That would piss me off is someone broken into my car. The damage they would do would be more expensive than what they stole. I mean, the parts they are getting are pretty damn good but they are cheap for how nice they are.
They might as well steal some over expensive high end name brand stuff and then buy two or three systems of what I have. And still sound the same. (band2)
It would be a matter of, damn you stole my sounds and all this cost to fix glass. Rather than damn that was my life savings into a shitty sound system.

I've had those on for the past 3 years. Drive it to skiing and also up to Canada a couple of times each winter. Drove in a snow storm last year from Boston to Bangor. I worry more about the right winter tires than clearance.
Where do you ski?
Mostly I drive from Oswego, NY to Tully, NY about 4 times a week and its always a rough drive. I also go to Vermont a lot when I'm back home on break and those roads are always fun. I have 4 blizzaks that treat me real well though and I just need my clearance for my home mountain's parking lot mainly.

LOL, I forgot to mention they were almost all highway miles. I drove ~285 miles back from Blacksburg on Sunday and then drove to and from work on Monday and Tuesday. We get a fair amount of traffic here in Hampton Roads at rush hour so I wouldn't say all of my miles were highway. But yeah, straight city I usually see something like 22 mpg (20 or lower if I really drive hard). I'm tuned to be at 12:1 AFRs at 10 psi. Haven't really gotten around to complete the tune for the rest. I know it runs really rich at like 5 psi and a little lean at lower pressures.

Well... one less MAM pipe in the world. I was working on it, initially to fix a hole in the weld, when it became apparent that patching it up would not be right. I escavated every part of the pipe. It seems like the pipe was nice quality, when it was first born, but it's since deteriorated greatly. The amount of work needed to make it functional would not be long lasting. It would have to be constantly repaired.

You know I have thought about trying to sell mine too but, just don't figure I would really get anything worthwhile out of it. I think I'd rather just work on getting a 3rd car and driving this one into the ground. I have a 70 mile drive to work everyday and would love to get another car that I don't have to pile the miles up on........ I was looking at an 04 R32 the other day but the guy sold it already...... Might just end up with a Speed 3 or 6 one of these days....

Yea, I have pretty much decided to keep mine and run it into the ground as well.
My next additions to the fleet will be a 70's truck (75 ford F-100, still looking but that's prolly the closest to what I want) and 5.0 mustang, after that I will probably re-evaluate the situation. I would love a 96 Impala SS.
For the truck and the mustang, the initial cost of each should only be $1,000 or less, but the after market potential can run into the 10's of thousands haha.
The Protege5 needs to stick around forever, it's like the kid.

First of on the back of the voltmeter gauge there are three smaller peggs, do all these need to be wired to a switched positive wire for all the lights to work on the gauge? Here is a pic of what I am talking about:

all in all, could have been a lot worse, but as it is i'm pissed; not so much that they took my stuff, but at the whole inconvenience and aggravation of the situation. especially because i now have to cross my fingers and hope that i can get the wheels off the car without damaging them or breaking something. wish me luck on that...

At least you can match up your current locks to the photos.

solid MM?! No bushing material at all? Last I checked, the SU mounts weren't solid by a long shot.
No one makes true solid motor mounts for our cars. So the next best thing is SLS, AWR, and Steet Unit motor mounts.
This is what I installed.

I'm pretty sure by solid he means no holes in the bushing material (unlike holey stock mounts).

my baby was violated on the weekend :( she was parked in the driveway and somehow was left unlocked, so thankfully there's no damage to the car. bastards took the garage door opener (which has since been reprogrammed), my little baggie with a few tools and my wheel lock key (VERY pissed about that) from the glovebox, and my custom sub box and sub. they didn't touch the HU though, which kind of baffles me. also took some stuff from our neighbour's jeep, which was also unlocked (xm satellite radio, and a couple other small, easy to grab items).
all in all, could have been a lot worse, but as it is i'm pissed; not so much that they took my stuff, but at the whole inconvenience and aggravation of the situation. especially because i now have to cross my fingers and hope that i can get the wheels off the car without damaging them or breaking something. wish me luck on that...
That sucks, Andrea! I'm sorry to hear the bad news...at least they didn't do anything to the car itself!

whitemp5seattle
11-27-2007, 01:25 AM
we don't really have an alarm. we have a keyless doorlock remote with a panic button if you fall down near your car and can't get up. you can buy a factory alarm from mazda which has a shock sensor, but prolly the best thing would be to get an aftermarket alarm...or at least a blinking red light to put somewhere on the dash lol

Tried to drive the P5 this morning, but as soon as we got into the garage, my son started saying "White Van, White Van." I got my wife to drop me my other keys, and drove the kid to school in the MPV. :(
I did spend a while last night looking at pictures of Sport-20's. If the next car we buy goes to my wife, and I take over the P5 as my daily, I'd seriously consider trading hood/fenders/front bumper with a '99-00 owner that wants the MP3 look, and picking up a Sport-20 bumper and grill. It would be unique, and I love the Sport-20 look.

Yeah it'll put a lot of weight and stress on the face of it. I think someone's cracked due to that. Cutting it will suck worse too, haha. Those bolts shouldn't be too tough to hit though, get a decent size breaker bar, even a 3/8" one and go to town. 14mm socket IIRC.

http://www.edgeracing.com/images/wheel/flik_ftd_(matt_titanium)_angle_zoom.jpg
They're Flik FTDs in Matte Titanium. 16x7, +43. 16lbs ea. Should be able to fit a nice 215/45 under there :). I may need to roll the fenders in the rear, but I need to do that now, so...what the F ever lol. I envision a meaty RS2 Z212. Mmmmmmmmmm, hot sex :D
I've always been a fan of the small wheel, meaty tire look, so if it works out, it should be fun.
She's trying to sell them as a package deal on a local forum w/ a few sets of race tires. They were on her C-Stock autocross MX5 and they've currently got a set of R's mounted. She hasn't had many bites, so she says she'll let me know soon if they haven't sold in the 'package deal' when she'll sell em to me separate.

Because of changes in the capsule gas chemistry, HIDs shift upspectrum slowly with time. So your 6000K kit will be "hotter" after a year or so. Higher color temp capsules were originally developed as replacements to color match older capsules.

The things they have for organizing sockets are absolutely the greatest invention ever. I'm so glad I won't often have to go hunting in my toolbox squinting to read the stamped numbers on the sockets. I think I used to spend more time doing that than anything. I also picked up a set of the laser etched 1/2" drive sockets from sears tonight. It was great. There was a bolt on the miata's transmission I was working loose that I couldn't even see (had to do it by feel as it was on the very top of the tranny) and I look up, and out of the blackness all I see is the number "17" on the side of the socket. Yeah, there's another one you can get. What's fun is you'll notice that they stack all 3 in the store, then the fine print notes that it's only the top and bottom pieces included in the price they're advertising lol. Kind of a tool thing you do, but I always try to read the fine print, so that didn't sneak up w/ me. I didn't think I needed the middle part yet, so I just went w/ the 2 piece for the time being. The 3rd can be bought if / when I need it.

The problem with that is you have to remember to put the things back where they belong. I tend to pull tools out and use them and keep pulling tools out until the job is done. When the job is done I just leave everything out because I am busy playing with what I just created or eating or getting cleaned up. Then the tools just lay around unorganized anyway.

After nearly 1.5 months down-time, she runs again. All thanks to about an hour of work and my buddy Gabe helping me yank the axle out.
The boost felt SOOOOO good, must be a combination of driving minivan or Camry for extended period of time and the cold weather. It pulled super hard! I drove it around for about 30 minutes through my favorite curves and places where I can let it rip, then filled it full up with gas and parked it back in the garage. That's where she'll stay until I find or rent another place to park her after I buy a daily driver car.

I just put on a set of Tien S-Techs on my 02 P5. With the stock struts, it handels great. I can't imagine what it will be like once the new 19.5mm, AWR sway bar and the Tokico HP struts are on.

Yeah I love them too, the rake is perfect in my eyes. But hoping they get a little bit more comfortable with Tokicos. Bit of a bounce when driving on section roadways.

I've been getting 26-28 mpg but that's mostly highway.
BTW: Does anyone know how hard it is to change the clutch?
The service manual isn't all that detailed, I couldn't find a How-to either.
I've been feeling it slip under hard acceleration.

Hey - does anyone know where I can buy a block heater for my P5? I tried searching the forum and the internets and I found nothing. I thought mazdastuff.com had them, but no dice.

so i replaced teh spark plugs last tuesday, and the car was running great. no weird start up issues (where the rpms rise and fall) and i wasnt ahving any misfires. today i started my car up after work and my idle was rising and falling again, and it missfired at idle as well...
so far ive replaced plugs, the passanger side coil pack, and C1 wire. im tired of spending money. ive cleaned the IAC and teh EGR valve as well.

So far we are both ok, my back is starting to stiffen up though. The car is not in so good of shape, I'm pretty sure that it will be totaled. So far i need a new hood, new bumper, new radiator, new headlights, new core support, and new grill. My bumper support thing is pretty messed up too.

600mg Ibuprofen and light stretching should do for the back. As for the car, RIP. Sorrt for your loss.

pulled out the amp and HU with the help of our neighbor last in in preparation for trading in my car today or tomorrow - i'll miss her when she's gone, but it's time to move on. didn't give me quite what i was hoping for in trade, but it's the best offer i've had.

Did you get checked out by an EMT at the scene? If not might be worth a trip to the hospital. Can't see any of the pics but it does sound bad...if it is totalled - part out (light at the end of the tunnel?)
My Osram silverstars arrived this morning. I swapped out the burnt silverstar in the PS and will do the DS later this week when my new, used intake shows up!

Froless you did the exact same thing I did back in June - damage looks to be about the same as well except my radiator and bumper support were still fine - just pushed back. Damage total on mine was nearly $4k - no where near being totalled but still not fun. Hope everything works out for you.

2000 Isuzu Rodeo LS (v6, 4x4) w/72k on it. Paint and interior in great shape, as is the mechanical condition of the vehicle, with more than ample room for hauling around two furkids. Was really hoping to get a RAV4 - absolutely LOVED the seats, they fit me like a glove - but there just wasn't one in my price range or a dealer willing to give me anything close to what I was wanting for my car in trade. Later next year I may pick up a driver's seat from a wrecked RAV4 and see if I can get it to fit in the Rodeo, we'll see.

2000 Isuzu Rodeo LS, v6 4x4 - it's nice to finally have something with a bit of power behind it, though i'll really miss the handling in the P5.
was wondering if anyone might be interested in an all-weather (4 layer) car cover custom fit for the P5; obviously i don't need it anymore. i only used it when i parked my car last winter for about 5 months, it's in brand new condition and worked great.
i also have NIB luminics yellow fog light bulbs. pm me if interested in either the car cover or bulbs.
