Stripped the molding off of the driver's side today. My fingers ache from all the adhesive removal! Tomorrow I'll get the passenger side done!

I remeber those days lol. I did one side and said I would do the next side the next day and went for like a month with one side done lol.

I just got back from the tow company's impound, I got all the stuff that i could out of the car.
-XM radio stuff
-radar detector
-aftermarket gauges
-rubber floor mats
-all the crap in the trunk

The only thing left non-stock are the espelirs, obx headers, and the ebx rotors
Hopefully they'll let me at least take out the springs.

So is it def. a total? Sorry to hear you busted it up.

This morning, I put my race wheels/tires on my friend's P5 so he could get to Atlanta for work. He got a flat last night on one of his fronts, and when he pulled it off, he discovered the cause of the vibration he's had since he bought the car: His RF wheel has a huge dent on the inside edge of the rim!

I found him a rim locally from a GACC member, he's picking it up tonight, so everything is looking good.

Also, while I was waiting for him to get here, I checked out my audio setup in the MPV. I'd noticed this week that the bass just wasn't hitting as hard as it should. Turns out the power wire to the amp had pulled out of its spade connector. Reconnected, I have bump in the bus again! :D

Is your setup just that stiff and/or you running a lot of negative camber? The last time I checked the 16x7 RPF1s only came in like a +43 mm offset. Hell, I'm worried about the 16x7 +46mm 57c's I want to go with and I have no problem running a little negatice camber.

A little of both. A lot of neg camber up front (I think -3+ degrees), and camber bolts in the back that maybe give me -1 degree. The JICs are stiff, but not as stiff as some coilovers or as stiff as I'd like. The front isn't a problem as far as rubbing. The rear can be. It depends on your ride height, spring rate, camber, etc. My rear fenders are rolled which helps some too.

thats a posibility because i do have CC. there is another place next to it, the black rubber thing to the right, that Chris said to poke another hole in it and route it through there. so hopefully this week i'll get a chance to do that because...the wiring in my housing is toast, not the bulb itself :( i guess thats better than the wires running through the engine bay going bad.

Yeah, I know. :D Here's the reasoning behind it: my P5 rims are on the MSP, the P5 rims for the MSP have dead tires we haven't replaced yet, and the RBs are without tires. I had the Enkeis on my car which are dual bolt pattern to fit Mom's Forester and yesterday was the Subaru Challenge. We'll probably get the Azenis put on the P5 rims this week and then put them on the MSP until it gets too cold. And the snow tires are really for the MSP, not the P5. :)

Ok, its not a P5 but still. Yesterday my neighbor came to me with this...

116919

She has 70k miles on it and hasnt done anything other than change the oil a few times since she bought it with 55k on it. She never cared to keep the engine clean and comes to me complaing that Mazda wanted $300+ for a 30k mile check-up and ask me if I could help. I changed the oil and put in the 626 V6 oil filter, cleaned the K&N air filter I gave her about a year ago from my ride, flushed the radiator and refilled with new coolant, changed the ATF and the spark plugs looked decent but I changed them as well because I don't think they had ever been changed.

116920

I got all the work done and felt too bad about retuning the car with the engine bay in its current state so I spent about 15 mins cleaning things up and returned her nice and clean:)

116921

All for $50, what a deal huh? I must miss my car lol.

Yeah, its a chick's car... if you couldnt tell by the first pic lol. She has things to do and was busy all weekend and actually ask me to do this work last weekend. I know I might do something like that for free for some ass or something but shes not that kinda girl so im just gonna take the $50 she offered me lol. I looked up what mazda does for the 60k mile service along with a few things thats should have been done sooner that they probably would have charged out the ass for, the base they told her for the service was $300. She paid $37 at Auto Zone and $50 to me, not bad at all.

Yeah, I always hated having that left over half quart and then getting to the store the next time and wondering if I still had half a quart laying around or not. Not to mention I don't see how that tiny stock size filter does much anyways.

the funny thing is I had half a quart left over from the last time...and I bought 4 new quarts and I was gonna use the old half quart and be left with a new half quart (of fresher oil I guess?). After I put in 4 of the bottles I picked up the last bottle to put half a quart in, and I realized that I had already put in 4 quarts of the new oil, leaving me with my half empty bottle of leftover oil from the last time (hand) oh well...oil doesn't really go bad, does it?

same as with aftermarket struts and sway bars. You want to have zero pre-load. Basically, while the car's sitting on the ground, you want the bars to be sitting horizontal.

First thing out of his mouth was can you bring it back tomorrow because it is not going to pass inspection. I asked him why and he said it was because of all the stuff done under the hood . I told him hook it up to the machine it will pass. So he said my window tint was to dark I said no its not put it on a meter it will pass. so he said okay and pulled it into the garage . all he did was hook my car up to the machine he did not check lights horn or anything else he did not even check the window tint. I told him hook it up to the machine it will pass. So he said my window tint was to dark I said no its not put it on a meter it will pass. so he said okay and pulled it into the garage . all he did was hook my car up to the machine he did not check lights horn or anything else he did not even check the window tint. My car passed so now my nerves will be calm for another 11 months :)
i hate the inspection process i'm tempted to move to FL or some other state that doesn't require it...it's so much BS it drives me crazy...the system is so screwed up that a couple of yrs ago they almost scrapped the emissions piece because the software was failing everyone! i see car driving around here that shouldn't even be on the road, yet they have a current sticker....it sucks!(moon)

^^^^x2 A few years ago PA scrapped their emissions testing and as of 2/3 years ago implemented a new test.....which also doubled the price of the testing. I don't know about MA, but another thing that seems odd is the state doesn't mandate the price of our state inspections. One shop could charge you $35 for the regular inspection while another will charge you $18?!?!(uhm)

Took the P5 back to the place I took it (and the van) for an oil change last weekend. Dru's been smelling something since the oil change, and while it's not unusual to get a little oil on the exhaust or something and have a burning smell for a few hours, it is a little odd to have it for a week and ~300 miles or so.

Turns out, the filter wasn't sealed properly and some oil was leaking. The good news is, it wasn't even leaking badly enough to read as low on the dipstick and the shop was cool about it and just re-did the oil change for me for free. Honestly, we all make mistakes, and what really shows your merit is how you deal with them. This shop took good care of their mistake, so I'll probably go back to them.

Moral of the story: If something smells funny, especially right after having work done, check it or get it checked.

If we hadn't taken it in, it could have leaked enough to have killed the engine. If it had, the warranty wouldn't have covered it because it would have been an oil starvation issue, and really not Mazda's fault.

BTW what shifter do you guys recommend? B&M, Kartboy, etc?

10-03-2007, 12:32 AM
B&M is really nice, though I recently discovered the heat-stiffness problem. Apparently TWM doesn't do that. I had a Kartboy on my LX. Also nice, shorter, less precise-feeling than the B&M. No longer in production, though, so you'll have to find one used.

Was the last one autotragic? Good switch if so! :D
