they shot about a dozen novacane shots in my gums and yank'd till they came out.
That was a procedure I swore I would never repeat being awake. Laying there and watching the doctrs face as he pulls something out of my jaw was not fun!!
At least they knocked me ou this time. They were impacted and infected again, but, I went in as soon as they started to hurt rather than wait till I can't take it anymore. Either way, all the wisdom teeth are out now, so, I should be good to go.
Also, on a side note, I should have my car back mid next week. The mechanic said the only thing wrong with the motor is the main seal, he ordered a new one. He said the bearings and pistons and cylinder wallsa re all good to go. nothing wrong with em, so, as soon as my rear motor mount shows up, he's gonna put the motor back in. Then we address afew other issues.

02-22-2008, 10:10 AM
tylor, i couldnt agree more. I had to have 2 teeth pulled a couple years ago and i was awake for it. That was the worst pain i had ever experienced. One was infected enough that novocain did nothing to keep the pain down. They had to drill into the tooth and literally dump novocain directly on the nerve, still, the pain was there...
Both of my teeth being pulled shattered when they were being extracted because they didnt want to come out...so that made it more fun...
I will never do that again, i'll pay the extra $ to be put out.
I had to tell them to give me something other than vicodon, i took 2 600mg vicodons and they did nothing, so they gave me 60mg demyrols...THOSE were fantastic lol

Wow, that's not too good at all. My 23.99 mpg was like 90% city and I know I wasn't always driving "nicely". I'm pretty sure if I drive like a normal person for the entire tank I can do roughly 25 mpg city and I know for a fact I've gotten 30+ mpg all highway.

not to sure but expect advancing both cams 3degrees has something to do with it. I gained an extra 40 miles per tank. My day starts with a 6 mile cruise up the mountain. Once u reach the down hill section its 8 miles of stop and go traffic to my gf house. From there its about 12 miles stop and go traffic to her school and 11 miles stop and go traffic back to my school. After school I drive back 11 miles in traffic to pick her up and 12 miles back in traffic to her house. Then a few extra city miles just hanging out. My day ends with me driving back through the mountains with smooth traffic.

Installed new brake pads and got the rotors turned. With that and the new tires this week, the car should be safe now.
Also, I cleaned up the engine bay a bit. It was dusty in there! I guess when the car just runs, I'm not in there very much to think about wiping it down!

Yup....first click down allows you to adjust from S(slow) to F(fast) about 10 settings, second click is lo speed and third click is hi speed.
I will take a pic tonight and post it up.
(boom07) I believe my front and rear wipers have varriable speeds...i know their neither just on or off...
Do you have the factory switch? The factory has intermittent settings for both front and rear however you cannot adjust the speed of the intermittent front wipers.
mx-p5
02-25-2008, 02:24 PM
My car isn't just on and off. That's not what I meant. THere is a off, a couple second delay, turn it a little less delay, then constant on.
It does the job, I'll just have to see a vid before I go spending $100
The Tribute washer nozzle is a must, but, $100 for a slightly more adjustable washer wiper speed, I'm not sure

Yes, this allows you to adjust the speed. Very nice for that annoying rain that is not enough to set them to lo and too much to set them at the intermittent speed.

Its oil starvation from weak oiling systems. There is even an article about it in Mazdasport Magazine. Doc B racing has discovered this problem. They are working on a solution. Horsepower freaks have also offered a solution to this problem with the FSDE motor..
I see so you found the link to the TOGA oil pump... Sorry couldn't post up the link in the other thread cuz im on my iphone and didn't feel like writing that whole link down.

I installed my Tsudo header tonight. I love it. I can't wait to take it out and see what a difference it makes.

Is that TRUE??? Can someone comfirm that?? Just ordered mines today.I may have it backwards, only the 03 MPV stalk works? Lemme dig up the how-to................OK, here's the skinny. You have no issue. The issue was for sedans. Have to get a euro 626 stalk to work on mp3 or sedans. 2002-2004 MPV stalk should work for the P5s. Sorry for the misinfo, been a few yrs since doing this & just remembered there being a catch, it just wasn't for the P5s evidentally, just for sedans.
Installed Progress rear sway bar.
How's the difference?
I'm scared that if I install this sway bar, the rear is just gonna be so stiff that the it's going to slide out in hard corners.
It's happened twice to me already with the stock sway...

You should autocross more. I'm reading this going... "yeah, it's supposed to do that" lol
For the record, I'm in no way condoning hanging the car out around corners on the street, BUT: if you want to learn car control, autocross for a couple seasons. You'll know exactly what the car's going to do in 99% of any situation you'll get in on the road.

'01-'04 Tributes or MPVs? We've got an '00 MPV.
If that would work, my wife would be very happy. It is her P5.
Yeah, MPV's too. The part # is the same. You might be ok with the 2000. I searched onlinemazdaparts with the part # and this is what came up (it mentions 2000 a couple of times)

You may want to confirm with Jason there first though or swap them and see if it works. Only takes about 10 minutes.

Yeah, us hatchback owners need the Tribute or MPV stalk so we have the rear wiper controls.
